The Literary Ambitions and Achievements of Alexander von Humboldt

Robert Van Dusen

Since the centennial commemorating the death of Alexander von Humboldt will be observed in 1959, it is appropriate that his literary achievements, heretofore scarcely studied, should now be critically examined and interpreted. The author undertakes to analyze his writings for their literary value and the particular intellectual milieu in which they were written.
