Summary

This book includes the main papers presented at an International Conference on North-South Relationships in the 21st Century World Economy held at L’Aquila in Italy (September 2000). The underlying idea of the Conference was the «humanisation of the economy» and was destined to the study of the huge problems of underemployment, famine, disease and inequality, which tragically characterise very large sections of the world population.

Biographical notes

Francesco Carlucci (Volume editor) Feruccio Marzano (Volume editor)

The Editors: Francesco Carlucci holds an M.A. degree in Mathematics from Rome University and has attended courses in Socio Economics at Oslo University. After having taught Statistics in Venice, he now works as a full professor of Econometrics at the University of Rome «La Sapienza». Ferruccio Marzano studied Law at Rome University, received an M.A. in Economics from the University of Cambridge (England) and then worked as a research scholar at Cambridge and Harvard (USA). After having taught Political Economy at various Italian Universities, he is now a full professor of Development Economics and Regional Economic Policy at the University of Rome «La Sapienza».
