Zusammenfassung
Most medievalists will be familiar with the amazing Querelle from around 1400–1405 pitting Christine de Pizan and the Chancellor of the University of Paris, Jean Gerson, against their opponents Gontier Col and Jean de Montreuil, amongst other male misogynists at her time defending the sexist concepts in the Roman de la rose. A Querelle entails an intellectual debate about a larger issue either in humanist or scientific terms, and we can easily identify major exchanges between opposing groups throughout time. To probe this issue, a conference with this theme took place in Paris on June 14, 2024, and the papers presented there are now published in this thin volume.
