Dr. Arthur Bahr, Professor of Literature at MIT, has written a book about the Pearl Manuscript (British Library Cotton Nero A.x), the four literary works it contains, and the way the form (manuscript) and content (Middle English poems) interrelate so that the meaningfulness of the texts is enriched by their contexts.
