This wonderful book series offers original text in Byzantine Greek, Medieval Latin, Old English, and Medieval Spanish and Portuguese and their modern English translations on the facing pages. Each volume so far has been not only a bibliophile treasure, but also a philological gift to scholarship. However, it is a mystery to me why those responsible for the series limit themselves to those languages, as important those efforts certainly are. What Anglophone medievalist today still knows Old High or Middle High German? Would Scandinavian texts not also deserve a place here, etc.?
