For pre-Conquest Insular Studies, Charles Wright (Univ. of Illinois) has been a central figure since the publication of his The Irish Tradition in Old English Literature (Cambridge: CUP, 1993). Now he is honored by a Festschrift with papers on Anglo-Latin and early English and Celtic. After an appreciation of the honorand and an editorial summary of contents, we encounter fifteen papers in three sections: on networks of knowledge, on knowledge translated and transformed, and on bodies of knowledge.
