EYE MOVEMENT MEASURES TO STUDY THE PROCESSING OF SOCIAL INFORMATION
Julia Kneer, Sabine Krolak-Schwerdt, Margret Wintermantel and Dagmar Renaud
An eye-tracker-experiment investigated the differences in processing person information that was presented either listwise or in a text description which linked the information coherently. Eye movements which were analysed as on-line measures showe that the first integration process of person information was strongly facilitated in the text condition due to the introduction of conjunctions. The reading times of special text units were only decreased if the related conjunction was included in the preceding text. Moreover, the findings are discussed in terms of their implications and in terms of further research. Besides, the considerable advantages of eye-tracking methods to investigate the processing of social information are presented.
