Literaturgeschichte und Interkulturalität

Festschrift für Maria Sass

Edited By Doris Sava and Stefan Sienerth

Emil Cioran’s Romanian Correspondence: The Letters to Wolf Aichelburg

His correspondence presents itself as a lyrical recitative, in which the author is alive and spectacular in ideas and positions, charming in style, lucid and highly reactive and versatile, at the same time. The analysis of Cioran’s letters to von Aichelburg shows that the two outstanding personalities of Romanian culture shared a close and emotional literary friendship, based on respect, compassion and synergy, but also on common preoccupations and readings, on common intellectual and literary positions, on empathy.
