Thierry Gallèpe Les pressions du sens sur la présentation du discours : distorsions et invention Abstract Pressures “to say it”, in which the utterance of a speech originates, are brought to bear on the speaker before (and during) the utterance of his/her messages, leaving traces of this “will to meaning” in the very form of the messages. This paper deals with those marks, and more precisely on the way they bring to light the process whereby those pressures shape the ut- terances to effect a speech production which is as close as possible as the preverbal project. My field of observation will be “meaning oriented to the right”; it is therefore part of the interpretive domain. The analysis will bear on written speech, in advertisements, the press, literary and other texts belonging to the French, English, and German linguistic areas. In this perspective, taking into account the utterances’ intrinsic and extrinsic presentation patterns makes it possible to describe phenomena of linguistic invention and distortion of messages, which, more often than is usually acknowledged, are made use of to lend more weight to meaning while enhancing the pleasure of interpretation. 1.
