Jugendmedienschutz – eine besondere Art von Risikomanagement
Praxisbericht einer Landesmedienanstalt
Abstract: For the institutions that are tasked with it, such as the state media authority, media protection of minors is not a choice, but an obligation. The goal is to ideally make contents which are not suitable for children and adolescents inaccessible to them, or at the very at least to make such access difficult. While age checks at the box office are comparatively easy to implement, the situation proves to be more difficult with regards to TV programs and even more complex for online contents. Classifications such as “this programme is not suitable for children under 16” are a guide for responsible parents. Choosing a late broadcasting time may work reasonably for traditional television. Internet contents, however, are accessible around the clock; they require technological barriers in order to protect children and adolescents. However, such effective access restrictions on the PC or smartphone of users are in need of general dissemination and acceptance.
