Zusammenfassung
The topic of medieval humanism has been the central research interest by the Germanist medievalist C. Stephen Jaeger who taught at numerous universities, including UW in Seattle, Uof IL in Urbana/Champaign, UCLA in Los Angeles, and at the CEU in Budapest. He deserves high claim for his major books on Medieval Humanism in Gottfried von Strassburg’s Tristan und Isolde (1977), The Origin of Courtliness (1985), and The Envy of Angels (1994), and most recently The Sense of the Sublime in the Middle Ages (2022), to mention a few.
