In May 2011, the 25th annual conference of the Croatian Applied Linguistics So- ciety took place at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Osijek. From 12th to 14th May, 144 linguists from Croatia and abroad presented 53 pa- pers and 11 posters on different questions related to applied linguistics. The second volume, the present book of proceedings, contains 15 papers written in English and German. The authors of these papers come from seven different European countries. The papers could roughly be grouped around four different topics: • language competence and language teaching (Hans Jürgen Heringer, Melita Aleksa Varga, Hrisztalina Hrisztova Gotthardt, Vesna Bagarić Medve, Ivan Čelebić, Jelena Mihaljević Djigunović, Lucilla Lopriore, Višnja Pavičić Ta- kač, Dunja Po...
