This volume presents a series of contributions from the XIX. International Scientific Conference on The Reform of Education and Teacher’s Training on the topic Educational Sciences in Search of Global Identity which was conceived and organized by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Lithuania, Lithuanian University of Educational Sciences and Heidelberg University of Education (Germany). Main topics of the conference were educational quality standards of Higher and Secondary Education. This kind of quality management relies on the acquisition of interactive competence in socialization and the educational sector. The development of these basic skills is prerequisite for achieving an identity in order to meet the challenges of our society in the coming decade.
The Development of College Teachers’ Intercultural Competences and their Application in Educational Activity
The paper aims to reveal the significance of the (self-) development of college teachers’ intercultural competence and the necessity of its relation to international mobility. The paper presents the results of the analysis of college missions and visions which demonstrate their intention to expand the limits of internationality, as well the attitude of the college academic community to the possibilities of participating in international mobility.

Globalization makes a considerable influence of the participants of higher education –students and teachers who organize various educational activities. The teachers’ intercultural competence has become one of the major priorities and this situation is determined by the increasingly frequent interaction with students from different cultures and other participants of higher education (social partners). College teachers are facing a necessity of (self-) development of intercultural competence in order to be able to qualitatively organize the study process and other educational activities – scientific conferences and seminars, forums; to create or pursue the joint study programmes with other institutions of European or other countries, international scientific applied research and projects; to work with Erasmus students, etc.
Hence, the goal of the paper is to analyze the possibilities of developing the college teachers’ intercultural competence and their application in educational activity with the emphasis on the aspects of international mobility.
