Sprachliche Anforderungen und Fähigkeiten in der kaufmännischen Berufsausbildung – eine empirische Analyse im Rahmen des Projekts „Gemeinsam stark durch Sprache“
Abstract Young people’s linguistic deficiencies are a daily problem for teachers and trainers of the German Vocational Training System. In this system language competence is the key to training success and professional and social integration into an increasingly globalised society. Therefore more than ever a concept for diagnosing and supporting language competences has to be developed considering the needs of vocational training and a holistic definition of language competence. Supporting projects, that still exist, often emphasize partial competences or fail due to lack of engagement and difficulties in practical implementation.
The results of the quantitative survey within the project „Gemeinsam stark durch Sprache“, questioning trainees, teachers and trainers, base on a holistic view and will be discussed in this paper. It is shown how important language competence is according to the involved persons and which reasons for failure of projects supporting language skills can be specified. This paper concentrates on the identification of productive and receptive language requirements in vocational schools and training companies in order to compare them with the language skills of the trainees. This step allows a detailed list of those partial language competences that are required within the vocational training system, but are a major problem for the trainees.
