Toute forme de culture ayant une dimension politique et juridique, la Collection publie des travaux, tels que des thèses, synthèses de recherches, ouvrages collectifs et actes de colloques se proposant de faire connaître les systèmes politiques et juridiques contemporains et leur implications sociales et sociétales. La Collection se focalise sur les interférences entre le politique, le juridique et le socio-culturel dans le contexte de la globalisation et de la mondialisation, en prêtant une attention particulière aux processus d’intégration politique et d’harmonisation juridique en cours dans l’Union européenne. The series publishes works on culture with a political and legal dimension that are intended to reveal the contemporary political and legal systems and their social and societal implications. The series focuses on the interconnections between the political, the legal and the sociocultural in the context of globalization, paying particular attention to the processes of political integration and legal harmonization underway in the European Union. Proposals for revised doctoral theses, edited collections and conference proceedings are all welcome.

Europe plurielle/Multiple Europes

The series «Multiple Europes» is multiple in two ways: it understands Europe in an interdisciplinary manner with a strong historical perspective, and it understands Europe as being inserted in transnational and global contexts. On both levels, the perspectives on Europe and the very role and understanding of Europe is multiple. The special emphasis of the series thus lies in understanding the pasts of Europe as well as its complex present. The history of Europe and the history of European integration have influenced each other in the past and will continue to do so in the future. There is an inbuilt tension in the relation between European history and the history of European integration. Europe signifies a space and semantics much broader and more complex than the EU. The relations between ideas of Europe, European history, global history and European integration need to be faced more openly. In order to do this, an open dialogue between academic disciplines is just as necessary as critical self-reflection within each discipline. Furthermore, European history was preoccupied with looking at itself and needs to be connected to global relations. La collection « Europe plurielle » tente d’’analyser à la fois la richesse du passé dont l’’Europe est issue et la complexité de son présent à travers une lecture transdisciplinaire, historique et globale – en un mot : plurielle. L’’histoire de l’’Europe et l’’histoire de l’’intégration européenne se sont influencées mutuellement dans le passé et continuent à le faire. Il existe, en effet, une tension inhérente entre elles. Mais le terme « Europe » renvoie à un espace et à un signifié bien plus amples et complexes que celui d’’« Union Européenne ». Par ailleurs, l’’histoire européenne s’’est trop longtemps penchée sur elle-même et doit à présent s’’articuler aux relations internationales en général. Les relations entre l’’idée de l’’Europe, l’’histoire européenne, l’’histoire mondiale et l’’intégration européenne doivent donc être abordées de façon plus large dans un dialogue interdisciplinaire qui intègre également une réflexion critique à l’’intérieur de chaque discipline. Tels sont les objectifs de la collection. The series «Work & Society» analyses the development of employment and social policies, as well as the strategies of the different social actors, both at national and European levels. It puts forward a multi-disciplinary approach – political, sociological, economic, legal and historical – in a bid for dialogue and complementarity. The series is not confined to the social field stricto sensu, but also aims to illustrate the indirect social impacts of economic and monetary policies. It endeavours to clarify social developments, from a comparative and a historical perspective, thus portraying the process of convergence and divergence in the diverse national societal contexts. The manner in which European integration impacts on employment and social policies constitutes the backbone of the analyses. La collection « Travail & Société » analyse les évolutions de la sphère du travail et des politiques sociales à travers l’étude des stratégies menées par les acteurs sociaux, tant sur le plan national qu’européen. Elle propose une approche pluridisciplinaire – politique, sociologique, économique, juridique et historique – dans un souci de dialogue et de complémentarité. La collection ne se limite pas à des études du champ social stricto sensu mais vise également à illustrer les impacts sociaux indirects des politiques économiques et monétaires. Elle s’attache à mettre en perspective les évolutions sociales, tant du point de vue historique que de manière comparative, en illustrant la convergence et la divergence dans les différents parcours nationaux. La dimension européenne, et plus particulièrement l’impact de l’intégration européenne, constitue un axe d’analyse privilégié.

«Euroclio» is a scientific and editorial project, a network of research institutions and researchers, and an ideas forum. «Euroclio» as an editorial project consists of two aspects: the first concerns studies and documents, the second concerns tools. Both are aimed at making the results of research more accessible, and also at opening up paths through the history of European construction/integration/unification. The «Euroclio» series meets a dual objective: – to provide reference tools for research, – to provide a platform for this research in terms of the publication of results. The series thus consists of two sub-series that satisfy these requirements: the «Études et Documents» (Studies and Documents) series and the «Références» (References) series. These two series are aimed at general libraries and/or university history departments, teachers and researchers, and in certain cases, specific professional circles. « Euroclio » est un projet scientifique et éditorial, un réseau d’institutions de recherche et de chercheurs, un forum d’idées. « Euroclio », en tant que projet éditorial, comprend deux versants : le premier versant concerne les études et documents, le second versant les instruments de travail. L’un et l’autre visent à rendre accessibles les résultats de la recherche, mais également à ouvrir des pistes en matière d’histoire de la construction/intégration/unification européenne. La collection « Euroclio » répond à un double objectif : offrir des instruments de travail, de référence, à la recherche ; offrir une tribune à celle-ci en termes de publication des résultats. La collection comprend donc deux séries répondant à ces exigences : la série « Études et Documents » et la série « Références ». Ces deux séries s’adressent aux bibliothèques générales et/ou départements d’histoire des universités, aux enseignants et chercheurs, et dans certains cas, à des milieux professionnels bien spécifiques. La série « Études et Document s» comprend des monographies, des recueils d’articles, des actes de colloque et des recueils de textes commentés à destination de l’enseignement. For several decades now, our attention has been drawn to expanding agricultural output and the proliferation of powerful food companies. At the same time, in the process of European integration, the adoption of the Codex Alimentarius (1963), the Food Law (2002), and the recognition of PGIs for many products have contributed to the creation of a common European "food space". Today, these systems of supply and distribution have between them given Europeans quite varied dietary possibilities. This situation stems from various developments, linking the economic to the technical and amounting to a long-term trend. Cultural issues bear upon this, whether culinary transmission from generation to generation or the increasingly diverse catering sector, and political decisions also contribute through the establishment of standards and regulations. Hence, traditions and ruptures, innovations and continuities are permanently unsettling the European diet. Using original sources, doctoral theses, conference papers, monographs and testimonies, this series examines historical developments at the national scale and also, more generally, in a transnational perspective. The series hopes to make a significant contribution to understanding the processes of food innovation, which are powerful factors of difference and identity in contemporary Europe. All volumes in this series passed a selection process that included double blind peer-review. Le développement des rendements agricoles et la croissance de puissantes industries agroalimentaires ont focalisé l’attention depuis plusieurs décennies. Dans le processus de construction européenne, l’adoption du Codex alimentarius (1963), la Food law (2002) et la reconnaissance des IGP sur de nombreux produits contribuent désormais à unifier un espace alimentaire communautaire. Les Européens disposent de moyens d’approvisionnement et de distribution variés pour constituer leur alimentation. Cette situation procède d’évolutions plurielles, liant l’économique et le technique, et s’inscrit en fait dans la longue durée. Des enjeux culturels y sont associés, qu’il s’agisse de transmissions culinaires générationnelles ou de l’offre de restauration très diversifiée. Des choix politiques y contribuent également, par la mise en place de normalisations et de règlements. Traditions et ruptures, nouveautés et continuités bouleversent en permanence l’alimentation des Européens. Par des recueils de sources, des thèses, des actes de colloques, des monographies érudites et des témoignages, cette collection interroge les évolutions historiques et sociétales, par pays ou plus globalement dans une perspective transnationale. Elle souhaite apporter une connaissance sur des processus d’innovations alimentaires qui constituent de puissants facteurs de différences et d’identités mêlées de l’Europe contemporaine. Tous les volumes de cette collection sont publiés après double révision à l'aveugle par des pairs.

The book series «Federalism», run by the Centro Studi sul Federalismo/Centre for Studies on Federalism (CSF), aims to disseminate knowledge in the field of studies on federalism, as well as to feed the academic and public debate and support the activity of decision-makers, confronted with demands for autonomy by local governments, along with forms of regional and world integration needed to govern global processes. The CSF is a think tank that carries out activities of interdisciplinary research, documentation, information regarding domestic and supra-national federalism, developments in the area of regional and continental integration first and foremost the European Union and problems related to the world order and the process of democratisation of the international system. The CSF has been founded under the auspices of the Compagnia di San Paolo and the Universities of Turin, Pavia and Milan.

European integration is a profound phenomenon influencing our current understanding of political and social processes in Europe and beyond. The set of European institutions that have now functioned in the continent for over half a century have created new broadened frames of reference for a variety of social actors. The most comprehensive is the European Union, which can be characterised as a multilevel polity. The other organisations, such as the Council of Europe and OSCE, also contribute significantly to the new mode of relations in Europe. This has in turn influenced how social and political actors act and define their roles. European integration has changed the functioning of states, their sovereignty and the meaning and status of borders, as well as the nature of citizenship. This series welcomes book proposals that look at the political and social aspects of human activities in the broadest terms but analysed from the perspective of how these processes are transformed as a result of European integration. The series is open to work emerging from research cooperation between Polish and foreign scholars. Authors are welcome to submit manuscripts of monographs, collected volumes, and post-conference volumes. Outstanding dissertations will also be considered for publication.

The Series «　Borders and European Integration　» fills in a gap in Social Sciences, as it connects two so far independent research strands: European Studies and Border Studies. Mainly initiated by geographers and originally hosted in the United States, Border Studies primarily deal with the study of borders and borderlands, whereas European Studies analyse the process of European Integration, its actors, institutions and policy fields. Although the idea of a Europe without borders was part of the project of the European Economic Community, the multidimensional role of the border has not been sufficiently taken into account by researchers in European Studies. Inversely, Border Studies have only rarely examined the specificity of borders and borderlands in Europe in comparison to other regions in the world. At the crossroads between Area Studies and International Relations, this Series therefore offers a pluri-disciplinary approach to borders and their role in the European construction. Taking into account the perspective of different disciplines in Social Sciences, the diversity of actors of European Integration and borderlands (local, regional, national,) it allows a new multi-level and decentred view on conflicts and cooperation at European borders. The Series addresses researchers and university scholars of all disciplines in Social Sciences and wishes to tackle the challenging contemporary questions on borders in Europe. La collection «　Frontières et intégration européenne　» répond au besoin de lier deux champs disciplinaires jusque-là peu connectés　: celui des études européennes et celui des Border Studies. Fortement impulsés par les géographes et implantés au départ aux Etats-Unis, les Border Studies s’intéressent surtout à l’étude de la frontière et aux espaces de voisinage alors que les études européennes se penchent sur l’analyse du processus d’intégration européenne, ses acteurs, ses institutions et ses politiques. Alors que l’idée de l’Europe sans frontières fait partie du projet de la Communauté économique européenne, le rôle multidimensionnel de la frontière n’a pas été suffisamment pris en compte par les chercheurs en Etudes européennes. De leur côté, les Border Studies n’ont que peu abordé la spécificité des frontières de l’Europe et de ses espaces de voisinage par rapport à d’autres régions dans le monde. Au croisement des Area Studies et des Relations Internationales, la collection propose donc une approche pluridisciplinaire des frontières et de leur rôle dans la construction européenne. En tenant compte du regard différentes disciplines en Sciences humaines, de la diversité des acteurs de la construction européenne et des territoires frontaliers (locaux, régionaux, nationaux ) en Europe, elle permet ainsi d’avoir une nouvelle approche multi-niveaux et décentralisée des conflits et coopérations aux frontières européennes. La collection s’adresse aux universitaires et chercheurs de toute discipline en Sciences humaines souhaitant interroger les grandes thématiques des frontières en Europe. Die Reihe «　Grenzen und Europäische Integration　» schließt eine Lücke in den Geisteswissenschaften, indem sie zwei bisher unabhängige Forschungsstränge miteinander verknüpft: die Europawissenschaften und die Border Studies. Die im Wesentlichen von den Geographen angestossenen und ursprünglich in den USA angesiedelten Border Studies interessieren sich vor allem für die Erforschung von Grenzen und Grenzgebieten, bzw. Nachbarschaftsräumen, während die Europawissenschaften sich der Analyse des Europäischen Integrationsprozesses, dessen Akteure, Institutionen und Politikfelder widmen. Obwohl die Idee eines Europa ohne Grenzen auch Teil des Projektes der Europäischen Wirtschaftsgemeinschaft war, wurde die multidimensionale Rolle der Grenze nicht immer ausreichend von den Europawissenschaftlern berücksichtigt. Anderseits haben die Border Studies nur wenig die Spezifizität der Grenzen und Grenzräume Europas im Vergleich zu anderen Regionen in der Welt erforscht. Am Wegkreuz zwischen den Area Studies und den Internationalen Beziehungen bietet die Reihe daher einen pluri-disziplinaren Ansatz zu Grenzen und ihrer Rolle in der Europäischen Konstruktion. Durch die Berücksichtigung der Perspektive verschiedener Disziplinen aus den Geisteswissenschaften, der Diversität der Akteure der Europäischen Integration und der Grenzräume (lokale, regionale, nationale) ermöglicht sie eine neue multi-level und dezentralisierte Betrachtungsweise der Konflikte und Kooperationen an europäischen Grenzen. «Euroclio» is a scientific and editorial project, a network of research institutions and researchers, and an ideas forum. «Euroclio» as an editorial project consists of two aspects: the first concerns studies and documents, the second concerns tools. Both are aimed at making the results of research more accessible, and also at opening up paths through the history of European construction/integration/unification. The «Euroclio» series meets a dual objective: – to provide reference tools for research, – to provide a platform for this research in terms of the publication of results. The series thus consists of two sub-series that satisfy these requirements: the «Études et Documents» (Studies and Documents) series and the «Références» (References) series. These two series are aimed at general libraries and/or university history departments, teachers and researchers, and in certain cases, specific professional circles. The «Études et Documents» series consists of monographs, collections of articles, conference proceedings, and collections of texts with notes for teaching purposes. The «Références» series consists of bibliographies, guides and other tools. It thus contributes to the creation of a database making up a «Permanent catalogue of sources and bibliographies on European construction».
