John the Baptist and Elijah in Luke
Preface Blessed be the Lord who sends His messengers to prepare His ways. This monograph is about them. It is essentially my doctoral dissertation, which I de- fended on February 6th, 2009 at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome and have since revised considerably at certain points. A specific thanks to Prof. Klemens Stock S.J., the Moderator of my disserta- tion, and to Prof. Roland Meynet S.J., the Second Relator, for their precious comments. I am particularly grateful to Prof. Leo Arnold S.J. and ThDr. Maeve Louise Heaney F.M.V.D. for their revision of my English. I am happy to express my thanks to Prof. Georg Braulik O.S.B., for accept- ing my work for publication in this prestigious series. I am deeply grateful to the Society of Jesus for sponsoring my biblical re- search and to all who in manifold ways have allowed for my exegetical biblical formation. A word of thanks to all who formed the spectrum of life at the Pon- tifical Biblical Institute in Rome, where I passed the years of my Licentiate in S. Scripture and doctoral research.
