Summary

Professor Antony Carr of Bangor has spent his life on the study of medieval Wales; he has now produced a masterpiece of learning on Welsh society in what some see as its golden age. Seldom does one encounter a historical work so flawless and satisfying in its presentation. It is a model of enquiry, and should be known outside Wales as an example of how to describe any historical community, high or low.
