Summary

The editors of this volume have assembled a series of deliberately short and allusive studies of objects that have been destroyed intentionally, accidentally, or by time and the elements, others that may exist but are lost and still others of which there are plans but of which no proof survives of their execution. The black and white photographs almost seem spectral, suggesting the evanescent nature of the objects under consideration.
