Summary

Klaus-Peter Wegera (Bochum, emeritus) remains one of the most important Germanic linguists working today. His publications encompass a broad range of topics, including single- or co-authored books on Hessian, Early New High German, and Middle High German, and articles on issues from grammatical gender assignment in German to secret languages based on German. The volume reviewed here collects 20 papers on various topics, divided into four sections. There is also an introduction by the editors and a list of Wegera’s publications. For reasons of space, I describe the contents of each section only briefly and outline one paper from each section in just a bit more detail.
