Regional Integration and Social Cohesion

«Regional Integration and Social Cohesion» (RISC) is an interdisciplinary and multilingual (English, French, German, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese) series that examines the human and environmental impacts of regional integration, defined legally/politically (supranationalism), economically (globalization), socially (identity), and geographically (borders). The series aims to link global analysis of issues associated with social cohesion, such as market shifts, immigration, environmental risk and the deterioration of natural resources, human rights, violence and security, etc., with national and subnational studies that focus on political decision-making, the non-governmental sector and social participation in public debates, economic transformations, social marginalization, identity, etc. Thus, the series aims to combine the international, national and subnational arenas of politics in thematically-oriented research. While proposed case studies are welcome, the works presented in this series from all social science disciplines, are predominantly based on the comparative method. Studies that compare across geographic regions, defined continentally, are of particular interest. In addition to the scientific focus described above, this series aims to connect theoretical analysis of questions related to social cohesion with policy-based research. In doing so, it examines the role of political actors at different levels of regional integration processes and it studies citizen responses to changing opportunity structures in the economic, social and political spheres. Thus, the series attempts to shed light on contemporary shifts in the uses and types of power in policy-making processes. The issue of changes in how policies are being made is linked to: «who affects policy-making?» and «what impact do policies have in social and economic arenas?» « Intégration régionale et cohésion sociale » (RISC) est une collection interdisciplinaire et multilingue qui étudie les impacts humains et environnementaux qu’exerce l’intégration régionale, telle que définie légalement/politiquement (supranationalisme), économiquement (mondialisation), socialement (identité) et géographiquement (frontières). La collection cherche à mettre en relation d’une part l’analyse globale de problématiques associées à la cohésion sociale – les mouvements des marchés économiques, l’immigration, les enjeux écologiques, la préservation des ressources naturelles, les droits de l’homme, la violence et la sécurité, etc. – et d’autre part les études nationales et régionales/locales qui se centrent sur la prise de décision politique, le secteur non gouvernemental, la participation dans les débats publics, les transformations économiques, la marginalisation sociale, l’identité, etc. La collection cherche dès lors à combiner international, national et régional/local dans une perspective thématique. Si les études de cas y sont les bienvenues, on tentera cependant de privilégier les analyses comparatistes, dans le champ des sciences humaines, toutes disciplines confondues. Une attention toute particulière sera accordée aux études établissant des comparaisons entre continents. En outre, la collection souhaite relier l’analyse théorique de questions liées à la cohésion sociale à une recherche de type politique. Elle examine ainsi le rôle des acteurs politiques aux différents niveaux de l’intégration régionale et elle étudie la réaction des citoyens face aux mutations des structures économiques, sociales et politiques. RISC met dès lors en lumière les tendances contemporaines des usages et des types de pouvoir à l’œuvre dans les processus de prise de décision. La question de savoir comment les politiques sont élaborées est liée aux questions suivantes : « Qui peut influencer les politiques ? » et « quel est l’impact des politiques sur la scène politique et économique ? ».

Gender and Sexualities in Education

Part of the Peter Lang Diversity series, the Gender and Sexualities in Education series seeks to publish high quality manuscripts that address the complex interrelationship between gender and sexuality in shaping young people’s schooling experiences, their participation in popular youth cultures, and their sense of self in relation to others. Books published might include: a study of hip-hop youth culture, Latina/o students, white working class youth, or LGBTQQ community groups – in each case asking how they explore, challenge, and perform gender and sexualities as part of learning and “becoming somebody.” Other books might address issues of masculinities, gender and embodiment, trans and genderqueer youth, sexuality education, or the construction of heteronormativity in schools. We invite contributions from authors of ethnographic and other qualitative studies, theoretical texts, as well as critical analyses of popular culture “texts” targeted at or produced by youth – including an analysis of popular music and fan culture, video and film, and gaming culture. While the focus of the series is on original research or theoretical monographs, exceptionally well-crafted proposals for thematically coherent edited volumes and textbooks will also be considered. Leeds Studies on Dante

The book series Leeds Studies on Dante is a collaboration between Peter Lang Oxford and the Leeds Centre for Dante Studies. Based at the University of Leeds, the Centre promotes the study of Dante from a variety of disciplinary and methodological perspectives, through support for individual and collaborative research and through work with students at all levels and with a broader public. In support of this remit, the series will publish innovative new research of the highest quality on any aspect of Dante studies. It is open to a wide range of different methodologies, including comparative and interdisciplinary approaches, studies of Dante's reception from the Middle Ages to the present, and research which engages with the poet's broader cultural context, as well as analysis of Dante's works. Proposals are welcomed for monographs or collections of essays in either English or Italian. Editions, commentaries and translations of exceptional scholarly value will also be considered. Potential contributors should send a detailed outline of their proposed volume, including a statement of the aims and remit of the volume and the critical methodology adopted, a chapter breakdown, and a sample chapter. In the case of edited volumes, editors are asked to send a paragraph outlining the cohesiveness of the volume and the rationale for the collection of essays. Complete manuscripts should not be sent unless invited. The series is supported by an international advisory board, including Zygmunt G. This series welcomes and encourages the dialogue between demography and family studies to revitalize social history as well as sociology and population studies. An international network of scholars based at the Laboratory of Demography and Family Studies of the University of Geneva has initiated an open-minded series that seeks to reflect the latest developments in research. The collection emphasizes comparative and international perspectives, as well as interdisciplinary approaches drawing from history, economics, statistics, sociology, geography, demography, and cultural anthropology. Innovative methodologies for both qualitative and quantitative analysis which allow authors to reformulate old problems and ask new questions are particular welcome. The series publishes both individual and collective volumes. The first group encompasses case studies or monographs coming from the Swiss or the international scientific world, including the best Ph.D. dissertations. The second group refers to collective volumes organized around a topic emerging from a scientific debate, with contributions from various disciplinary fields and/or geographic horizons. Cette collection a pour ambition d'accueillir et de promouvoir le dialogue entre les démographes et les spécialistes de la famille, dialogue qui renouvelle profondément tant l'histoire sociale que la sociologie contemporaine. Animée par un réseau international qui s'appuie sur le Laboratoire de Démographie et d'Etudes Familiales de l'Université de Genève, la collection est largement ouverte et veut refléter les dynamiques de recherche les plus récentes. Elle privilégie les perspectives comparatives, internationales, ainsi que les approches interdisciplinaires, celles qui mêlent les apports de l'histoire, de l'économie, de la statistique, de la sociologie, de la géographie, de la démographie, de l'anthropologie culturelle, etc. L'innovation méthodologique, dans les domaines du qualitatif aussi bien que du quantitatif, qui permet de refonder les problématiques et d'articuler de nouvelles questions, est particulièrement saluée. New International Insights/Nouveaux Regards sur l’International

In tribute to the late founder of the collection, Eric Remacle, the editors have proposed to call this book series New　International Insights. The novelty thus pursued consists of inviting prospective authors also to view the situations, case-studies and dynamics they analyse and conceptualise as innovative in an increasingly multipolar world order, more than as a mere continuation of past evolutions and theories. This is the approach characterising the editors' own research. Over a quarter of a century after the end of the cold war, Eurasian as well as Transatlantic, Asian-Pacific and pan-American constant innovations question most analytical conclusions almost as soon as they are reached. Yet, there is a need for theory. Examples would exceed the scope of this short presentation but a worthwhile illustration can be suggested : the turning point whereby an already innovative, sino-postsoviet Asia has proven capable, while still in its affirmative stage, to engage South Asia and construct a China-Russia-India triangle that offsets or even jeopardises most existing visions of Asia, notably neo-realist ones. Traditional visions thus yield to contemporary uncertainties. While non-State actors are still causing States to wither, withdraw or falter, new transnational and even transcontinental constructions are bringing States back in, however much around different objectives : logistical and commercial, while military cooperation appears a dated and questionable form of security enforcement. New　International Insights aims at balancing book publications among authors of all intellectual origins, western as well as eastern, northern as well as southern. Only in this manner can it hope to take the vision of its early founders one step further. A post-modern world needs post-western epistemology in order to wield its new meaning. Manuscripts in political science and social sciences are encouraged for submission, preferably in English, not exceeding 650 000 signs. En hommage au fondateur de l’ancienne collection Regards sur l’international, Eric REMACLE, les éditeurs ont proposé de le renommer New International Insights. Leur objectif consiste à inviter les auteurs potentiels à considérer les situations, les études de cas et les dynamiques qu'ils souhaitent analyser et conceptualiser comme innovantes dans un ordre mondial de plus en plus multipolaire, plus que comme une simple continuation des évolutions et des théories passées. C'est l'approche qui caractérise les propres recherches des éditeurs. Plus d'un quart de siècle après la fin de la guerre froide, les innovations constantes eurasiennes, transatlantiques, asiatiques-pacifiques et panaméricaines remettent en question les conclusions les plus analytiques presque aussitôt qu'elles ont été formulées. Pourtant, il y a un besoin de théorie. Les exemples dépasseraient le cadre de cette brève présentation, mais une illustration valable peut être suggérée: le tournant par lequel une Asie sino-post-soviétique déjà innovante s'est révélée capable, tout en étant au stade de sa première affirmation, d’engager l'Asie du Sud et de construire une relation triangulaire Chine-Russie-India qui bouscule, voire remet en question la plupart des visions existantes de l’Asie, notamment les visions néoréalistes. Les visions traditionnelles cèdent ainsi aux incertitudes contemporaines. Alors que les acteurs non-étatiques provoquent toujours le recul, le retrait ou le trébuchement des États, de nouvelles constructions trans-nationales et même trans-continentales, font «　revenir　» les États, même si c’est autour d’objectifs différents: logistiques et commerciaux, tandis que la coopération militaire apparaît comme une forme datée et remise en question de mise en œuvre de la sécurité . New International Insights vise à équilibrer les publications de livres d'auteurs de toutes origines intellectuelles, occidentales et orientales, d’auteurs du Nord et du Sud. Ce n’est qu’ainsi que l’on pourra espérer faire avancer la vision de ses premiers fondateurs. Un monde post-moderne a besoin d’une épistémologie post-occidentale pour dévoiler sa nouvelle signification. Les manuscrits en science politique et en sciences sociales sont invités à être soumis, de préférence en anglais, n'excédant pas 650 000 signes, notes et annexes comprises.

Aspects linguistiques et culturels des discours spécialisés

Cette collection a pour objet de promouvoir l’’étude des domaines spécialisés à travers les aspects linguistiques, discursifs et culturels qui permettent de les caractériser. Elle accueillera des travaux de recherche rédigés en français qui aborderont des domaines disciplinaires ou professionnels dans une perspective synchronique ou diachronique par le biais de la terminologie, la linguistique, la stylistique, l’’analyse du discours ou d’’un genre particulier. Elle s’’adresse à des chercheurs intéressés par les langues de spécialité, qu’’ils soient spécialistes de langues étrangères, de l’’un des axes précédemment évoqués ou encore de traduction. Les analyses pourront porter, à titre d’’exemples, sur la néologie, les métaphores constitutives de la théorie d’’un domaine, les aspects rhétoriques, l’’analyse des éléments des discours spécialisés, l’’histoire des idées pour un domaine donné à travers les concepts et leur dénomination, l’’étude des normes et contraintes en vigueur dans un milieu spécialisé à travers le/les discours. Cette collection accueillera des monographies ou des ouvrages collectifs rassemblant des articles sur un thème donné. Dans les deux cas, les tapuscrits soumis seront évalués de manière anonyme par deux spécialistes du domaine.
