New Literacies and Digital Epistemologies

New literacies emerge and evolve apace as people from all walks of life engage with new technologies, shifting values and institutional change, and increasingly assume 'postmodern' orientations toward their everyday worlds. Despite many efforts to take account of such changes, educational institutions largely remain out of touch with the range of new ways of making and sharing meanings that increasingly mediate and shape the lives of the young people they teach and the futures they face. This series aims to explore some key dimensions of the changes occurring within social practices of literacy and the educational challenges they present, with a view to informing educational practice in helpful ways. It asks what are new literacies,how do they impact on life in schools, homes, communities, workplaces, sites of leisure, and other key settings of human cultural engagement, and what significance do new literacies have for how people learn and how they understand and construct knowledge? It aims to challenge established and 'official' ways of framing literacy, and to ask what it means for literacies to be powerful, effective, and enabling under current and foreseeable conditions. Collectively, the works in this series will help to reorient literacy debates and literacy education agendas.

Euroclio

«Euroclio» is a scientific and editorial project, a network of research institutions and researchers, and an ideas forum. «Euroclio» as an editorial project consists of two aspects: the first concerns studies and documents, the second concerns tools. Both are aimed at making the results of research more accessible, and also at opening up paths through the history of European construction/integration/unification. The «Euroclio» series meets a dual objective: – to provide reference tools for research, – to provide a platform for this research in terms of the publication of results. The series thus consists of two sub-series that satisfy these requirements: the «Études et Documents» (Studies and Documents) series and the «Références» (References) series. These two series are aimed at general libraries and/or university history departments, teachers and researchers, and in certain cases, specific professional circles. The «Études et Documents» series consists of monographs, collections of articles, conference proceedings, and collections of texts with notes for teaching purposes. The «Références» series consists of bibliographies, guides and other tools. It thus contributes to the creation of a database making up a «Permanent catalogue of sources and bibliographies on European construction».

La collection «　Convergences　», publiée avec l’appui d’un comité de lecture franco-allemand, réserve une place privilégiée à des ouvrages relatifs aux périodiques culturels et politiques considérés comme expressions de l’opinion publique, des mouvements d’idées, des mentalités ainsi que des phénomènes culturels et sociaux pris dans leur ensemble. «　Convergences　» est une collection d’esprit pluraliste et interdisciplinaire. Elle est vouée à la fois à la rencontre des méthodologies et des champs disciplinaires en lettres et sciences humaines ainsi qu’à l’étude des phénomènes d’interculturalité envisagés sous leurs formes les plus diverses. La collection est ouverte à des travaux qui concernent de manière prioritaire – mais non exclusive – l’aire culturelle germanique, les relations franco-allemandes et les transferts culturels.

La « Chaire Glaverbel d’études européennes », créée dans le cadre de l’Institut d’études européennes de l’Université Catholique de Louvain, entend contribuer de manière significative à la formation et à la réflexion sur des thèmes centraux de la construction européenne. Son ambition est de mieux former les étudiants à la lecture de leur environnement économique, social, politique et culturel et de favoriser ainsi leur capacité d’adaptation dans un monde en mutation. The aim of this book series is to study the various aspects of risk linked to human activities. Scientific and technological development is changing our society fundamentally and the concept of risk is crucial for the analysis of the ongoing social transformation process. Progress in genetic engineering and the use of military technology by civilians, for instance, raise questions concerning ethical, political, environmental and public-health issues. This series, therefore, opts for a multidisciplinary approach to the problem of risk, which involves the scientific community as much as the political world and civil society. It publishes monographs and collected papers, mainly in French or English. Cette collection a pour principal objectif de traiter les différents aspects de la problématique des risques associés aux activités humaines. Parmi celles-ci, le développement scientifique, technologique et économique s’impose de plus en plus comme un moteur fondamental du changement social. Dans cette perspective, le concept de risque se révèle un outil pertinent d’analyse des processus de transformation sociale. À titre d’exemple, les recherches en génie génétique, de même que l’utilisation civile de technologie militaire, soulèvent inévitablement des questions d’éthique, de santé publique, d’environnement et de gestion des politiques publiques. Il est dès lors souhaitable d’envisager la problématique des risques à la lumière d’une approche multidisciplinaire qui mobilise tant la communauté scientifique que le monde politique et économique, voire même la société civile. Cette collection intègre des monographies et des ouvrages collectifs, principalement en langue française ou anglaise. Außerdem werden Forschungen veröffentlicht, die im Rahmen und mit der spezifischen Methodologie ihres jeweiligen Fachgebietes die übernationale Dimension der europäischen Kulturtradition, Geschichte und Realität in ihre Untersuchungen miteinbezogen haben. Die Bücher der Reihe erscheinen in einer der europäischen Hauptsprachen.
