  • Studies in Central European Culture

    This book series seeks manuscripts that focus on the critical analysis of the arts and cultures as they reflect, comment, or critique the history, political systems, religions, interethnic connections, economies, and historical and current problems of the multiethnic peoples of Central Europe from the Enlightenment era to the present. Books published in Studies in Central European Culture are explorations of the intellectual history and cultural movements, and their relationships to literature and other cultural representations such the theater, the fine arts, architecture, music, and philosophy. "Central Europe" for this book series is identified as the geographic region of Austria, the Balkans, the Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, Ukraine, Romania, and the regions of the former Galicia and Bukovina during the Habsburg period, and the former East Germany. Studies in Central European Culture accepts original manuscripts of monographs and anthologies, as well as scholarly translations of literary works.

    The object of these interdisciplinary series is above all studies from the Nordic countries which deal with questions in the field of literary, linguistic and cultural studies. Special emphasis is placed on phenomena of interculturality and transculturality respectively as well as on aspects of the teaching and learning of other languages. Against this background these series at the same time aim to close a gap between theory and practical use. Gegenstand der interdisziplinär angelegten Reihe sind Arbeiten vor allem aus den nordischen Ländern, die sich mit literatur-, sprach- und kulturwissenschaftlichen Fragestellungen beschäftigen. Ein besonderer Schwerpunkt liegt auf Phänomenen der Inter- bzw. Transkulturalität sowie auf Aspekten des Lehrens und Lernens anderer Sprachen. Vor diesem Hintergrund versteht die Reihe sich zugleich als Brückenschlag zwischen Theorie und Praxis.

Special emphasis will be placed on experiences of European modernity. Volumes concerning topics such as cultural remembrance, assimilation or secularization will also be included. Manuscript proposals may be sent directly to the editor. Die Reihe Pegisha Begegnung. Jüdische Studien ist ein Forum, um Studien über jüdische Kultur mit literaturtheoretischen und philosophischen Fragestellungen zu verbinden. Sie wird von der Komparatistin Dorothee Gelhard herausgegeben. Die Erfahrungen mit der europäischen Moderne stehen dabei im Vordergrund.
