    Musik der Frühen Neuzeit

    Musica poetica widmet sich der Erforschung musikalischer Phänomene der frühen Neuzeit. Ästhetische, philologische, musiktheoretische, analytische und aufführungspraktische Fragestellungen stehen ebenso im Fokus der Reihe wie kulturwissenschaftliche Ansätze. Die frühe Neuzeit wurde in dichter Folge von katastrophischen Ereignissen, gesellschaftlichen Umwälzungen und wissenschaftlichen 'Turns' erschüttert. Leitfrage der Reihe ist nicht zuletzt, in welcher Weise fundamentale Verwerfungen wie der Dreißigjährige Krieg, der Durchbruch des galanten Paradigmas, cartesianische Wende oder Aufklärung ihre Spuren im Komponieren und Nachdenken über Musik hinterlassen haben. Musik avanciert als fester Bestandteil menschlichen Handelns zum klingenden Spiegel der frühen Neuzeit. Ivana Rentsch Seit 2013 Professorin für Historische Musikwissenschaft an der Universität Hamburg. Forschungsschwerpunkte sind u. a. kulturhistorische und ästhetische Fragestellungen zur Musik und Musiktheorie der Frühen Neuzeit, das Musik- und Tanztheater des 17. bis 20. Jahrhunderts, die Gattungsgeschichte des Liedes und die tschechische Musikgeschichte. Oliver Huck Professor für Historische Musikwissenschaft an der Universität Hamburg. Er ist Leiter des Integrierten Graduiertenkollegs "Manuskriptkulturen" im Sonderforschungsbereich 950 "Manuskriptkulturen in Asien, Afrika und Europa" und Mitglied des Graduiertenkollegs 2008 "Interkonfessionalität in der Frühen Neuzeit".

  • Music and Spirituality

    Music and Spirituality explores the relationships between spirituality and music in a variety of traditions and contexts including those in which human beings have performed music with spiritual intention or effect. It addresses the plurality of modern society in the areas of musical style and philosophical and religious beliefs, and gives respect to different positions regarding the place of music both in worship and in the wider society. The series will include historical, anthropological, musicological, ethnomusicological, theological and philosophical dimensions and encourages multi-disciplinary and cross-disciplinary contributions. It looks for well-researched studies with new and open approaches to spirituality and music and encourages interesting innovative case-studies. Books within the series are subject to peer review and will include single and co-authored monographs as well as edited collections including conference proceedings. The use of musical material in either written or recorded form as part of submissions is welcome.

    Musicians in the practice room, during instruction, and on the stage will benefit from a critical discussion of vital issues from an interdisciplinary perspective. Whether the examination of the acquisition of musical expertise, or the evaluation of teaching methods and learning strategies based on neuroscience and psychology, this series will emphasize scientific research combined with experiental knowledge that can only be gained from the actual practice of musical performance and education.   • Ars Musica. Interdisziplinäre Studien

    Innerhalb der Schriftenreihe ARS MUSICA. Interdisziplinäre Studien wird die Musik sowohl in ihrer inneren Struktur und in ihrem Sein als auch in ihrem kulturellen und sozialen Kontext analysiert, wie z. B. in ihrer Beziehung zu den anderen Kunstgebieten, zu den Wissenschaften, zur Philosophie, zur Theologie, zur Politik, zum Recht und insbesondere zur Religion, von der sich die Musik seit Beginn ihrer Existenz hat inspirieren lassen. Es geht also um eine Erforschung des Seins der Musik sowohl im Hinblick auf ihre theoretischen als auch auf ihre praktischen Dimensionen, die sich aus den mannigfaltigen Daseinsweisen der menschlichen Person als des eigentlichen Subjekts jedes musikalischen Opus‘ ergeben. Neben systematischen werden auch historische Analysen vorgenommen. Die Schriftenreihe dient dem interkulturellen und internationalen Ideenaustausch und trägt damit der Musik als einer universellen und zugleich personalen Realität Rechnung. Wie in der bisherigen Musikgeschichte bleibt die Schriftenreihe damit offen für die Ausrichtung der zur Anwendung kommenden unterschiedlichen wissenschaftlichen Arbeitsmethoden auf die ewige Transzendenz.

  • Educational Equity in Community Colleges

    This series centers theory and practice in enacting educational equity, and, ultimately, educational justice at the administrative, institutional/programmatic, governance, and pedagogical levels of community colleges and other institutions of higher learning (Woods & Harris, 2016; Nevarez & Wood, 2010). There is a corpus of literature on the pernicious effects of oppressive pedagogy at the K-12 level, especially for traditionally marginalized, minoritized students (Nasir, 2011; Delpit, 2012; Leonardo, 2010). However, this is not the case at the community college level even though these same traditionally marginalized, minoritized students overwhelming start their college careers in two-year community colleges. Frankly, though there are many valuable contributions to community college education, overall there is a dearth of literature on critical, justice-centered pedagogy, theory and practice (i.e., praxis) within community college administration, governance, programming, and pedagogy. Community college practitioners are interested in enacting educational equity. However, there is little community college-specific literature for them to use to reimagine and, ultimately, reconstruct their administrative, programmatic, and pedagogical practices so that these institutionalized practices become commensurate with educational equity and justice (Tuck & Yang, 2018). Therefore, the goal of this series is to blend the work of university researchers and community college practitioners to illuminate best practices in achieving educational equity and justice via a critical-reality pedagogical framework (Giroux, 2004; Emdin, 2017; Sims, 2018). This series aims to highlight work that illuminates both the successes and struggles in developing institutionalized practices that positively impact poor ethno-racially minoritized students of color. Therefore, we will be looking at pedagogies, policies, and practices that are intentionally developed, curated and sustained by committed educators, administrators, and staff at their respective college campuses that work to ensure just learning conditions for all students.

    Interdisziplinäre Studien zur Musik – Interdisciplinary Studies of Music is a publication series that emphasizes the transdisciplinary and international nature of musicological research. The series editors, Tomi Mäkelä (Professor of Musicology at Martin-Luther-Universität Halle-Wittenberg) and Tobias Robert Klein (Privatdozent at Humboldt Universität zu Berlin) are equally interested in manuscripts with a historical, systematic or transcultural orientation. Hitherto published volumes (both monographs and edited collections) cover a wide range of topics from musical multilingualism to current debates in performance theory. Languages of Publication are English and German. Die Reihe "Interdisziplinäre Studien zur Musik / Interdisciplinary Studies of Music" umfasst Arbeiten in deutscher und englischer Sprache, deren über Fächergrenzen hinausweisende Perspektiven den interdisziplinären und internationalen Charakter der Musikwissenschaft betonen. Die Herausgeber, Prof. Dr. Tomi Mäkelä von der Martin-Luther-Universität Halle-Wittenberg, und PD Dr. Tobias Robert Klein, Musikwissenschaftler und Afrikanist an der Humboldt Universität zu Berlin, interessieren sich dabei gleichermaßen für historisch, transkultulturell und/oder systematisch orientierte Studien.
