Urban Girls

With more attention being directed toward adolescent girls' and young women’s educational development and human rights across the globe, urban girls as an educationally and politically disenfranchised group are becoming more of the primary focus of educational, sociological, and psychological research and discourse. There is a need for theory, inquiry, and praxis that considers the dynamics of the interactions of race, class, gender, age, and spatial location on　youth education and overall socio-emotional development. The social and cultural context of where students learn, play, and work significantly shape youth's identities and agency. Similarly, gender plays an important role on students’ academic and social development. The Urban Girls series brings scholarly attention to the unique, yet diverse, cultural experiences and identities of adolescent girls and young women being socialized in urban contexts. Authors explore and theorize how young women's racialized and gendered experiences in their families, communities, and schools and larger social contexts foster agency, resilience, and resistance. Diese etablierte Schriftenreihe trägt der stetig wachsenden Bedeutung der Psychologiegeschichte Rechnung, indem sie mit vielfältigen geschichtlichen Arbeiten einen Beitrag zum Verständnis der Entwicklung des Fachs und der Wissenschaft Psychologie und ihren Nachbardisziplinen leistet. Die Geschichte psychologischer Strömungen und Institutionen, einzelne Entwicklungsphasen und Teilgebiete der Psychologie sowie Leben und Werk bedeutender Persönlichkeiten werden gemäß dem Stand der Forschung behandelt. Hierbei bilden Ergebnisse von Fachtagungen zu Themen der Psychologiegeschichte einen bedeutsamen Teil der Reihe. Die Bedeutung des Personalmanagements für den Erfolg von Unternehmen ist in der Praxis wie in der Wissenschaft unbestritten. Allerdings zeigt sich national und international, daß nach wie vor zwischen Anspruch und Wirklichkeit große Unterschiede bestehen. Diese Schriftenreihe will dazu beitragen, die Defizite zu reduzieren. So werden neue Entwicklungen im Bereich des Personalmanagements vorgestellt, erfolgreiche Praktiken präsentiert, interdisziplinäre Verknüpfungen verdeutlicht. Sowohl konzeptionelle Arbeiten wie empirische Studien werden in dieser Schriftenreihe aufgenommen. Im Einzelfall handelt es sich um Sammelbände und Konferenzberichte, wobei auch hier besonders internationale Aspekte des Personalmanagements diskutiert werden sollen. Die Autoren dieser Schriftenreihe sind entsprechend sowohl Vertreter verschiedener Bereiche der Praxis als auch der Wissenschaft. Die Schriftenreihe spricht Fach- und Führungskräfte in der Privatwirtschaft wie im öffentlichen Bereich genauso an wie Wissenschaftler und Vertreter von Verbänden und der Politik. Die Herausgeber verteten die Institute für Personalwesen und Internationales Management der Universität der Bundeswehr Hamburg bzw. der OTA Hochschule Berlin. Sie leiten außerdem die F.G.H. Forschungsgruppe Hamburg.

La colección La tradición clásica y humanística en España e Hispanoamérica recoge estudios y ediciones vinculados de una u otra forma a la herencia de Grecia y Roma en los tiempos posteriores o anteriores al Humanismo de los siglos XV y XVI en el ámbito de España e Hispanoamérica. Con ello se pretende recuperar autores y obras, primordialmente de los siglos XVII al XIX, que pueden despertar interés en diferentes ámbitos de investigación. Además de las ediciones, la colección recoge también estudios relacionados con la tradición clásica en sus diferentes aspectos, tanto geográficos como históricos, literarios y artísticos, que irán profusamente documentados y anotados.

The series aims at bringing together the long-divorced disciplines of the study of language, literature and culture by inviting scholars working in each of these areas to consider the unique implications of their own field in a larger epistemic context. The interdisciplinary approach of volumes in the series should allow to develop a scholarly discourse which affords a comprehensive picture of English studies. Editors wish to include both text- and corpus-based research as well as works of theoretical concern. Monographs and collections of articles appearing in the series will focus primarily on English and American language, literature and culture, but studies with a comparative slant are also invited.
