Pastoral Theology

This series encourages the theological exploration of Christianity's commitment to action, the relationship between ecclesiology and ethics, and between doctrine and practice. The discussion of the Christian acceptance or rejection of scientific innovation is welcomed, as is the examination of the emerging issues of the twenty-first century, such as genetic screening, gene therapy, insurance and genetics, genetic stigmatisation, cloning, health care and rationing, the reformulation of the just war arguments, and non-lethal weapons. Indigenous Cultures of Latin America

Indigenous Cultures of Latin America: Past and Present is a new bilingual series that welcomes book proposals, in English or Spanish, focused on the fields of anthropology, archaeology, linguistics, ethnohistory, and art history, among others. We encourage original proposals for projects that use a conjunctive approach to understanding beliefs and lifeways of prehispanic, colonial period, and contemporary indigenous peoples inhabiting Latin America, broadly defined (i.e. extending into parts of the U.S. Southeast and Southwest), relying on a combination of methodologies and data sets to interpret the subject matter. We further encourage projects that utilize decolonizing methodologies and seek to promote research and fieldwork undertaken in collaboration with local indigenous communities and/or indigenous consultants. The series will publish academic monographs, edited collections, and readers. All book proposals and manuscripts will be subject to a rigorous single-blind peer review process, conducted by experts in the respective field(s) of study. This series emphasizes issues in contemporary systematic theology but is open to theological issues from the past. Works in this series seek to explore such issues as the relation of reason and revelation, experience and doctrine, the meaning of revelation, method in theology, Trinitarian Theology, the doctrine of God, Christology, sacraments and the Church. Of course other issues such as ecumenical relations or specific doctrinal studies on topics such as predestination or studies evaluating particular influential theologians may be considered. Authors whose work is critical, constructive, and ecumenical are encouraged to consider this series. One of the aims of this series is to illustrate that Christian systematic theologians from different denominations may seek and find Christian unity through dialogue on those central issues that unite them in their quest for truth. Neo-Latin Studies / Neulateinische Studien

The Neo-Latin literature is an important factor uniting Europe as a cultural entity. It is impossible to comprehend European culture as a coherent homogenous whole without an enquiry into this literature. European culture perceived as the sum of national literatures emerges to us as incomplete and distorted as a figure reflected in a broken mirror. The series œNeo-Latin Studies shall include books concerning all aspects of Neo-Latin writing. It is our intention to pay a special attention to Central European writing of the 16th, 17th, 18th centuries and more broadly the issues of the Northern Renaissance. Books “ both collections of studies by various authors (such as its forerunner Pietas Humanistica, 2006) and individual monographs “ will be published both in English and German. The Studies in Episcopal and Anglican Theology series endeavors to tap into both established and emerging scholars to engage with theological issues that reflect the breadth of thought in their particular Christian traditions. As we move through the early years of the 21st century, it is clear that there have been numerous theological issues and controversies that have occupied the energy and imagination of members of all Christian denominations, including the Episcopal Church and the worldwide Anglican Communion. Monographs, revised dissertations, and compilations of essays addressing issues of ecumenical and interfaith relations, as well as human sexuality and gender equality, authority of scripture and ecclesial structures, ministry theory and praxis, sacramental theology, and religious foundations for social advocacy are especially appropriate for the series.

Bible and Theology in Africa

The 20th century made sub-Saharan Africa a Christian continent. This formidable church growth is reflected in a wide range of attempts at contextualizing Christian theology and biblical interpretation in Africa. At a grassroots level ordinary Christians express their faith and read the Bible in ways reflecting their daily situation; at an academic level, theologians and biblical scholars relate the historical traditions and sources of Christianity to the socio- and religio-cultural context of Africa. In response to this, the series Bible and Theology in Africa aims at making African theology and biblical interpretation its subject as well as object, as the concerns of African theologians and biblical interpreters will be voiced and critically analyzed. Both Africans and Western authors are encourgared to consider this series.

This series publishes titles from any area of Iberian and Latin American Studies that explore issues relating to questions of identity. The series accepts for publication scholarly monographs and collections of essays that aim to further our knowledge and understanding of the lives of individuals and communities who speak any of the languages of the Iberian Peninsula or Latin America. Ideas and concepts of identity can be explored at various levels, ranging from the individual to the national or international, and in different media. "This series deals with the relationship between literary creation and the social, political, and historical contexts in which it is produced. The types of volumes may include critical analyses of one or more works by one or several authors; critical editions of important works that may have been out of print for a long time, but which represent a major contribution to literature of the Iberian Peninsula or Latin America, English translations of important works, with critical introduction. Topics for Latin America include: studies of representative works of nineteenth- and twentieth-century thought, poetic portrayals of history, subgenres (fictionalization of the rural and urban social structures); historical novels; literature of exile; re-readings of colonial texts; new approaches to the figure of the Indian and other representatives of transculturation; women writers and other less studied authors. Topics for Spain and Portugal include: writing and nationalism in the Spanish State; bilingualism and the literary texts; censorship and exile; new and renewed genres such as autobiography and testimony; the formation of the avant-garde. Formal studies are expected to bear out the general contextual focus of the series. The use of recent developments in literary criticism is especially appropriate. Early Christianity in the Context of Antiquity

The series ECCA (Early Christianity in the Context of Antiquity) seeks to publish monographs and edited volumes that take as their theme early Christianity and its connections with the religion(s) and culture(s) of antiquity and late antiquity. Special attention is given to the interactions between religion and culture, as well as to the influences that diverse religions and cults had on one another. Works published in ECCA extend chronologically from the second century B.C.E. to the fifth century C.E. and geographically across the expanse of the Roman empire and its immediate neighbors. Prior to publication, the quality of the work published in this series is reviewed by the editors of the series and by members of the academic advisory board. Proposals are welcome for mongraphs or edited volumes.
