Early Christianity in the Context of Antiquity

The series ECCA (Early Christianity in the Context of Antiquity) seeks to publish monographs and edited volumes that take as their theme early Christianity and its connections with the religion(s) and culture(s) of antiquity and late antiquity. Special attention is given to the interactions between religion and culture, as well as to the influences that diverse religions and cults had on one another. Works published in ECCA extend chronologically from the second century B.C.E. to the fifth century C.E. and geographically across the expanse of the Roman empire and its immediate neighbors. Prior to publication, the quality of the work published in this series is reviewed by the editors of the series and by members of the academic advisory board. Proposals are welcome for mongraphs or edited volumes. Die Reihe ECCA (Early Christianity in the Context of Antiquity) zielt auf die Publikation von Monographien und Sammelbänden, die sich thematisch mit dem frühen Christentum und seinen Beziehungen zu Religion(en) und Kultur(en) der Antike und Spätantike befassen. Dabei gilt das besondere Augenmerk den Wechselwirkungen, die Religion und Kultur aufeinander ausüben, sowie den Einflüssen, die die verschiedenen Religionen und Kulte aufeinander hatten. Zeitlich erstrecken sich die in ECCA publizierten Arbeiten auf das 2. Jh. v. Chr. bis zum 5. Jh. n.Chr., geographisch auf den Raum des Imperium Romanum und seiner unmittelbaren Nachbarn. Die Qualität der in dieser Reihe erscheinenden Arbeiten wird vor der Publikation durch die Herausgeber der Reihe sowie durch Mitglieder des Wissenschaftlichen Beirates geprüft. Projektvorschläge (Monographien oder Sammelbände) sind willkommen. "From Antiquity to Modernity: Studies on Middle Eastern and Asian Societies is a series focusing on aspects central to Middle Eastern, Central Asian, and South Asian societies in the past and the present. It is designed to contribute toward better understandings of those important regions’ peoples. Original research within the disciplines of anthropology, archeology, art history, cultural studies, economics, history, history of science, international relations, languages, literatures, politics, religions, and sociology will be published. Interdisciplinary, cross-disciplinary, and multidisciplinary studies are welcome as well. So are ones that advance methodologies relating to complexities of the Middle East, Central Asia, and South Asia. Manuscripts can be single- authored or co-authored; edited volumes that form a cohesive body of knowledge will be considered, too. Each book-length manuscript will undergo editorial and peer review prior to acceptance for publication. Individual volumes in From Antiquity to Modernity are of particular value to individuals studying and investigating the Middle East and Asia at universities, think tanks, and governmental and nongovernmental agencies while also being of interest to the general educated reader. Bochumer Schriften zum Steuerrecht

Die Bochumer Schriften zum Steuerrecht werden seit 2004 von Prof. Dr. Roman Seer herausgegeben. Prof. Dr. Seer ist Inhaber des Lehrstuhls für Steuerrecht und Direktor des Forschungsinstituts für Steuerrecht und Steuervollzug an der Ruhr-Universität Bochum. In dem Forschungsinstitut werden Dissertationen, Habilitationen und andere wissenschaftliche Vorhaben persönlich betreut und gebündelt. Die Erkenntnisse der Arbeiten finden überwiegend Eingang diese Schriftenreihe. Neben rechtsvergleichenden Arbeiten im internationalen Kontext steht dabei insbesondere die Wechselbezüglichkeit zwischen dem materiellen Steuerrecht einerseits und dessen Vollzug in der Praxis andererseits im Fokus. America Romana

Im Wintersemester 2009/2010 wurde an der Universität Trier eine neue Forschungseinrichtung mit dem Namen America Romana Centrum (ARC) gegründet, die der auf Amerika zentrierten romanistischen Forschung und Lehre einen institutionellen Rahmen gibt. Ziel des ARC ist es, die Tradition der sprachenübergreifenden Romanistik, die für Europa so beeindruckende Resultate geliefert hat, auf Amerika anzuwenden: Das Französische in Kanada, der Karibik und in Südamerika (Guyana), das Spanische als Staatssprache von 19 Ländern zwischen dem Rio Grande und Feuerland sowie das Portugiesische in Brasilien sollen ebenso wie franko- und ibero-kreolische Varianten bzw. die nach Amerika verpflanzten Ausprägungen des Italienischen (und neuerdings des Rumänischen) im Zentrum der Aufmerksamkeit stehen. Die interdisziplinären Auseinandersetzungen mit dem Raum America Romana fokussieren gegenseitige Beeinflussungen, aber auch Abgrenzungen sowie Berührungen mit anderen Sprachen, Literaturen und Kulturen.

Wichtige Forschungsaspekte sind dabei die Intermedialität, die Wissensetablierung und -vermittlung sowie Funktionalität und Einflüsse von Text- und Diskurshandlungen auf die Öffentlichkeit. Darüber hinaus werden in die Reihe auch kulturlinguistische Arbeiten aufgenommen, die aus intra- und interkultureller Sicht ein bestimmtes Spektrum von Sprachhandlungen innerhalb von Kulturgemeinschaft(en) thematisieren.

Intradisziplinäre Forschung zur Compliance

Gegenstand dieser Schriftenreihe sind wirtschaftsrechtliche Forschungsarbeiten, die in wissenschaftlicher Hinsicht intradisziplinär angelegt und auf praxisrelevante Fragestellungen der „Compliance“ ausgerichtet sind. Es werden Problemkomplexe aus dem Blickwinkel verschiedener juristischer Teildisziplinen miteinander abgeglichen, um intradisziplinäre Wertungsunterschiede aufzudecken und diese – soweit möglich – aufzulösen. Diese Erkenntnisinteresse trägt die Einbindung der Rechtspraxis in den Entstehungsprozess der Arbeiten in besonderer Weise Rechnung. Der regelmäßige Austausch mit Rechtspraktikern soll gewährleisten, dass vor allem praktisch relevante Frage aufgegriffen werden, die noch keine Klärung durch Rechtsprechung und Wissenschaft erfahren haben.

Die Reihe Berliner Beiträge zur Literatur- und Kulturgeschichte bietet die Möglichkeit zur Veröffentlichung von Monographien, Aufsatzbänden oder Einzeluntersuchungen aus dem Gesamtgebiet der deutschsprachigen Literatur- und Kulturgeschichte und versteht sich als Forum unterschiedlicher methodischer und theoretischer Zugänge. Überdurchschnittliche Arbeiten zu einzelnen Autoren/Autorinnen, zu Gattungen und Sujets und zu übergreifenden thematischen Bereichen sind gleichermassen willkommen. Trotz des Reihentitels ist ein thematischer Bezug der Arbeiten auf Berlin keineswegs zwingend.

Middle and Early Modern English Texts

This series is conceived to facilitate the edition of unpublished scientific treatises written in Late Middle English (late 13th century to the very early 16th century) as well as the publication of monographs dealing with their transmission, palaeographical and dialectal features, and/or their lexical, syntactic and pragmatic characteristics. The second aspect of the series seeks to favour studies specializing in linguistic variation or any of the multi-faceted aspects of the Middle English language even from a diachronic perspective. The Late Middle English Texts series is directed towards a wide scholarly readership that includes Textual Edition, Textual Criticism and Transmission – especially on electronic and digital formats both as standalone and online –, Ecdotics, History of Science, History of the English Language and Linguistics, Late Medieval Studies, History of Cultural Artifacts and Librarianship. The chronological scope we contemplate will range approximately from the mid 1200's to the early 1500's, and will include both manuscripts, incunabula and early prints that have come down to us in English, with the occasional excursion into analogues in other languages. Editions will include codicological and language studies that will enhance the relevance of the text within the cultural transmission European framework. The series includes both scholarly and academic editions and monograph studies with a specialised and comprehensive focus. Thematic and teaching textual anthologies will also be considered for the series. We do not aim primarily at publishing collected papers from conferences, symposia, meetings and other scholarly reunions, unless the occasion had a very relevant topic and was strongly coherent and specialised in its discussions. Each publication is subject to a rigorous blind double peer-review system that involves at least five readers from five different institutions (Universities or Research Institutes).

The Early American Literature and Culture series aims at providing a forum for discussions of interdisciplinary approaches to American literary culture in the broadest sense of the term. The series Sources and Studies in Music History from Antiquity to the Present treats a wide range of musicological subjects from antiquity to the present day. There are editions of unknown or forgotten musical sources, biographies of composers, monographs, collections of articles and lectures. Its intention is to promote the dialogue between historical, comparative, and interdisciplinary studies, including recent developments in musicology and musical theory. Die Reihe Quellen und Studien zur Musikgeschichte von der Antike bis in die Gegenwart beschäftigt sich mit einer großen Bandbreite von musikwissenschaftlichen Themen von der Antike bis in die neueste Zeit. Hier erscheinen Quelleneditionen unbekannter oder vergessener Musikwerke, Komponistenbiographien und Monographien sowie Schriften und Vorträge. Die Reihe nimmt aber auch epochenübergreifende und interdisziplinäre Entwicklungen zum Anlass für vergleichende Studien. Ebenso werden aktuelle Entwicklungen der Musikwissenschaft und Musiktheorie als Forschungsfeld aufgegriffen.
