Founded in 1895 under the title Wiener Beiträge zur englischen Philologie and continued as Austrian Studies in English from 1995 onwards, this is one of the oldest academic series world-wide. For more than a century it has offered a platform for the publication of outstanding monographs and article collections on the languages, literatures and cultures of the anglophone world to researchers with an affiliation with Austria. We invite excellent and innovative studies on these topics to be sent to one of the editors. All manuscripts are submitted to a two-stage peer-review process to maintain the high quality of the series. *** NEW FORMAT! *** In addition to the long-standing tradition of publishing monographs and conference volumes, Austrian Studies in English now offers a new fast-track Prompts format for publication. It is an innovative format, for studies that are intermediate in length between a conventional monograph and a typical journal article (between 25,000 and 50,000 words). Its focus is thus on the succinct, yet in-depth and state-of-the-art treatment of a narrowly delimited topic. This slimmer format will allow for speedier production (while keeping the quality control and peer-review process rigorously in place), which makes this fast-track procedure particularly advantageous for topical issues in a fast-changing world. The new format is thus ideal for timely topics, which tackle current issues and under-researched areas, with particular focus on the exploration of contemporary questions and interdisciplinary research. Combining traditional strengths with an openness to innovation, this series offers monographs and essay collections ranging from studies in historical linguistics to analyses of Early Modern literature and beyond, as well as scholarly editions of medieval English and relevant Latin texts. Reflecting LMU Munich's strong track record in sound philological research, it is also open to literary and cultural studies – and to submissions from outside Munich. Its languages are English and German. The series was formerly known as Münchener Universitätsschriften. Die Reihe kombiniert traditionelle Stärken mit innovativer Öffnung: Sie bietet Monographien und Sammelbände, die thematisch von historischer Linguistik bis zur Literatur der frühen Neuzeit und darüberhinaus reichen, aber auch Editionen englischer mediävistischer oder einschlägiger lateinischer Texte. Der eingeführte Reihentitel stellt auf die anerkannte Stärke der Münchener anglistischen Philologie ab, doch ausdrücklich sind auch literatur- und kulturwissenschaftliche Untersuchungen willkommen – ebenso wie Arbeiten von außerhalb Münchens. Die Reihe erscheint in deutscher und englischer Sprache. Die Reihe wurde bisher unter dem Titel Münchener Universitätsschriften geführt.

Studies in English Medieval Language and Literature

The series “Studies in English Medieval Language and Literature“ aims at providing a forum for studies in the fields of English linguistics and literature. The monographs and collected volumes focus on various aspects of historical linguistics, old and middle English grammar, language contact and linguistic borrowing, as well as many others. Founding editor of the series was Jacek Fisiak (1936–2019).

The series will include original monographs as well as collective works and outstanding doctoral and postdoctoral dissertations (Habilitationsschriften) on various aspects of English Linguistics, English language teaching and language acquisition as well as literature in English. The Warsaw Studies in English Language and Literature came into being in 2009 as a series published by Warsaw Division of the Lodz Academy of Management. Eight volumes have come out to date. In the area of Linguistics special emphasis will be laid on works on Historical English Linguistics, Congnitive Linguistics, Pragmatics and Text Linguistics as well as translation studies. In the area of literature the series will focus on English medieval literature, medievalism, contemporary English literature, post colonial as well as American Literature. The series is open to scholars from Poland and abroad. Contributions to English and American Literary Studies provides visibility for excellent work on English, American and Anglophone literatures. The series publishes monographs and thematically focused volumes by emerging as well as established scholars engaged in exploring literary writing from the early modern period to the present as a rich imaginary form of cultural, political, and intellectual analysis. Open to a variety of theories and methods, CEALS is dedicated to strengthening the scholarly discussion of literary texts and their interconnections with cultural and historical, transatlantic and global contexts. Text – Meaning – Context: Cracow Studies in English Language, Literature and Culture

The series aims at bringing together the long-divorced disciplines of the study of language, literature and culture by inviting scholars working in each of these areas to consider the unique implications of their own field in a larger epistemic context. The interdisciplinary approach of volumes in the series should allow to develop a scholarly discourse which affords a comprehensive picture of English studies. Editors wish to include both text- and corpus-based research as well as works of theoretical concern. Monographs and collections of articles appearing in the series will focus primarily on English and American language, literature and culture, but studies with a comparative slant are also invited.

Hence we encourage diverse, interdisciplinary, comparative and multi-faceted takes that may blend sophisticated, theoretical analyses with pragmatic discussions, enabling new ways of thinking and interpreting human experience.
