    Studies in international relations, particularly historical, stem from the changing face of diplomacy over time, where the deeper forces at play, such as those once defined by Pierre Renouvin, are taken into account. Individual states, and those who define and implement their policies, are placed at the heart of global life. According to this concept, countries pursue a course of action by taking advantage of the most diverse range of tools they can rely on, such as economic or cultural resources, which act alone or interact with others. The study of international relations grew into different fields of analysis during the 20th century, but it is now subject to a new scrutiny in this era of globalisation. This concept, which coincides with the development of neo-liberal analysis since the 1980s, reveals a new awareness about the increased number of actors NGOs and multinational companies, for example but also the large autonomy they enjoy when it comes to action. This series aims to portray these new perspectives and their impact on current research. Without casting aside studies in international relations that focus on states, it tries to better understand the diverse range of factors that play out on the world stage and how they relate to each other from the high stakes in sport to the use of colonial memory. This series targets academics and analysts who wish to apply 20th century history to contemporary thought. L’étude des relations internationales, tout particulièrement dans le champ historique, est issue d’une histoire diplomatique largement rénovée à travers la prise en compte des forces profondes telles que les a jadis définies Pierre Renouvin. Elle place les États et ceux qui sont chargés de définir et de mettre en œuvre leur politique au cœur de la vie internationale. Selon cette conception, les États conduisent leur action en jouant sur la palette des moyens les plus divers sur lesquels ils peuvent s’appuyer, tels que l’économie ou la culture, et qui agissent ou interagissent les uns par rapport aux autres. La démultiplication des champs d’analyse de la vie internationale se développe ainsi tout au long du XXe siècle, mais est l’objet d’un nouveau regard en ces temps de mondialisation. Cette dernière, contemporaine du développement des analyses néo-libérales depuis les années 1980, témoigne tout à la fois de la prise de conscience de la démultiplication des acteurs en présence – ONG, entreprises multinationales par exemple – et de la large autonomie d’action de ces multiples acteurs. La collection « enjeux internationaux » se veut représentative de ces perspectives renouvelées et de leur impact sur les recherches actuelles. Sans abandonner l’étude des relations internationales centrées sur les États, elle cherche à mieux appréhender la diversité des segments qui composent le champ international et le mode de relations entre ces derniers : de l’enjeu que constitue le sport à celui de l’usage de la mémoire coloniale. Elle s’adresse ainsi aux universitaires et analystes souhaitant interroger les grandes thématiques du siècle dernier au service d’une réflexion sur le présent.

    This is a series of red-hot women's writing after the "isms." lt focuses on new cultural assemblages that are emerging from the deformation, breakout, ebullience, and discomfort of postmodern feminism. The series brings together a post-foundational generation of women's writing that, while still respectful of the idea of situated knowledge, does not rely on neat disciplinary distinctions and stable political coalitions. This writing transcends some of the more awkward textual performances of a first generation of "ferninism-meets-postmodernism" scholarship. lt has come to terms with its own body of knowledge as shifty, inflammatory, and ungovernable, The aim of the series is to make this cutting edge thinking more readily available to undergraduate and postgraduate students, researchers and new academics, and professional bodies and practitioners. Thus, we seek contributions from writers whose unruly scholastic projects are expressed in texts that are accessible and seductive to a wider academic readership. Proposals and/or manuscripts are invited from the domains of: "post" humanities, human movement studies, sexualities, media studies, literary criticism, information technologies, history of ideas, performing arts, gay and lesbian studies, cultural studies, post-colonial studies, pedagogics, social psychology, and the philosophy of science.     «Euroclio» is a scientific and editorial project, a network of research institutions and researchers, and an ideas forum. «Euroclio» as an editorial project consists of two aspects: the first concerns studies and documents, the second concerns tools. Both are aimed at making the results of research more accessible, and also at opening up paths through the history of European construction/integration/unification. The «Euroclio» series meets a dual objective: – to provide reference tools for research, – to provide a platform for this research in terms of the publication of results. The series thus consists of two sub-series that satisfy these requirements: the «Études et Documents» (Studies and Documents) series and the «Références» (References) series. These two series are aimed at general libraries and/or university history departments, teachers and researchers, and in certain cases, specific professional circles. « Euroclio » est un projet scientifique et éditorial, un réseau d’institutions de recherche et de chercheurs, un forum d’idées. « Euroclio », en tant que projet éditorial, comprend deux versants : le premier versant concerne les études et documents, le second versant les instruments de travail. L’un et l’autre visent à rendre accessibles les résultats de la recherche, mais également à ouvrir des pistes en matière d’histoire de la construction/intégration/unification européenne.     «Religions and Discourse» explores religious language in the major world faiths from various viewpoints, including semiotics, pragmatics and cognitive linguistics, and reflects on how it is situated within wider intellectual and cultural contexts. In particular a key issue is the role of figurative speech. Many fascinating metaphors originate in religion e.g. revelation as a ‘garment’, apostasy as ‘adultery’, loving kindness as the ‘circumcision of the heart’. Every religion rests its specific orientations upon symbols such as these, to name but a few. The series strives after the interdisciplinary approach that brings together such diverse disciplines as religious studies, theology, sociology, philosophy, linguistics and literature, guided by an international editorial board of scholars representative of the aforementioned disciplines. Though scholarly in its scope, the series also seeks to facilitate discussions pertaining to central religious issues in contemporary contexts. The series will publish monographs and collected essays of a high scholarly standard.

    The Liturgical Studies series provides a forum for scholars of matters related to the theory and practice of ritual and worship. Titles in this series may address liturgical history, liturgical theology, ritual studies, or interdisciplinary writing and research centered on topics related to liturgical aspects of both secular and religious culture. Approaches may be multi-disciplinary, concentrated in a single aspect of liturgical studies, or focused on performance theory in worship. Included in this series are discussions addressing either the worship practices of one religious tradition or inter-faith liturgical studies research. Also appropriate are discussions concerning the political, sociological, economic, or psychological dimensions of religious worship or non-religious ritual.

  • Post-Anthropocentric Inquiry

    In recent years, critical researchers, educators, and activists have become aware of the problems and limitations that have resulted by placing the ‘human’ at the center of all societal conceptualizations, concerns, and practices. Across fields, ranging from medical research laboratory practices—to the construction of the humanities—to the social sciences—to environmental studies (just to name a few), this anthropocentric focus is being called to question. The goal of this book series is to provide scholars and readers with critical opportunities to contest this anthropocentrism, (1) by creating a textual field of Post-Anthropocentric Inquiry that generates critical spaces for (re)thinking philosophies, knowledges, and ways of being/living and performing, as well as methodologies and inquiries, that decenter the human, (2) while at the same time attempting always/already to actively transform inequities and injustices performed by human privilege on nonhuman others, traditionally disqualified human others, and the natural world more broadly. This Post-Anthropocentric Inquiry can represent difference and the multiple, while at the same time exploring and welcoming notions of indistinction. Work that further develops and expands current notions of becoming (animal, earth), new feminist materialisms, critical posthuman sensibilities, hybrid existences (past and present) are example locations from which an intersectional, non-anthropocentric politics may emerge. Additionally, post-anthropocentric inquiry and activism will always include the unthought, not-yet-considered modes of living, thinking, research while critically acknowledging that alternatives can create new dualisms, new forms of human privilege, and are not always liberatory for those labeled not human or for those human beings who have traditionally been marginalized. Further, post-anthropocentric scholarship acknowledges, and attempts to (1) transform, the current post-anthropocentric predicament that facilitates neoliberal capitalism as all forms of life, matter, and relations have been/are constructed to serve market economies, and (2) examine the unprecedented human/nonhuman interaction with the increasingly intrusive and intimate technological order. Post-anthropocentric inquiry is necessary as related to these contemporary aggressive, and all-encompassing post-human conditions. Single or multiple authored manuscripts are encouraged that facilitate the development of Post-Anthropocentric Inquiry by addressing one issue, multiple issues, research purposes, methodologies, and/or forms of activism. Over a wide range of volumes that cross disciplines, the series will address broad issues, as mentioned above, and questions like the following: What is post-anthropocentric inquiry? What is made possible, enabled by post-anthropocentric approaches and research methodologies? How is post-anthropocentric research conducted without (re)privileging the human? How does the work in fields that would decenter the human, like critical animal studies, intersect with professional content and practices in fields like education or medicine? How can coalitions be formed (and actions taken) that decenter the human and increase possibilities for all forms of justice, while countering capitalist and technological orders that devalue all forms of life?     "For many years, the field of Childhood Studies has crossed disciplinary boundaries that include, but are not limited to, anthropology, art, education, history, humanities, and sociology by addressing diverse histories, cultures, forms of representation, and conceptualizations of «childhood». The publications in the Rethinking Childhood Series have supported this work by challenging the universalization of childhood and introducing reconceptualized, critical spaces from which increased social justice and possibilities are generated for those who are younger. This newly named Childhood Studies Series in the global 21st century is created to continue this focus on social justice for those who are younger, but also to broaden and further explore conceptualizations of privilege, justice, possibility, responsibility and activism. Authors are encouraged to consider «childhood» from within a context that would decenter human privilege and acknowledge environmental justice and the more-than-human Other, while continuing to research, act upon, and transform beliefs, public policy, societal institutions, and possibilities for ways of living/being in the world for all of us. Boundary crossings are of greater importance than ever as we live unprecedented technological change, violence against living beings that are not labeled human (through experimentation, industrialization, and medicine), plundering of the earth, and gaps between the privileged and the marginalized (whether rich/poor, human/nonhuman). Along with continued concerns related to social justice, equity, poverty, and diversity, some authors in the Childhood Studies Series will choose to think about, and ask questions like: What does it mean to be a younger human being within such a world? What are the values, education, and forms of care provided within this context; and can/how should these dispositions and practices be transformed? Can childhood studies, and the diverse forms of representation and practice associated with it, conceptualize and practice a more just world broadly, while avoiding utopian determinisms and continuing to remain critical and multiple? "

  • Critique sociale et pensée juridique

    Marginalisée pendant plusieurs décennies comme une idéologie de combat ou une entreprise fataliste, la critique sociale est revenue en force tant à la faveur des relectures contemporaines du post-structuralisme qu’à travers les perspectives nouvelles ouvertes par les diverses figures du post-marxisme et du néo-pragmatisme. Un point commun de cette « nouvelle critique sociale » est d’accueillir des recherches provenant de différents champs disciplinaires privilégiant les questions de théorie de l’action et de transformation des formes de participation collective. La présente collection propose de contribuer à ce mouvement en ciblant plus spécifiquement son impact sur la pensée juridique dans ses liens aux changements sociaux et ceci à travers deux séries spécialisées, l’une consacrées aux « études idéalistes », l’autre aux « études décoloniales ». De fait, ces deux traditions, l’une historique, l’autre actuelle, se rejoignent dans le projet d’identifier les conditions à remplir pour parvenir, collectivement, à une critique rigoureuse du pouvoir attribué à des systèmes juridiques constamment menacés par la réification de leurs pratiques et dès lors impuissants à accompagner les grands changements de société. La collection s’inscrit dans la tradition de recherche initiée par Jacques Lenoble, André Berten et Marc Maesschalck à l’Université de Louvain en théorie de la norme et en philosophie de l’action.

Por ello se presenta una edición crítica, acompañada de traducción en caso de tratarse de una obra en latín, con introducción sobre el autor y la obra, con dos tipos de notas, unas paleográficas y textuales, y otras con abundantes comentarios de contenido. Cada monografía se completa con sus correspondientes índices de antropónimos, topónimos y pasajes citados. La localización y estudio de manuscritos y ediciones en archivos y bibliotecas ha permitido recuperar y editar, de manera accesible, obras y autores poco conocidos de notable influjo cultural en España y Europa.

  • Rethinking Childhood

    Researchers in a range of fields have acknowledged that childhood is a construct emerging from modernist perspectives that have not always benefited those who are younger. The purposes of the Rethinking Childhood Series are to provide critical locations for scholarship that challenges the universalization of childhood and introduces new, reconceptualized, and critical spaces from which opportunities and possibilities are generated for those who are younger. Diverse histories and cultures are considered of major importance, as well as issues of critical social justice. Authored and edited volumes are invited. We are particularly interested in manuscripts that provide insight into the contemporary neoliberal condition experienced by those who are labeled "child," as well as volumes that illustrate life and educational experiences that challenge that condition. Rethinking childhood work related to critical education and care, childhood public policy, family and community voice, and critical social activism is encouraged.

We are especially interested in books that might be used in either advanced undergraduate or graduate courses in one or more of the following subjects: cultural or multicultural studies and the teaching of writing; feminist perspectives on composition and rhetoric; postmodernism and the theory and practice of composition; “post-process” pedagogies; values, ethics, and ideologies in the teaching of writing; information technology and composition pedagogy; the assessment of writing; authorship and intellectual property issues; and studies of oppositional discourse in the academy, particularly challenges to exclusionary or hegemonic conventions.     This series highlights leading-edge conflict transformation and peacebuilding work that is achieved through engaged scholarship in the contemporary world. Volumes in the series demonstrate the relationship between conflict and systemic issues related to culture, society, the environment, politics, history, and economics. The series emphasizes the lived experience of conflict transformation and peacebuilding for practitioners, as well as novel ways of representing the spectrum of lived experiences of people involved in conflict transformation and building. These volumes show the relationship between theory and practice, consider a variety of modes and domains of communication and interaction, and are written to engage multiple audiences.

    Musikwissenschaft und Musikpädagogik werden in dieser Reihe als zwei benachbarte musik- und kunstbezogene Disziplinen verstanden, die trotz ihrer unterschiedlichen Begründungszusammenhänge und ihrer verschiedenen Methoden, Erkenntnisinteressen und Hilfsdisziplinen ein interdisziplinäres Wissenschaftssystem bilden und sich gegenseitig stützen, erhellen und erweitern. Die Reihe setzt sich zum Ziel, fach-isolatorischen Abgrenzungen entgegen zu arbeiten und Themen aus der systematischen und historischen Musikwissenschaft mit pädagogisch didaktischen Fragen nach dem Sinn von musikalischer Bildung über Zeiten und Kulturen hinweg zu verknüpfen. Die Reihe nimmt Dissertationen, Habilitationen sowie ggf. auch Kongressberichte und thematisch entsprechend gebündelte Sammelbände in deutscher, französischer und englischer Sprache mit entsprechendem Profil auf.
