Tartu Historical Studies is the academic series by the Chair of Contemporary History at the University of Tartu, Estonia. The series’ aim is to publish peer-reviewed monographs and edited volumes in English or German on Central and Eastern European history. We encourage especially works related to topics of Baltic history.

Ce processus ouvre le devenir du français à une pluralité dont il s’agit de se donner, désormais, les moyens d’approche et de compréhension. Cela implique la prise en compte des historicités de ces différentes cultures et littératures. Dans cette optique, la collection « Documents pour l’Histoire des Francophonies » entend mettre à la disposition du chercheur et du public, de façon critique ou avec un appareil critique, des textes oubliés, parfois inédits. Elle publie également des travaux qui touchent à la complexité comme aux enracinements historiques des francophonies et qui cherchent à tracer des pistes de réflexion transversales susceptibles de tirer de leur ghetto respectif les études francophones, voire d’avancer dans la problématique des rapports entre langue et littérature. Elle comporte une série consacrée à l’Europe, une à l’Afrique, une aux Amériques, et une aux problèmes théoriques des francophonies.

Studies in Historical Linguistics

Studies in Historical Linguistics brings together work which utilises the comparative method of language study. Topics include the examination of language change over time, the genetic classification of language, lexicography, dialectology and etymology. Pronunciation, lexis, morphology and syntax are examined within the framework of historical linguistics. Both synchronic and diachronic approaches are used so that language is examined both at one time and across time. Historical Linguistics is still a young area of academic study, but it has its foundations in one of the oldest - philology. This series recognises both the seminal importance of philology, and the recent development through the conceptual framework provided by linguistic science.

Historical Sociolinguistics

The interdisciplinary field of Historical Sociolinguistics seeks to reveal the impact of language development on society and the role of individuals and society in the changing forms and usage of language. This book series is aimed at sociolinguists and social historians who are keen to publish studies on the social history of languages, the interaction of linguistic practices and society, and the sociological significance of linguistic variation with a historical dimension. The purpose of the series is to provide empirically supported studies that will challenge and advance current language historiographies, which often continue to present the history of particular languages as necessarily leading to the creation of a standard or prestige variety. Of particular interest are topics such as the following: language myths and language ideology, historical multilingualism and the formation of nation-states, the sociolinguistics of minority and regional languages, the rise of urban vernaculars, immigrants and their languages, the role of prescriptive grammarians, and the social history of pidgins and creoles. Book proposals from historians and linguists working on any language in any period are welcome, in particular those that include a comparative dimension as well as those with a strong empirical foundation. The language of publication is primarily English, though other languages may be considered. The editors guarantee that all publications in this series have been submitted to external and anonymous peer review. The four series editors and twenty-six members of the advisory board are all members of the Historical Sociolinguistics Network (HiSoN). Social and cultural processes are eminently historical. Historical research and historical studies, themselves embedded in historical contexts, meet this fact by reconstructing historical processes and by making offers for their analysis and interpretation. A series of new phenomena and transformations are currently challenging the exploration of education and formation and their different institutionalized forms. Among them, the process of dense globalization, increasing cultural transfers and entanglements, the scarcity of natural resources, the accelerated pace of the transformation of media environments and novel forms of individualization are some of the most pressing. These phenomena and transformations pose new questions for historical research in education. The book series "Studia Educationis Historica" offers historical studies that address these challenges with traditional and innovative historical research methods. The series offers analyses on the history of education in different countries as well as comparative and international studies. German, English, and Spanish are the languages of the book series. Historicidad es una dimensión fundamental de los procesos sociales y culturales. La historiografía, una práctica integrada en tramas históricas determinadas, responde a este fenómeno en tanto reconstruye procesos históricos y genera ofertas de análisis e interpretación de los mismos. Documentary Film Cultures

This series provides a space for exploring the development of documentary film cultures in the contemporary context. The series takes an ecological approach to the study of documentary funding, production, distribution and consumption by emphasizing the interconnections between these practices and those of other media systems. It thus encourages new ways of understanding documentary films or practices as part of other, wider systems of cultural production. Volumes may focus on specific sociopolitical environments, such as that of a nation or region. Alternatively, they may explore specific themes or production practices, such as new wave documentaries, environmentalism or indigenous film communities. Studies of shared technological platforms, including films that make use of embodied technologies or using emergent distribution platforms, are also welcome. The series reflects not only the maturing of literature on documentary film and media production studies over the last two decades but also the growing interest amongst nonacademic and professional audiences in documentary texts as they occupy an increasingly hybrid cultural space: part journalism, part art cinema, part activism, part entertainment, part digital culture. Studia philosophica et historica

The series provides a forum for philosophical and historical works. It is especially appropriate for projects on the history of philosophy. A key objective is to make room for philosophical topics and issues, and especially focusing on their historical and historiographical assumptions. In addition to monographs the series also contains a number of commented text editions, translations and collections of essays. Die Schriftenreihe bietet ein Forum für philosophische, philosophiegeschichtliche und historiographische Arbeiten. Ein zentrales Motiv besteht darin, philosophische Themen und Fragestellungen unter Berücksichtigung ihrer historischen bzw. historiographischen Prämissen zur Geltung zu bringen. The purpose of the «French Diplomatic Documents» (DDF) is to present year on year the most significant documents relating to French Foreign Policy – preserved by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs. A rigorous scientific method is employed for the document selection undertaken by independent groups of scholars and historians under the direction of eminent academics. For this purpose, the groups of scholars are provided complete access to all archives, produced or received by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In order to facilitate reading, the selection of the documents published is annotated using a methodical table, footnotes and an index of names. The DDF series is an indispensable tool for information concerning the history of international relations and French diplomacy during the course of the 20th century.
