Histories of Religious Pluralism

This new book series will show that a critical understanding of religious pluralism in the past is of vital significance to debates about identity, diversity, and co-existence in the present. Studies will focus on using a historical perspective to address one of three key themes in the period between 1500 and 2000 CE: intra-religious pluralism; inter-religious pluralism; or, religion, secularism, and the nation state. Within this frame of reference, constructive contrasts between a wide range of foci, approaches, and viewpoints will be keenly encouraged. The series will champion established lines of research in political, social, cultural, and gendered histories of religious pluralism – e.g. studies on liberty, persecution, and toleration – whilst also encouraging novel ways of transcending a scholarly discourse which is dominated by ideologies and methodologies derived from the social sciences – e.g. by studies on the theological and literary dimensions of conflict, cohesion, and community. The series will embrace scholarship on subjects from any part of the world. European and extra-European perspectives that complement traditional Anglo-American thinking are particularly welcome. As the ‘global turn’ continues to energize new types of enquiry, the series will also seek to advance studies of indigenous and displaced religious groups. With this scope there is a reflexive acknowledgement that the rationale for and defining concepts of the series are grounded in a ‘western’ intellectual tradition; however, this should serve as a challenge to prospective authors to pioneer new dialogues between ‘western’ and ‘non-western’ approaches and foci, or even surpass the dichotomy altogether. An emphasis will be given to promoting the best research of early career scholars from around the world, whilst also giving more established academics the opportunity to develop their multimedia policy-orientated work – e.g. podcasts, blogs, talks, press briefings, reports for thinktanks, governments, and public agencies etc. – into a book that would engage peers and students alike. Die Buchreihe Historia y contacto en textos indorrománicos widmet sich linguistischen Untersuchungen zu hispano- und lusoamerikanischen Sprachgemeinschaften, in denen sich im Laufe der Zeit klar idiosynkratische Merkmale herausgebildet haben. Das Ziel der Reihe besteht sowohl darin die verschiedenen aktuellen Sprachsituationen in diesen Kommunikationsräumen als auch die verschiedenen Stadien der Herausbildung und Entwicklung der amerikanischen Sprachgemeinschaften zu beschreiben und zu analysieren. Die Beschreibung und Analyse basieren auf der Arbeit mit direkten und metasprachlichen Quellen sowie deren notwendiger soziohistorischer und kultureller Kontextualisierung. Die Herausgeber der Reihe sind Prof. Dr. Martina Schrader-Kniffki (Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz) und Dr. José Carlos Huisa Téllez (Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz). La colección Historia y contacto en textos indorrománicos reúne estudios lingüísticos dedicados a espacios comunicativos hispano y lusoamericanos, en los que las comunidades de habla han ido formando a través del tiempo claros rasgos idiosincrásicos. Se pretende describir y analizar tanto las diversas situaciones lingüísticas actuales en estos espacios comunicativos como también los diferentes estadios de formación y evolución de las comunidades de habla americanas. Tales descripción y análisis se basan en el trabajo con fuentes, directas o metalingüísticas, y en su necesaria contextualización sociohistórica y cultural. La collection Histoire & Sociétés est adossée au Centre de Recherche et d’Études Histoire et Sociétés (CREHS) de l’université d’Artois (Arras, France). Elle accueille des ouvrages de recherche en histoire qui s’inscrivent dans l’un ou plusieurs des trois champs privilégiés du CREHS　: l’histoire de l’éducation, c’est-à-dire celle des institutions scolaires et universitaires, des élèves et des professionnels de l’enseignement　en Europe　; l’histoire des identités religieuses de l’Antiquité à nos jours en Europe　; l’histoire des patrimoines, des territoires matériels et immatériels qui les accueillent et de l’économie qui les fait vivre. La collection est ouverte à tout auteur, qu’il soit membre du CREHS ou non, sous réserve qu’il satisfasse à la ligne éditoriale. Les ouvrages publiés au sein de la collection peuvent être des monographies, des ouvrages collectifs ou des éditions scientifiques de documents. Ils s’adressent aux chercheurs, aux enseignants, aux étudiants et, plus largement, à tous les publics amateurs d’histoire intéressés par le passé de nos sociétés.

La collection «Histoire de l’énergie» est née du constat de l’éparpillement des publications sur le thème de l’énergie, au moment même où les approches sont en train d’être profondément renouvelées. Le projet scientifique de la collection consiste à rendre compte, par des publications de thèses, d’actes de colloques ou de travaux de recherche, de la diversité des approches scientifiques. L’objectif est de proposer une vaste réflexion sur les différentes énergies, tant pour ce qui est de leur production que de leur consommation. Les acteurs (entreprises, États, consommateurs), les marchés, les modes de vie conduisent à privilégier une approche globale dans laquelle les différentes énergies sont tout à la fois concurrentes et complémentaires.En adoptant ces perspectives volontairement larges, la collection «Histoire de l’énergie» entend servir de point d’ancrage à des travaux académiques et de faciliter leur diffusion. The series «History of Energy» brings together diverse academic publications on questions of energy, at a time when academic approaches are undergoing profound changes. The series aims to show the variety of these approaches by publishing PhD theses, conference proceedings and other research. Actors (such as companies, states and consumers), markets and lifestyles all contribute to the global analysis developed in the series, in which all aspects of energy are considered. The series provides an outlet for new and original contributions to the history of energy.
