La collection «Histoire de l’énergie» est née du constat de l’éparpillement des publications sur le thème de l’énergie, au moment même où les approches sont en train d’être profondément renouvelées. Le projet scientifique de la collection consiste à rendre compte, par des publications de thèses, d’actes de colloques ou de travaux de recherche, de la diversité des approches scientifiques. L’objectif est de proposer une vaste réflexion sur les différentes énergies, tant pour ce qui est de leur production que de leur consommation. Les acteurs (entreprises, États, consommateurs), les marchés, les modes de vie conduisent à privilégier une approche globale dans laquelle les différentes énergies sont tout à la fois concurrentes et complémentaires.En adoptant ces perspectives volontairement larges, la collection «Histoire de l’énergie» entend servir de point d’ancrage à des travaux académiques et de faciliter leur diffusion. The series «History of Energy» brings together diverse academic publications on questions of energy, at a time when academic approaches are undergoing profound changes. The series aims to show the variety of these approaches by publishing PhD theses, conference proceedings and other research. Actors (such as companies, states and consumers), markets and lifestyles all contribute to the global analysis developed in the series, in which all aspects of energy are considered. The series provides an outlet for new and original contributions to the history of energy.

"Europe of Cultures" is a series of studies, monographs, stories, research projects, reports on conferences and debates devoted to the complexities and changing realities in European societies. It bridges the past with the future at the cross road of challenges and opportunities of the transformation of European societies. The management of changes in societies refers to the interconnection of various dimensions and levels of policy-making impacting on economic, social, political, democratic, communication, philosophical, artistic, religious as well as ethical traditions and behaviour. As an editorial project the series is structured along two interconnected and complementary sub-series: i.e. the "(Europe of) Dialogues" series and the "(Europe of) Living Stories". The sub-series "(Europe of) Dialogues" mainly deals with (cultural) diversities, identity and citizenship building in Europe as well as with the relevant multi-level governance and communication structures in the transformation of European societies. Europe is a laboratory for understanding this multi- and intercultural reality. The purpose is to contribute to a better understanding and communication of the changes taking place by looking at the European societies in general, and the specificities of different national, regional and local cultures and communities in a framework of dialogues. The series presents interdisciplinary and critical views of value-driven and policy-oriented reflections. Moreover, it offers new insights into understanding how to manage, value and communicate cultural diversity, identity and citizenship. It also wants to contribute to the development of new ways of "living together", in which cultures and communities are perceived as binding forces in creative society building. The sub-series "(Europe of) Living Stories" (the former "Mémoires de l’Europe en devenir", Director Gabriel Fragnière) is devoted to inspiring narratives for a broad public with a view to contribute to a better understanding, communication and contextualisation of the newly emerging Europe. It mainly focusses on stories, memories and testimonies of persons, events, institutions and issues that have transformed mentalities, fostered European awareness and finally shaped Europe’s future. These stories serve as important references and communication tools for future developments of Europe in the world. This collection wants to be open and diverse, original and dynamic in its content, method and pedagogy faithful to Europe’s role and reference in the globalising world. Europe plurielle/Multiple Europes

The series «Multiple Europes» is multiple in two ways: it understands Europe in an interdisciplinary manner with a strong historical perspective, and it understands Europe as being inserted in transnational and global contexts. On both levels, the perspectives on Europe and the very role and understanding of Europe is multiple. The special emphasis of the series thus lies in understanding the pasts of Europe as well as its complex present. The history of Europe and the history of European integration have influenced each other in the past and will continue to do so in the future. There is an inbuilt tension in the relation between European history and the history of European integration. Europe signifies a space and semantics much broader and more complex than the EU. The relations between ideas of Europe, European history, global history and European integration need to be faced more openly. In order to do this, an open dialogue between academic disciplines is just as necessary as critical self-reflection within each discipline. Furthermore, European history was preoccupied with looking at itself and needs to be connected to global relations. La collection « Europe plurielle » tente d’’analyser à la fois la richesse du passé dont l’’Europe est issue et la complexité de son présent à travers une lecture transdisciplinaire, historique et globale – en un mot : plurielle. The series will examine the historical development of schools and educational processes, with special emphasis on issues of educational policy, curriculum and pedagogy, as well as issues relating to race, class, gender, and ethnicity. Special emphasis will be placed on the lessons to be learned from the past for contemporary educational reform and policy. Although the series will publish books related to education in the broadest societal and cultural context, it especially seeks books on the history of specific schools and on the lives of educational leaders and school founders. Studies in the History of Healthcare provides an outlet for academic monographs (sole- or multi-authored) devoted to both the social and the intellectual dimensions of the history of medicine, with a special emphasis on public health, health care and health services. The focus of the series is on the nineteenth and/or twentieth centuries, and is international in scope. The series encourages investigations into public health including environmental health, preventive medicine, responses to lifestyle diseases, and maternal and child health. It also embraces studies of health policy, health systems and state medicine, including in colonial and postcolonial settings. While studies may focus on general medicine, they would also give appropriate weight to healthcare as it relates to sectors such as indigenous peoples, older people, mentally ill and/or other vulnerable social groups. Unless they are placed in a broad context and address significant historical questions the series does not include biographies or histories of individual institutions and organisations. The monographs included in this series reflect the cutting edge of research in the now well-established and still expanding field of medical history. Studies in the History of Healthcare is a successor to Studies in the History of Medicine, formerly edited by Charles Webster.

The monographs included in this series reflect the leading edge of research in the now well-established and still expanding field of medical history.

Gender and the History of Institutions

The aim of this book series is to examine the history of institutions around the world through the lens of gender. Of interest are institutions established with the specific purpose of regulating gender and sexuality (e.g. the Magdalen asylums, Magdalen hospitals, penitentiaries, refuges, mother and baby institutions) as well as those with more general purposes where gender has had an important role in their operation and function (e.g. prisons, workhouses, lunatic asylums), including both religious and private organisations. The series supports the increasing interest in these institutions internationally, both in academia and in the treatment of ‘historical’ abuse. The series highlights the range of archives that can be considered in examining this history, not only in English-speaking countries but also in countries where the institutions described above have existed and determined the lives of many people. It will also broaden the conversation by widening the scope of institutions being considered. The series has as its main objective expanding the discussion of gender in reference to these lesser known institutions. At the same time, its purpose is to provide academia with a forum for discussion and a critical approach to the concepts of gender and institutions that attract both researchers and the general public. All projects undergo rigorous peer review before acceptance for publication.

The Yearbook on History and Interpretation of Phenomenology

“The Yearbook on History and Interpretation of Phenomenology” is a peer-reviewed annual. It includes contributions about the history of phenomenology because phenomenology has its own specific development anchored in the texts of Edmund Husserl, his predecessors and followers, its distinctive themes and problems set within the frame of the philosophical and scientific discussions of their period. The yearbook is open to inquiries about the interpretation of phenomenology and to different approaches towards understanding phenomenological research, its systematic and methodological insights and its possible contributions to contemporary discussions both about pure philosophy and within the context of more interdisciplinary research. It is also open to broader discussions with other philosophical schools of thought. Volume 5 terminates the series.

Studies in the History and Culture of Scotland

This series presents a new reading of Scottish culture, establishing how Scots, and non-Scots, experience the devolved nation. Within the context of a rapidly changing United Kingdom and Europe, Scotland is engaged in an ongoing process of self-definition. The series will deal with this process as well as with cultural phenomena, from debates about the relative value of Gaelic-based, Scots and Anglicised culture, to period-specific definitions of Scottish identity. Orally transmitted culture – from traditional narratives to songs, customs, beliefs and material culture – will be a key consideration, along with the reconstruction of historical periods in cultural texts (visual and musical as well as historical). Taken as a whole, the series will go some way towards achieving a new understanding of a country with potential for development into parallel treatments of locally based cultural phenomena. The series welcomes monographs as well as collected papers.

Die 1980 als Heidelberger Orientalische Studien von Anton Schall begründete und von Michael Ursinus, Raoul Motika und Christoph Herzog unter dem Titel Geschichte und Kultur des modernen Vorderen Orients (Heidelberger Studien) fortgeführte Reihe veröffentlicht monographische Studien und Sammelbände zu Fragen der Sozial-, Wirtschafts-, Geistes- und Regionalgeschichte des Vorderen Orients und Irans ab dem 15. Jahrhundert bis in die Gegenwart. Sie legt dabei ihren Schwerpunkt insbesondere auf Arbeiten, die die Erschließung und Auswertung bisher unbeachteten oder unerschlossenen Quellenmaterials in ihren Mittelpunkt stellen und konzentriert sich in geographischer Hinsicht auf die Gebiete des Osmanischen Reiches und seiner Nachfolgestaaten, veröffentlicht aber auch Arbeiten zu benachbarten Regionen. Die Bände 1 - 36 sind in der Reihe Heidelberger Studien zur Geschichte und Kultur des modernen Vorderen Orients erschienen.

Likewise, the publications may refer to both systematic problems and more practical considerations. Until the publication of volume 21 the title of the series was "Polish Contemporary Philosophy and Philosophical Humanities". The series aspires to present a wide and relevant overview of best Polish works in philosophy and philosophical parts of the major fields of the humanities: political and social sciences, history, religious studies or what is named in Poland "the history of ideas". The subsequent editions of books within this series are either re-editions of the works previously published in non-Polish versions, or new translations from Polish. Some books contain extended works, other ones provide collections of smaller papers. Some of the authors presented in the series are widely acknowledged and regarded to be the "classics" of Polish intellectual life in the second half of the 20th Century, others are recognized as outstanding professors today. The quality and fame of the works and authors presented in the series are the only criteria for inclusion. The series is open to all streams of Polish philosophy: from analytical philosophy, through phenomenology and hermeneutics, to existential or religious philosophies. Also the word "philosophy" should be understood very widely in this case.

This series addresses a new need. The constitution of many contemporary communities is radically diverse, and the need is to think anew about them. Through a mixture of edited collections and single-authored volumes, the series aims both to examine how radical diversity has arisen in the religious and political constitution of society and to analyse the implications for the future so as to help ensure the harmonious relations between communities and the best practice of government. Studies in the History of Religious and Political Pluralism will evaluate new trends and theories and make available the findings of empirical research which demonstrates the nature of the pluralistic world in which we live.

Elle accueille des ouvrages de recherche en histoire qui s’inscrivent dans l’un ou plusieurs des trois champs privilégiés du CREHS　: l’histoire de l’éducation, c’est-à-dire celle des institutions scolaires et universitaires, des élèves et des professionnels de l’enseignement　en Europe　; l’histoire des identités religieuses de l’Antiquité à nos jours en Europe　; l’histoire des patrimoines, des territoires matériels et immatériels qui les accueillent et de l’économie qui les fait vivre. La collection est ouverte à tout auteur, qu’il soit membre du CREHS ou non, sous réserve qu’il satisfasse à la ligne éditoriale. Les ouvrages publiés au sein de la collection peuvent être des monographies, des ouvrages collectifs ou des éditions scientifiques de documents.
