Komplexe Systeme und Ökonomie

Entwicklungen in der Wirtschaft sind häufig durch Diskontinuitäten, Sprünge und Turbulenzen gekennzeichnet. Wirtschaft und auf Wirtschaft bezogene Teilbereiche können somit als nicht-lineare, dynamische bzw. komplexe Systeme aufgefasst werden. Um diese nicht-linearen Erscheinungen zu modellieren und zu erklären, muss nach neuen Verfahren auf dem Gebiet komplexer dynamischer Systeme geforscht werden. Ein viel versprechender Ansatz ist die Theorie Komplexer Systeme, die im Wesentlichen die Chaos- und Katastrophentheorie, aber auch die Synergetik umfasst. Die Reihe will neue Forschungsfelder im Rahmen der Wirtschaftswissenschaft und ihrer Didaktik darlegen. Sie will die Möglichkeiten der Theorie Komplexer Systeme an Beispielen diskutieren, kritisch analysieren und weiterentwickeln. Dabei können sowohl die inhaltliche, die methodische sowie die mediale Perspektive als auch die Zielebene („ökonomische Bildung“) kritisch und konstruktiv thematisiert werden. Studies in international relations, particularly historical, stem from the changing face of diplomacy over time, where the deeper forces at play, such as those once defined by Pierre Renouvin, are taken into account. Individual states, and those who define and implement their policies, are placed at the heart of global life. According to this concept, countries pursue a course of action by taking advantage of the most diverse range of tools they can rely on, such as economic or cultural resources, which act alone or interact with others. The study of international relations grew into different fields of analysis during the 20th century, but it is now subject to a new scrutiny in this era of globalisation. This concept, which coincides with the development of neo-liberal analysis since the 1980s, reveals a new awareness about the increased number of actors NGOs and multinational companies, for example but also the large autonomy they enjoy when it comes to action. This series aims to portray these new perspectives and their impact on current research. Without casting aside studies in international relations that focus on states, it tries to better understand the diverse range of factors that play out on the world stage and how they relate to each other from the high stakes in sport to the use of colonial memory. This series targets academics and analysts who wish to apply 20th century history to contemporary thought. L’étude des relations internationales, tout particulièrement dans le champ historique, est issue d’une histoire diplomatique largement rénovée à travers la prise en compte des forces profondes telles que les a jadis définies Pierre Renouvin. Elle place les États et ceux qui sont chargés de définir et de mettre en œuvre leur politique au cœur de la vie internationale. Selon cette conception, les États conduisent leur action en jouant sur la palette des moyens les plus divers sur lesquels ils peuvent s’appuyer, tels que l’économie ou la culture, et qui agissent ou interagissent les uns par rapport aux autres. La démultiplication des champs d’analyse de la vie internationale se développe ainsi tout au long du XXe siècle, mais est l’objet d’un nouveau regard en ces temps de mondialisation. Cette dernière, contemporaine du développement des analyses néo-libérales depuis les années 1980, témoigne tout à la fois de la prise de conscience de la démultiplication des acteurs en présence – ONG, entreprises multinationales par exemple – et de la large autonomie d’action de ces multiples acteurs. La collection « enjeux internationaux » se veut représentative de ces perspectives renouvelées et de leur impact sur les recherches actuelles. Sans abandonner l’étude des relations internationales centrées sur les États, elle cherche à mieux appréhender la diversité des segments qui composent le champ international et le mode de relations entre ces derniers : de l’enjeu que constitue le sport à celui de l’usage de la mémoire coloniale. Elle s’adresse ainsi aux universitaires et analystes souhaitant interroger les grandes thématiques du siècle dernier au service d’une réflexion sur le présent.

The «International Triffin Foundation», hosted by the Institute for European Studies at the Université catholique de Louvain (Belgium), has the objective of establishing a centre dedicated to the continuation of the scientific work and the intellectual legacy of Robert Triffin (1911–1993) in the field of the international monetary system, and more generally in the areas of economics, finance and the social sciences. Regular publications in the series «International Financial Relations» will ensure promotion of individual or collective works whose main themes are the ones with which Robert Triffin was particularly associated (the European Payments Union, the creation of Special Drawing Rights, the European Monetary System), as well as addressing the new problems which the international monetary system will be confronting at the dawn of the 21st century (external effects of the European Economic and Monetary Union, new tasks for the International Monetary Fund, prevention of financial crises, etc.). La « Fondation internationale Triffin », établie près l’Institut d’études européennes de l’Université catholique de Louvain (Belgique), s’est fixé pour objectif de constituer un centre dédié à la poursuite du travail scientifique et à la valorisation de l’héritage intellectuel de Robert Triffin (1911-1993) sur le système monétaire international, et plus généralement dans les domaines de l’économie, de la finance et des sciences sociales. Les publications de la collection « Relations financières internationales » assurent la promotion de travaux individuels et collectifs dont les thèmes centraux sont ceux auxquels Robert Triffin était particulièrement attaché – l’Union européenne des paiements, la création de Droits de Tirage Spéciaux, le Système monétaire européen. The series provides a forum for interdisciplinary discussion of aspects of a cultural science-oriented economics. Representations of economic relationships in literature and other arts, cultural sociological studies on the relationship between art, culture and economics, linguistics and literary analysis of economic narratives and metaphors, and the importance of cultural studies concepts such as fictionality and virtuality in the context of financial economics are topics of the series. Also, studies on the design and manipulation of spaces, time management and cultural practices are within its scope. Manuscript Proposals may be submitted in literary and cultural studies, economics, sociology, and philosophy – like with comparative or interdisciplinary approach. "In the "Institutional and Socio-Economics" book series, the economy is studied as a genuinely social system of heterogeneous agents in an institutional context. The series includes a broad range of different methodological approaches, theoretical perspectives and subjects of study. Interdependencies among agents in complex social systems can be studied using evolutionary economic models, as well as institutional economic and simulation studies. Hence, the focus is being laid on approaches that are more explorative than the standard equilibrium analysis; on approaches that allow for complexity; on approaches that consider development, history, institutions, and values. Thus, we may conclude that institutions are more than just devices for the reduction of transaction costs. From an institutionalist perspective, institutions are the common and collective solutions to social decision problems, particularly social dilemma problems, coordination problems, and collective-good problems. Such solutions require ‘recognized interdependence’ and learned coordination and cooperation, thus a learned culture of a long-run perspective – emerging as the result of a process of interactions. Institutions often are transitory only, part of the ongoing dynamics, adequately modeled possibly as an evolutionary process. Also, they may be instrumental solutions to a social decision problem at first and may degenerate into ceremonial power-and-status-based phenomena later, thus limiting the possibility of further innovation and development. In a genealogy of economics, the thematic and methodological spectrum of this book series would embrace the history of thought beginning with the classics including great names such as Adam Smith and Karl Marx but also the late classics who already have struggled with issues like complexity, process, historical time, and evolution. In newer times, the spectrum continues with Veblenian, Keynesian, and Post-Keynesian thinking; it would also include works in the traditions of original institutionalist economics, ecological economics, Neo-Schumpeterian thinking, evolutionary economics, and game theory. Social economics and social policy analysis, behavioral economics, complex modeling, system dynamics, and agent-based computational economics would be embraced as well. Such lists, however, can never be exhaustive. Last not least, institutional and socio-economics deals with the epistemology and substance of values, norms and ethics, value warrants of economic behavior as well as the normative foundations of economics. This series, thus, stands in the best traditions of plural economic research areas and pluralistic theoretical perspectives. It may be called ’heterodox’, but it shall always be cutting-edge and of high quality. Enjoy exploring the works of this book series. Soziale Sicherheit

Die Reihe Soziale Sicherheit umfaßt Bücher von internationaler Tragweite über bedeutende Entwicklungen, neuste Erfahrungen sowie Grundsatzdebatten auf dem Gebiet der sozialen Sicherheit und der Sozialpolitik. Außerdem präsentiert sie Ergebnisse vergleichender und zukunftsorientierter Studien, Analysen und Forschungen in diesen Bereichen. Sie bietet den Interessierten Zugang zu aktuellen Problemen der sozialen Sicherheit in ihrer Gesamtheit oder in den einzelnen Sektoren und Zweigen, sowie zu Bewertungen der Wirkung und Effizienz der unterschiedlichen Sozialschutzmaßnahmen. Die Autoren und Herausgeber der Bände in dieser Reihe sind Experten aus Trägerorganisationen der sozialen Sicherheit, Forschungsanstalten, der akademischen Welt und internationalen Organisationen. Die Internationalen Vereinigung für Soziale Sicherheit (IVSS), ist eine 1927 gegründete internationale Organisation. Sie vereint vor allem Institutionen und Verwaltungsorgane aus Ländern der ganzen Welt, die sich mit allen Formen der sozialen Sicherheit befassen, welche aufgrund der Gesetzgebung oder von nationalen Gepflogenheiten in diesen Ländern Bestandteil des Systems sind. La collection Sécurité sociale présente des ouvrages de portée internationale sur les développements majeurs, les expériences novatrices et les principaux débats en matière de sécurité sociale et de politique sociale, ainsi que sur les résultats d'études, d'analyses et de recherches comparatives et prospectives dans ces domaines. Elle donne accès non seulement aux problèmes actuels de la sécurité sociale dans son ensemble ou de ses différents secteurs et branches mais également aux évaluations de l'impact et de l'efficacité des diverses dispositions de protection sociale. D'éminents experts issus d'organismes gestionnaires de sécurité sociale, d'institutions de recherche, de milieux universitaires et d'organisations internationales contribuent à la confection des ouvrages de cette collection. L'Association internationale de la sécurité sociale (AISS) est une organisation internationale fondée en 1927. Elle regroupe, dans les différents pays du monde, essentiellement des institutions et organismes gestionnaires de toutes les formes de protection sociale de nature obligatoire qui, en vertu des législations ou des pratiques nationales, font partie intégrante des systèmes de sécurité sociale de ces pays. International Folkloristics

This series includes theoretical studies of any genre or aspect of folklore. The series welcomes individually authored and collaboratively authored books, monographs, collections of data, bibliographies, and Festschriften. The emphasis will be on analytic and methodological innovations in the consideration of myth, folktale, legend, superstition, proverb, riddle, folksong, festival, game or any other form of folklore as well as any of the interpretative approaches to folklore topics. New International Insights/Nouveaux Regards sur l’International

In tribute to the late founder of the collection, Eric Remacle, the editors have proposed to call this book series New International Insights. The novelty thus pursued consists of inviting prospective authors also to view the situations, case-studies and dynamics they analyse and conceptualise as innovative in an increasingly multipolar world order, more than as a mere continuation of past evolutions and theories. This is the approach characterising the editors' own research. Over a quarter of a century after the end of the cold war, Eurasian as well as Transatlantic, African, Asian-Pacific and pan-American constant innovations question most analytical conclusions almost as soon as they are reached. Yet, there is a need for theory. Examples would exceed the scope of this short presentation but a worthwhile illustration can be suggested: the turning point whereby an already innovative, sino-postsoviet Asia has proven capable, while still in its affirmative stage, to engage South Asia and construct a China-Russia-India triangle that offsets or even jeopardises most existing visions of Asia, notably neo-realist ones. Traditional visions thus yield to contemporary uncertainties. While non-State actors are still causing States to wither, withdraw or falter, new transnational and even transcontinental constructions are bringing States back in, however much around different objectives: logistical and commercial, while military cooperation appears a dated and questionable form of security enforcement. New International Insights aims at balancing book publications among authors of all intellectual origins, western as well as eastern, northern as well as southern. Only in this manner can it hope to take the vision of its early founders one step further. A post-modern world needs post-western epistemology in order to wield its new meaning. Manuscripts in political science and social sciences are encouraged for submission, preferably in English, not exceeding 650 000 signs. En hommage au fondateur de l’ancienne collection Regards sur l’international, Eric REMACLE, les éditeurs ont proposé de le renommer New International Insights. Leur objectif consiste à inviter les auteurs potentiels à considérer les situations, les études de cas et les dynamiques qu'ils souhaitent analyser et conceptualiser comme innovantes dans un ordre mondial de plus en plus multipolaire, plus que comme une simple continuation des évolutions et des théories passées. C'est l'approche qui caractérise les propres recherches des éditeurs. Plus d'un quart de siècle après la fin de la guerre froide, les innovations constantes eurasiennes, transatlantiques, africaines, asiatiques-pacifiques et panaméricaines remettent en question les conclusions les plus analytiques presque aussitôt qu'elles ont été formulées. Pourtant, il y a un besoin de théorie. Les exemples dépasseraient le cadre de cette brève présentation, mais une illustration valable peut être suggérée: le tournant par lequel une Asie sino-post-soviétique déjà innovante s'est révélée capable, tout en étant au stade de sa première affirmation, d’engager l'Asie du Sud et de construire une relation triangulaire Chine-Russie-India qui bouscule, voire remet en question la plupart des visions existantes de l’Asie, notamment les visions néoréalistes. Les visions traditionnelles cèdent ainsi aux incertitudes contemporaines. Alors que les acteurs non-étatiques provoquent toujours le recul, le retrait ou le trébuchement des États, de nouvelles constructions trans-nationales et même trans-continentales, font «　revenir　» les États, même si c’est autour d’objectifs différents: logistiques et commerciaux, tandis que la coopération militaire apparaît comme une forme datée et remise en question de mise en œuvre de la sécurité . New International Insights vise à équilibrer les publications de livres d'auteurs de toutes origines intellectuelles, occidentales et orientales, d’auteurs du Nord et du Sud. Ce n’est qu’ainsi que l’on pourra espérer faire avancer la vision de ses premiers fondateurs. Un monde post-moderne a besoin d’une épistémologie post-occidentale pour dévoiler sa nouvelle signification. International Healthcare Ethics

Issues in healthcare ethics affect almost every person all over the world. The immense leaps in science and technology, changes in the general perception of national and global interests, possible limits in resources, mass communication, and other possible limits in resources, mass communication, and other factors have currently engendered a stronger interest and concern with health. This may range from the commonly discussed issues of euthanasia, abortion, macro- and microallocation of resources, and mandatory AIDS testing to the less frequently addressed but still vital issues in pharmacology, genetic testing, screening and therapy, nursing, mental health, and public health. Books, articles, and scholarly studies appear frequently in many countries. In each, the literature tends to consider the ethics of healthcare issues in depth but from a standpoint defined by culture and nationality, and by national government policies and perspectives. Such a standpoint necessarily limits and excludes many potentially useful and innovative approaches to issues. The International Healthcare Ethics series presents a broad perspective on a wide range of healthcare issues and the exchange of ideas between cultures and nations to stimulate thought. It also offers a forum for addressing healthcare issues that can affect each of us on a global scale. Manuscripts are welcome from universities, bioethics centers, and healthcare organizations.
