Internationalism and the Arts

Internationalism and the Arts explores the multiple ways in which the arts have operated internationally, responded to internationalist ideology, and helped shape thinking about world organization. The series challenges the emphasis on nationalism and national schools that has developed over the past 250 years. Instead, it draws attention to internationalist art and ideology; the lives and work of cosmopolitan artists and theorists; international networks, systems and practices; and societies that promote international exchange. The series speaks to the rise of transnationalism as a major approach across a number of research fields. Within this literature, it addresses a relative dearth of publications which focus on international art practice as a crucial element of human experience. Proposals are invited across the performing and visual arts, including art history, music, dance and theatre. Our geographical scope is global and we welcome projects that look beyond the Western world or that examine cross-cultural exchanges. We are open to proposals for monographs and edited collections, anthologies of primary sources and textbooks, and scholarly catalogues that showcase visual material. All proposals and manuscripts will be subject to peer review.

This series publishes monographs and edited collections on the history, present condition and possible future role of organised labour around the world. Multidisciplinary in approach, geographically and chronologically diverse, this series is dedicated to the study of trade unionism and the undeniably significant role it has played in modern society. Topics include the historical development of organised labour in a variety of national and regional settings; the political, economic and legal contexts in which trade unionism functions; trade union internationalism past and present; comparative and cross-border studies; trade unions’ role in promoting economic equality and social justice; and trade union revitalisation and future prospects. The aims of the series are to promote an appreciation of the diversity of trade union experience worldwide and to provide an international forum for lively debate on all aspects of the subject.

Dieter Dörr und Udo Fink lehren an der Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz Öffentliches Recht, Völker- und Europarecht sowie Medienrecht. Rolf Schwartmann ist Professor für Bürgerliches Recht und Wirtschaftsrecht, insbesondere Öffentliches und Internationales Wirtschaftsrecht an der Fachhochschule Köln. In der Schriftenreihe erscheinen in regelmäßigen Abständen herausragende Dissertationen, die thematisch einschlägig aber nicht notwendig in Mainz entstanden sind. Aufgenommen werden darüber hinaus Habilitationsschriften, Antrittsvorlesungen und Tagungsbände. Ein Anliegen der Reihe ist dabei, durch Aufnahme entsprechender Titel der stetig wachsenden Verzahnung dieser Rechtsgebiete Rechnung zu tragen. The «International Triffin Foundation», hosted by the Institute for European Studies at the Université catholique de Louvain (Belgium), has the objective of establishing a centre dedicated to the continuation of the scientific work and the intellectual legacy of Robert Triffin (1911–1993) in the field of the international monetary system, and more generally in the areas of economics, finance and the social sciences. Regular publications in the series «International Financial Relations» will ensure promotion of individual or collective works whose main themes are the ones with which Robert Triffin was particularly associated (the European Payments Union, the creation of Special Drawing Rights, the European Monetary System), as well as addressing the new problems which the international monetary system will be confronting at the dawn of the 21st century (external effects of the European Economic and Monetary Union, new tasks for the International Monetary Fund, prevention of financial crises, etc.). Située au cœur de l’Europe, l’Allemagne occupe une position clé sur la scène internationale et représente un enjeu majeur pour ses voisins. C’est pourquoi cette collection entend rassembler des études portant sur la ou les Allemagnes dans ses rapports aux Autres du début du XXe siècle à aujourd’hui. Collection d’histoire et de relations internationales ouvertes aux disciplines proches à démarche historique, elle rassemble des ouvrages analysant les évolutions inter- et transnationales entre les États et les sociétés. Elle est ouverte aux approches comparées, croisées, connectées et aux processus d’échanges dans les champs politique, culturel, économique, scientifique, sociétal ou mémoriel. La collection s’articule principalement autour de monographies et d’ouvrages collectifs, éventuellement de l’édition scientifique de documents. Une attention spéciale sera accordée aux travaux des jeunes chercheurs et aux projets menés dans le cadre de coopérations franco-allemandes ou multilatérales. Studies in European Archaeology

This series will primarily focus on the publication of excavations which have occurred in Britain over the last twenty years, particularly those that have been developer-funded, which are of equal weight and significance as research excavations. This series is a broad-church archaeological series, primarily focussing on excavation reports of regionally or nationally significant sites (sometimes compiled with other sites sharing a common thread), but also a home for edited collections of academic papers, and individual academic theses. It is not limited to particular periods, as this is not the reality with many archaeological sites. The publication of «commercial» excavations is often inhibited for one reason or another. In some instances, this has primarily arisen through a lack of contact between commercial archaeologist and academic publishers. Local journals and regional publishers are often inundated with submission and are not able to accept new papers or have long waiting list. This series is unique, attractive in its flexibility and diversity, but also appealing in its mission and focus to bring to light nationally and internationally important excavations.

This series publishes monographs, edited collections and reprints of classic studies on the history and the contemporary role of sport, primarily in Britain and Europe but including other parts of the world. The editors wish to make available the very best of recent doctoral and post-doctoral work in the subject area whilst also looking to established scholars for major new books or collections of articles. Although the focus of the series is historical, it also embraces more contemporary interdisciplinary studies of the role of sport as a local, national and global phenomenon. The series includes both new and established areas of research into the class, age and gender dimensions of sport as well as its political and ideological aspects, including nationalism, imperialism and post-colonialism. The editors wish to encourage economic and transnational studies of sport as well as new work on ethnicity, sports literature and material culture. The series will also reflect on the significance for the writing of sports history of new cultural and theoretical debates. Genuinely international in approach, the series also seeks to publish English translations of some of the most outstanding scholarship on the history and culture of sport in Europe, South America and beyond. The series aims to act as a focus for the historical study of sport internationally and facilitate interdisciplinary debate on the subject.

Gender and the History of Institutions

The aim of this book series is to examine the history of institutions around the world through the lens of gender. Of interest are institutions established with the specific purpose of regulating gender and sexuality (e.g. the Magdalen asylums, Magdalen hospitals, penitentiaries, refuges, mother and baby institutions) as well as those with more general purposes where gender has had an important role in their operation and function (e.g. prisons, workhouses, lunatic asylums), including both religious and private organisations. The series supports the increasing interest in these institutions internationally, both in academia and in the treatment of ‘historical’ abuse. The series highlights the range of archives that can be considered in examining this history, not only in English-speaking countries but also in countries where the institutions described above have existed and determined the lives of many people. It will also broaden the conversation by widening the scope of institutions being considered. The series has as its main objective expanding the discussion of gender in reference to these lesser known institutions. At the same time, its purpose is to provide academia with a forum for discussion and a critical approach to the concepts of gender and institutions that attract both researchers and the general public. All projects undergo rigorous peer review before acceptance for publication.

The legal and political significance of human rights has increased enormously at the international and European levels. It has become increasingly clear that the respect and promotion of human rights must be at the centre of States and local communities' public policies and that human rights are the basis of civil society initiatives and movements. There is a large mechanism, at all levels of governance, monitoring the way in which States implement the obligations they have assumed towards each person under their sovereignty. The Italian Yearbook of Human Rights Series provides year by year, a dynamic and up-to date overview of the measures Italy has taken to adapt its legislation and policies in line with international human rights law and to comply with the commitments voluntarily assumed by the Italian Government at the international level. The book series thus intends to contribute to the continuous monitoring activity of the human rights situation in Italy undertaken at the local, national and international levels by the relevant intergovernmental and civil society actors. Each volume of this series surveys the activities carried out, during the year of reference, by the relevant national and local Italian actors, including governmental bodies, civil society organisations and universities. It also presents reports and recommendations that have been addressed to Italy by international monitoring bodies within the framework of the United Nations, the Council of Europe and the European Union. Finally, each Yearbook provides a selection of examples from international and national case law that cast light on Italy’s position vis-à-vis internationally recognised human rights. The Yearbook is edited by the Human Rights Centre of the University of Padua, in cooperation with the UNESCO Chair in Human Rights, Democracy and Peace of the same university, and with the support of the Region of Veneto. The Centre, established in 1982, carries out research and education following a global and interdisciplinary approach. It hosts the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence on intercultural dialogue, human rights and multi-level governance.

Over the past three decades, terminology research has known an unprecedented diversification – both in terms of its object(s) and its methods and achievements. Long confined to the field of engineering sciences and techniques, with a strong focus on standardization issues, it is now an interdisciplinary field at the crossroads of language sciences, information and communication sciences, cognitive sciences and Artificial Intelligence. Socioterminology, ethnoterminology, ontoterminology, pragmatic terminology, diachronic terminology, cognitive terminology, corporate terminology, terminology and the dissemination of science, terminology and the societal impact of research ... – only to name a few of the many names and/or approaches used to illustrate how terms and terminologies are now being explored as giving access to domains, internationalization, professional fields, marketing, etc ... . The new Plural Terminologies series is intended as a forum for academic exchange, open to this plurality of approaches, and welcomes monographs (including works resulting from doctoral dissertations or habilitations/professoral theses) or collective volumes (including conference proceedings, after a mandatory in-depth editorial work guaranteeing the coherence of the whole). Strongly committed to multilingualism in research and scientific publications, it does not limit itself to English, but also welcomes manuscripts in German, Spanish, French, Italian and Portuguese. La recherche en terminologie connaît depuis trois décennies une diversification sans précédent, tant dans ses objets que dans ses méthodes et réalisations. Longtemps cantonnée au domaine des sciences et techniques de l’ingénieur, avec un focus marqué sur les problématiques de normalisation, elle est aujourd'hui une interdiscipline à la croisée des sciences du langage, des sciences de l’information et de la communication, de sciences cognitives ou encore de l’Intelligence Artificielle. Socioterminologie, ethnoterminologie, ontoterminologie, terminologie pragmatique, diachronique, cognitive, d’entreprise, terminologie et diffusion de la science, terminologie et impact sociétal de la recherche, etc… autant de dénominations et/ou d’approches multiples montrant combien les termes et les terminologies sont aujourd’hui explorés comme "porte d’entrée" vers les domaines, l’internationalisation, les filières professionnelles, le marketing, etc. La collection Terminologies plurielles se veut ainsi un forum d’échanges scientifiques ouvert à cette pluralité d’approches et a vocation à accueillir des monographies (issues ou non de thèses de doctorat ou d’habilitation) ou des volumes collectifs (y compris des publications nées de colloques à la condition sine qua non d’avoir fait l’objet d’un travail éditorial approfondi garantissant une cohérence à l’ensemble). Fortement attachée au plurilinguisme de la recherche et des publications scientifiques, elle ne se limite pas à l’anglais, mais accueille au contraire aussi des manuscrits en allemand, espagnol, français, italien ou encore portuguais. En las tres últimas décadas, la investigación terminológica ha experimentado una diversificación sin precedentes, tanto en lo que se refiere a sus temas como a sus métodos y resultados. Confinada durante mucho tiempo al ámbito de las ciencias y técnicas de la ingeniería, con una marcada orientación hacia las cuestiones de normalización, se ha convertido en un campo interdisciplinar en la encrucijada de las ciencias del lenguaje, las ciencias de la información y la comunicación, las ciencias cognitivas y la Inteligencia Artificial. Socioterminología, etnoterminología, ontoterminología, terminología pragmática, terminología diacrónica, terminología cognitiva, terminología empresarial, terminología y divulgación científica, terminología e impacto social de la investigación, etc., son algunas de las muchas denominaciones y/o enfoques que muestran hasta qué punto se exploran hoy en día los términos y las terminologías como "puerta de entrada" a los dominios, la internacionalización, los ámbitos profesionales, el marketing, etc. La colección Terminologías plurales pretende ser un foro de intercambio científico abierto a esta pluralidad de enfoques y está destinada a acoger monografías (sean o no fruto de tesis doctorales o otras) o volúmenes colectivos (incluidas las publicaciones resultantes de congresos, siempre que hayan sido objeto de un trabajo editorial en profundidad que garantice la coherencia del conjunto). Fuertemente comprometida con el multilingüismo de la investigación y de las publicaciones científicas, no se limita al inglés, sino que también acoge manuscritos en alemán, español, francés, italiano y portugués.
