Modern French Identities

This series aims to publish monographs, editions or collections of papers based on recent research into modern French literature. It welcomes contributions from academics, researchers and writers worldwide and in British and Irish universities in particular. Modern French Identities focuses on the French and Francophone writing of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, whose formal experiments and revisions of genre have combined to create an entirely new set of literary forms, from the thematic autobiographies of Michel Leiris and Bernard Noël to the magic realism of French Caribbean writers. The idea that identities are constructed rather than found, and that the self is an area to explore rather than a given pretext, runs through much of modern French literature, from Proust, Gide, Apollinaire and Césaire to Barthes, Duras, Kristeva, Glissant, Germain and Roubaud. This series explores the turmoil in ideas and values expressed in the works of theorists like Lacan, Irigaray, Foucault, Fanon, Deleuze and Bourdieu and traces the impact of current theoretical approaches – such as gender and sexuality studies, de/coloniality, intersectionality, and ecocriticism – on the literary and cultural interpretation of the self. The series publishes studies of individual authors and artists, comparative studies, and interdisciplinary projects and welcomes research on autobiography, cinema, fiction, poetry and performance art and/or the intersections between them. Directeur : Jean-Marie VALENTIN, Sorbonne / Institut Universitaire de France Créée en 1984, cette collection, forte de 140 titres, diffuse des travaux issus de recherches conduites dans les départements d’études germaniques des universités françaises. L’arc chronologique va du XVIIIe siècle baroque à l’actualité la plus immédiate. Est privilégiée l’étude des textes et des modes d’écriture dont il s’agit de mettre en valeur le potentiel d’innovation. La pluralité des méthodes mises en œuvre vise à rendre compte de l’apport des textes considérés aux différents genres et discours selon aussi le contexte d’histoire littéraire ou des idées dans lequel ces productions s’inscrivent. Une place particulière est faite aux enquêtes sur le théâtre depuis le XVIIIe siècle, abordé également du point de vue de la performance, ainsi qu’aux relations littéraires et culturelles (parallèles, transferts, réception) entre la France et le monde germanique. Si, en ce début de XXIe siècle, la théorie de la littérature a renoncé aux prétentions scientistes qu’avait fait naitre l’essor du structuralisme, elle n’a sans doute jamais été aussi indispensable. Sur fond de modifications des conceptions du sujet et de son rapport au monde, d’évolution de ses relations avec les autres médias comme avec les autres arts, la pratique littéraire, en pleine mutation, mérite aujourd’hui un examen scrupuleux et renouvelé. Il en va non seulement de la question de sa définition, mais aussi de celle de son pouvoir. C’est à cette exigence théorique que se consacre la collection « ThéoCrit’ ». Comme son titre l’indique, celle-ci accueille aussi bien des travaux de recherche proprement théoriques que des études critiques, pour peu que celles-ci témoignent d’une suffisante rigueur heuristique. De plus, recherche et enseignement entretenant un dialogue nécessaire, des travaux menés en didactique des lettres y sont également publiés. Conçus sous la responsabilité scientifique des directeurs de collection et évalués par un comité de spécialistes des questions traitées, les volumes de ThéoCrit’ englobent des monographies, des recueils d’articles, des Actes de colloques, des synthèses ou des anthologies à destination de l’enseignement. Les langues de ces publications sont le français, l’anglais et l’espagnol.

Die Schriften zu Marketing und Handel werden herausgegeben von Prof. Dr. Martin Fassnacht. In ihr sind und werden insbesondere die am Lehrstuhl für Marketing und Handel an der WHU - Otto Beisheim School of Management verfassten Dissertationen veröffentlicht. Generelles Anliegen von Dissertationen am Lehrstuhl von Prof. Dr. Martin Fassnacht ist es, wissenschaftlich fundiert, managementrelevante Fragestellungen zu behandeln. In jeder der Arbeiten der Schriftenreihe werden Handlungsempfehlungen für die Marketing- und Handelspraxis gegeben. Middle and Early Modern English Texts

This series is conceived to facilitate the edition of unpublished scientific treatises written in Late Middle English (late 13th century to the very early 16th century) as well as the publication of monographs dealing with their transmission, palaeographical and dialectal features, and/or their lexical, syntactic and pragmatic characteristics. The second aspect of the series seeks to favour studies specializing in linguistic variation or any of the multi-faceted aspects of the Middle English language even from a diachronic perspective. The Late Middle English Texts series is directed towards a wide scholarly readership that includes Textual Edition, Textual Criticism and Transmission – especially on electronic and digital formats both as standalone and online –, Ecdotics, History of Science, History of the English Language and Linguistics, Late Medieval Studies, History of Cultural Artifacts and Librarianship. The chronological scope we contemplate will range approximately from the mid 1200's to the early 1500's, and will include both manuscripts, incunabula and early prints that have come down to us in English, with the occasional excursion into analogues in other languages. Editions will include codicological and language studies that will enhance the relevance of the text within the cultural transmission European framework. The series includes both scholarly and academic editions and monograph studies with a specialised and comprehensive focus. Thematic and teaching textual anthologies will also be considered for the series. We do not aim primarily at publishing collected papers from conferences, symposia, meetings and other scholarly reunions, unless the occasion had a very relevant topic and was strongly coherent and specialised in its discussions. Each publication is subject to a rigorous blind double peer-review system that involves at least five readers from five different institutions (Universities or Research Institutes).

Die Buchreihe „Deutsches, europäisches und internationales Strafrecht und Strafprozessrecht“ soll Studien zum Strafrecht und Strafprozessrecht aufnehmen, die an der Universität zu Köln entstanden sind. Hierbei soll insbesondere das sogenannte „Nebenstrafrecht“ im Fokus stehen. Hierzu zählen vor allem das Wirtschafts- und Steuerstrafrecht, aber z.B. auch das Medizin-, Ausländer- und Verkehrsstrafrecht. Diese komplexen Rechtsgebiete haben große praktische Bedeutung und sind häufig durch europäische und internationale Vorgaben geprägt.

In der Reihe “Sprache im Kontext“ erscheinen Monographien und einschlägige Sammelwerke zur Linguistik. Es werden Forschungsergebnisse der Soziolinguistik, Psycholinguistik und Textlinguistik präsentiert. Mit Veröffentlichungen unter anderem zu den Bereichen Sprache und Politik, Vorurteilsforschung und Diskriminierung, Genderforschung, Mehrsprachigkeit und Fremd- und Fachsprachendidaktik bietet die Reihe ein breites Spektrum angewandt-sprachwissenschaftlicher Themen. Rethinking Education

Rethinking education has never been more important. While there are many examples of good, innovative practice in teaching and learning at all levels, the conventional education mindset has proved largely resistant to pedagogic or systemic change, remaining preoccupied with the delivery of standardised packages in a standardised fashion, relatively unresponsive to the diversity of learners’ experiences and inclinations as well as to the personal perspectives of individual teachers. The challenge of our times in relation to education is to help transform that mindset. This series takes up this challenge. It re-examines perennial major issues in education and opens up new ones. It includes, but is not confined to, pedagogies for transforming the learning experience, any-time-any-place learning, new collaborative technologies, fresh understandings of the roles of teachers, schools and other educational institutions, providing for different learning styles and for students with special needs, and adapting to changing needs in a changing environment.

Studies in the History of Healthcare

Studies in the History of Healthcare provides an outlet for academic monographs (sole- or multi-authored) devoted to both the social and the intellectual dimensions of the history of medicine, with a special emphasis on public health, health care and health services. The focus of the series is on the nineteenth and/or twentieth centuries, and is international in scope. The series encourages investigations into public health including environmental health, preventive medicine, responses to lifestyle diseases, and maternal and child health. It also embraces studies of health policy, health systems and state medicine, including in colonial and postcolonial settings. While studies may focus on general medicine, they would also give appropriate weight to healthcare as it relates to sectors such as indigenous peoples, older people, mentally ill and/or other vulnerable social groups. Unless they are placed in a broad context and address significant historical questions the series does not include biographies or histories of individual institutions and organisations. The monographs included in this series reflect the cutting edge of research in the now well-established and still expanding field of medical history. Studies in the History of Healthcare is a successor to Studies in the History of Medicine, formerly edited by Charles Webster.

For several decades now, our attention has been drawn to expanding agricultural output and the proliferation of powerful food companies. At the same time, in the process of European integration, the adoption of the Codex Alimentarius (1963), the Food Law (2002), and the recognition of PGIs for many products have contributed to the creation of a common European "food space". Today, these systems of supply and distribution have between them given Europeans quite varied dietary possibilities. This situation stems from various developments, linking the economic to the technical and amounting to a long-term trend. Cultural issues bear upon this, whether culinary transmission from generation to generation or the increasingly diverse catering sector, and political decisions also contribute through the establishment of standards and regulations. Hence, traditions and ruptures, innovations and continuities are permanently unsettling the European diet. Using original sources, doctoral theses, conference papers, monographs and testimonies, this series examines historical developments at the national scale and also, more generally, in a transnational perspective. The series hopes to make a significant contribution to understanding the processes of food innovation, which are powerful factors of difference and identity in contemporary Europe. All volumes in this series passed a selection process that included double blind peer-review. Le développement des rendements agricoles et la croissance de puissantes industries agroalimentaires ont focalisé l’attention depuis plusieurs décennies. Dans le processus de construction européenne, l’adoption du Codex alimentarius (1963), la Food law (2002) et la reconnaissance des IGP sur de nombreux produits contribuent désormais à unifier un espace alimentaire communautaire. Les Européens disposent de moyens d’approvisionnement et de distribution variés pour constituer leur alimentation. Cette situation procède d’évolutions plurielles, liant l’économique et le technique, et s’inscrit en fait dans la longue durée. Des enjeux culturels y sont associés, qu’il s’agisse de transmissions culinaires générationnelles ou de l’offre de restauration très diversifiée. Des choix politiques y contribuent également, par la mise en place de normalisations et de règlements. Traditions et ruptures, nouveautés et continuités bouleversent en permanence l’alimentation des Européens. Par des recueils de sources, des thèses, des actes de colloques, des monographies érudites et des témoignages, cette collection interroge les évolutions historiques et sociétales, par pays ou plus globalement dans une perspective transnationale. Elle souhaite apporter une connaissance sur des processus d’innovations alimentaires qui constituent de puissants facteurs de différences et d’identités mêlées de l’Europe contemporaine. Tous les volumes de cette collection sont publiés après double révision à l'aveugle par des pairs.

American Culture is a series of publications specializing in literary and cultural studies. We welcome publications on literature, literary and cultural theory, history, theater, film and the arts. On the board of editors are members of the English/American language and history departments at the universities of Hamburg and Berlin (FU and HU). Die Reihe "Bielefelder Rechtsstudien" veröffentlicht Forschungsergebnisse aus dem Fachbereich der Rechtswissenschaft mit den Schwerpunkten Gesetzgebungswissenschaft, Rechtstatsachenforschung und Rechtspolitik. Die Monographien der Reihe umfassen Themen des Bürgerlichen Rechts und des Strafrechts. Die Arbeiten beschränken sich nicht ausschließlich auf den deutschen Rechtsraum, sondern gehen zum Teil auch auf Europäisches und Internationales Recht ein.

Sammlung/Collection Variations

In der neu gegründeten Reihe Sammlung/Collection Variations werden in erster Linie Beiträge zu Kolloquien, Symposien und Studientagen aus dem Bereich der Literaturwissenschaften veröffentlicht, die in Beziehung zur Universität Zürich stehen. Die Sammlung dient dem Ziel, dem interessierten Publikum einen aktuellen Querschnitt aus einer bestimmten Disziplin oder einem Themengebiet zu ermöglichen. Sie ist somit zugleich als Ergänzung und Erweiterung der jeweils einmal jährlich erscheinenden Literaturzeitschrift Variations gedacht.

Kieler Werkstücke

Die «Kieler Werkstücke, Reihe B» befassen sich mit Beiträgen zur nordischen und baltischen Geschichte. Herausgegeben wird die Reihe von Professor Martin Krieger. Seit ihrem ersten Erscheinen 1996 umfasst die Reihe schwerpunktmäßig Studien zur Frühen Neuzeit sowie zur Neueren und Neuesten Geschichte der nordischen und baltischen Staaten im europäischen Zusammenhang.
