Restoration Drama

This series attempts to illustrate the richness and diversity of Restoration drama, a thriving theatrical production which has been long overshadowed by the brilliance of the Age of Shakespeare. The aim of the collection is to bring to light dramatic texts that have not attracted much critical attention but display the most popular generic formulas of the time and introduce a wide array of suggestive topics. The series consists of modern spelling, fully annotated editions, complete with textual commentary, glosses, as well as historical, cultural and literary references. Each of the volumes includes a critical introduction which places the text in context, discussing aspects such as authorship, the play’s response to the historical circumstances of the time, its use of theatrical conventions and stage history.

Paratraducción, Interlinguas y Transmedia

Desde el cambio de paradigma que supone la noción teórica de paratraducción, creada por el Grupo de investigación Traducción & Paratraducción (T&P) de la Universidade de Vigo (España), la colección Paratraducción, Interlinguas y Transmedia (ParatradIT), dirigida por José Yuste Frías y Óscar Ferreiro Vázquez, invita a reflexionar de manera transdisciplinar sobre la transtextualidad, en general, y la paratextualidad, muy en particular, en los procesos transmediales de la comunicación internacional entre diferentes lenguas (interlinguas) y culturas. Los principales objetos de estudio de ParatradIT son los soportes materiales transmediáticos, los procesos, los modos, las técnicas, las estrategias, las instituciones, las herramientas tecnológicas, las inteligencias artificiales y los seres humanos que hacen posible las transferencias lingüísticas y culturales tanto en pantalla como en papel. ParatradIT acoge publicaciones temáticas centradas no sólo sobre el área de traducción e interpretación, sino también sobre áreas afines como, por ejemplo, la didáctica de lenguas extranjeras y pedagogía de segundas lenguas en la mediación entre culturas. ParatradIT es una colección siempre abierta a los cambios teóricos, didácticos y profesionales que pueden surgir en los diferentes sectores estratégicos de la traducción, como, por poner tan sólo un ejemplo, el sector de la industria del videojuego donde nuevas formas paratextuales ayudan a crear nuevas narrativas transmedia ludográficas en pantalla que suponen nuevos retos de transcreación en la localización de videojuegos. Since the paradigm shift represented by the theoretical notion of paratranslation, created by the Research Group Traducción & Paratraducción (T&P) (T&P), from the University of Vigo (Spain), the series Paratraducción, Interlinguas y Transmedia (ParatradIT), edited by José Yuste Frías and Óscar Ferreiro Vázquez, invites interdisciplinary reflection on paratextuality for international communication among different languages (interlinguas) and cultures. The main objects of study of the series are the materials, processes, modes, techniques, strategies, institutions, technological tools, artificial intelligences, and humans that enable linguistic and cultural transfers, both on screen and on paper. ParatradIT hosts themed publications not only in the field of translation and interpretation, but also in related fields such as foreign language teaching and second language pedagogy in cross-cultural mediation. The series ParatradIT is always open to changes in different strategic sectors of translation, such as the video game industry, where new paratextual forms help create different ludographic transmedia narratives on screen, posing new challenges in the transcreation of video game localization, in particular, and audiovisual translation, in general. Die Buchreihe Historia y contacto en textos indorrománicos widmet sich linguistischen Untersuchungen zu hispano- und lusoamerikanischen Sprachgemeinschaften, in denen sich im Laufe der Zeit klar idiosynkratische Merkmale herausgebildet haben. Das Ziel der Reihe besteht sowohl darin die verschiedenen aktuellen Sprachsituationen in diesen Kommunikationsräumen als auch die verschiedenen Stadien der Herausbildung und Entwicklung der amerikanischen Sprachgemeinschaften zu beschreiben und zu analysieren. Die Beschreibung und Analyse basieren auf der Arbeit mit direkten und metasprachlichen Quellen sowie deren notwendiger soziohistorischer und kultureller Kontextualisierung. The aim of the series Worlds of East Asia of the Swiss Asia Society is to publish high-quality, representative work issuing from academic research on all aspects of East Asia. It comprises, and receives, studies on present-day and historical East Asian cultures and societies covering the fields of art, literature and thought as well as translations and interpretations of important sources. Furthermore the series intends to present studies that offer expert knowledge on relevant themes and current questions appealing not only to the academic public, but also to an audience generally interested in East Asia. One important goal of the series is to establish a forum for academic work in the fields of the humanities and social sciences in Switzerland. However, the series is also committed to the rich variety of studies and writing on East Asia in the international research community. The main publication languages for studies, collections (by individual or several contributors), and surveys are therefore German, French, and English. The series is supervised and internally reviewed by an editorial board comprising leading representatives in East Asian studies. La série Mondes de l’Extrême-Orient de la Société Suisse-Asie publie des recherches de qualité représentatives de la recherche académique sur les cultures et sociétés de l’Asie orientale. Elle propose des études dans des domaines variés comme l’art, la littérature, et la pensée, anciens ou modernes, ainsi que des traductions et interprétations de sources. Elle publie également des travaux qui traitent de questions plus actuelles ou immédiates, de façon compétente mais abordable, avec le souhait de toucher, au-delà des cercles académiques, le grand public cultivé. L’un des buts de la série est de servir de forum pour les sciences humaines et sociales dans le domaine des études asiatique en Suisse. Les travaux de la communauté scientifique internationale sont cependant les bienvenus. Die Reihe Welten Ostasiens der Schweizerischen Asiengesellschaft stellt repräsentative Arbeiten aus der facettenreichen akademischen Forschung vor. Sie nimmt Studien zu den ostasiatischen Kulturen und Gesellschaften in Gegenwart und Vergangenheit in den Bereichen Kunst, Literatur und Denken sowie Übersetzungen und Interpretationen von Quellentexten auf. Sie will aber auch Arbeiten anbieten, die in allgemein verständlicher Weise kompetentes Wissen zu relevanten und aktuellen Fragen vermitteln und neben dem wissenschaftlichen Zielpublikum auch einer breiter interessierten Leserschaft zugänglich sind. In erster Linie ist sie ein Forum für geistes- und sozialwissenschaftliche Arbeiten aus der Schweiz, daneben werden aber auch Beiträge aus der internationalen Forschung aufgenommen.
