Revisioning Philosophy

This series seeks innovative and explorative thought in the foundation, aim, and objectives of philosophy. Preference will be given to approaches to world philosophy and to the repositioning of traditional viewpoints. New understandings of knowledge and being in the history of philosophy will be considered. Works may take the form of monographs, collected essays, and translations which demonstrate the imaginative flair of examining foundational questions.

Ouverte aux penseurs de tous pays et de toutes cultures qui ne se contentent pas d’analyser le fonctionnement des institutions sociales mais s’interrogent sur leur sens et leur but, cette collection se propose de contribuer au renouveau de la philosophie politique. Par delà les diverses disciplines des sciences sociales, les engagements idéologiques et les préjugés des « écoles nationales », la philosophie se doit de poursuivre une recherche aussi universelle que possible du sens et de la sagesse de la vie humaine dans un monde entraîné chaotiquement vers son unité.

The series “Practical Philosophy controversial” publishes studies from the disciplines of political philosophy, theoretical ethics, and applied ethics. It is a philosophical forum which seeks to make a contribution to contemporary controversies and debates surrounding societal challenges. Books are invited to explore the problematic tensions in ethical decision-making and acting in the context of new possibilities opening up in the wake of developments especially resulting from the intertwinement of medicine, technology, and biology, and the global context of responsibility. La collection « Philosophie pratique en controverse » propose des études de philosophie politique, de théorie éthique et d'éthique appliquée. Les controverses en question résultent de situations critiques de décision et d'action notamment par rapport à certaines possibilités médicales, technologiques et biologiques et dans le contexte de rapports globaux de responsabilité. Studies in Philosophy of Language and Linguistics

The series brings together contemporary research within the fields of philosophy of language and linguistics. The range of topics includes philosophical and formal investigations into the nature of language, the influence of philosophy (especially, but not exclusively, analytic) upon linguistics and the philosophical background of semantic and pragmatic theories. Other topics of interest include the influence of modern linguistic research upon philosophy, issues in linguistic methodology, linguistic and philosophical aspects of argumentation, and the interrelations between philosophy of language, philosophy of literature, and philosophy of mind. Volumes in the series should be of interest to philosophers, linguists, and researchers within the fields of logic, argumentation theory, cognitive science and communication studies. The series Studies in Philosophy of Language and Linguistics will publish quality monographs and thematic collective volumes by scholars from Poland and abroad.
