Studi Pergolesiani / Pergolesi Studies

Studi Pergolesiani / Pergolesi Studies is a series founded and conceived by Francesco Degrada. The first issue (1986), were the proceedings of the first conference on Giovanni Battista Pergolesi held in Jesi in 1983. Other conference proceedings followed, all with studies on Pergolesi, until the sixth issue was published in 2011. The series, now published by Peter Lang, continues under the aegis of the Fondazione Pergolesi Spontini of Jesi, which promotes studies, editions and modern performances of music by Pergolesi. Neo-Latin Studies / Neulateinische Studien

The Neo-Latin literature is an important factor uniting Europe as a cultural entity. It is impossible to comprehend European culture as a coherent homogenous whole without an enquiry into this literature. European culture perceived as the sum of national literatures emerges to us as incomplete and distorted as a figure reflected in a broken mirror. The series œNeo-Latin Studies shall include books concerning all aspects of Neo-Latin writing. It is our intention to pay a special attention to Central European writing of the 16th, 17th, 18th centuries and more broadly the issues of the Northern Renaissance. Books “ both collections of studies by various authors (such as its forerunner Pietas Humanistica, 2006) and individual monographs “ will be published both in English and German. This is a series of monographs designed to provide access to research at the cutting-edge of current Patristic Studies. Particular attention will be given to the development of Christian theology during the first five centuries of the Church and to the different types of Biblical interpretation which the Fathers used. Each study will engage with modern discussion of the theme being treated, but will also break new ground in original textual research. In exceptional cases, a volume may consist of the critical edition of a text, with notes and references, as well as a translation. Revised doctoral dissertations may also be published, though the main focus of the series will be on more mature research and reflection. CGL-Studies

Die CGL-Studies versammeln Forschungsergebnisse zur Geschichte der Landschaftsarchitektur und Gartenkunst sowie zu Fragen der modernen Landschaftsarchitektur. Im Spannungsfeld von Geschichtsforschung einerseits und zeitgenössischer Praxis andererseits werden neue Ansätze und Methoden entwickelt und erörtert. Dabei richtet sich der Blick auf die zeitgenössische Landschaftsarchitektur sowie die Geschichte von Gartenkunst und Gartendenkmalpflege. In diesem Kontext wird den Interferenzen zwischen Landschaftsarchitektur, Städtebau und Architektur ein besonderes Interesse zuteil. Die ersten Bände, Ergebnisse zweier durch die Klosterkammer Hannover geförderter Promotionsstipendien, behandeln die Gartenkultur der norddeutschen Frauenklöster und Damenstifte sowie den Transfer gartenkulturellen Wissens von China in die europäische Gartenkunst. In einem weiteren Band werden die Ergebnisse des Workshops «Naturschutz und Demokratie» veröffentlicht, der vom Bundesminister für Umwelt, Naturschutz und Reaktorsicherheit gefördert wurde. Folgepublikationen sind derzeit geplant zu modernen Formen der Landschaftswahrnehmung und ihrer Bedeutung für die Landschaftsarchitektur sowie zum Thema «Gärten und Parks im Leben der jüdischen Bevölkerung nach 1933».

Exile Studies

Exile Studies is a series of monographs and edited collections that takes a broad view of exile, including the life and work of refugees from National Socialism, and beyond. The series explores the different global and cultural spaces of exile and refuge as well as the specific historical, political and social concerns of exile writers and artists. The series engages with recent theoretical approaches to exile to shed new light on the unique conditions of mass flight from National Socialist persecution, with a particular interest in the work of Jewish refugees of the period. A plurality of theoretical approaches is encouraged, featuring research that reaches beyond national frameworks or disciplinary boundaries and takes multi-directional, transcultural or comparative approaches. The series aims to make connections to studies on more recent groups of refugees and to contribute to current debates. Themes include persecution,　exclusion and delocalization, legacies of displacement, loss and acculturation as well as the creation of new homes and networks. The series promotes dialogue among transnational, Jewish and memory studies, and among diaspora, Holocaust and postcolonial studies. It invites research that acknowledges questions of gender, race, class, religion and ethnicity as indispensable tools for understanding the cultural processes connected to the lives and works of refugees and exiles.

This series is intended to promote a deeper understanding of the root causes of and potential solutions to the global issues related to terrorism. The series welcomes publications of scholars who specialize in social and political philosophy, ethics, religious studies, political theory and political science. Those scholars with other disciplinary expertise are welcome to submit proposals as well. Contributions to the series may deal with particular, narrow-range problems and/or synthetic, interdisciplinary issues related to the issue of terrorism. Likewise, the publications may refer to both systematic problems and more practical considerations. Especially welcome are scholarly works that deal with the subject of terrorism in new and innovative ways. This series focuses on the islands of the North Atlantic archipelago and on the water that surrounds those islands from pre-history through to the eighteenth century. Moving beyond traditional national histories, the series will highlight research that examines localities or regions bounded by geography and transnational studies of the insular world, and connections between peoples and societies within the archipelago and their neighbours to the south (Brittany) and the north (Norway and beyond). The Series «　Borders and European Integration　» fills in a gap in Social Sciences, as it connects two so far independent research strands: European Studies and Border Studies. Mainly initiated by geographers and originally hosted in the United States, Border Studies primarily deal with the study of borders and borderlands, whereas European Studies analyse the process of European Integration, its actors, institutions and policy fields. Although the idea of a Europe without borders was part of the project of the European Economic Community, the multidimensional role of the border has not been sufficiently taken into account by researchers in European Studies. Inversely, Border Studies have only rarely examined the specificity of borders and borderlands in Europe in comparison to other regions in the world. At the crossroads between Area Studies and International Relations, this Series therefore offers a pluri-disciplinary approach to borders and their role in the European construction. Taking into account the perspective of different disciplines in Social Sciences, the diversity of actors of European Integration and borderlands (local, regional, national,) it allows a new multi-level and decentred view on conflicts and cooperation at European borders. The Series addresses researchers and university scholars of all disciplines in Social Sciences and wishes to tackle the challenging contemporary questions on borders in Europe. La collection «　Frontières et intégration européenne　» répond au besoin de lier deux champs disciplinaires jusque-là peu connectés　: celui des études européennes et celui des Border Studies. Fortement impulsés par les géographes et implantés au départ aux Etats-Unis, les Border Studies s’intéressent surtout à l’étude de la frontière et aux espaces de voisinage alors que les études européennes se penchent sur l’analyse du processus d’intégration européenne, ses acteurs, ses institutions et ses politiques. Alors que l’idée de l’Europe sans frontières fait partie du projet de la Communauté économique européenne, le rôle multidimensionnel de la frontière n’a pas été suffisamment pris en compte par les chercheurs en Etudes européennes. De leur côté, les Border Studies n’ont que peu abordé la spécificité des frontières de l’Europe et de ses espaces de voisinage par rapport à d’autres régions dans le monde. Au croisement des Area Studies et des Relations Internationales, la collection propose donc une approche pluridisciplinaire des frontières et de leur rôle dans la construction européenne. En tenant compte du regard différentes disciplines en Sciences humaines, de la diversité des acteurs de la construction européenne et des territoires frontaliers (locaux, régionaux, nationaux ) en Europe, elle permet ainsi d’avoir une nouvelle approche multi-niveaux et décentralisée des conflits et coopérations aux frontières européennes. La collection s’adresse aux universitaires et chercheurs de toute discipline en Sciences humaines souhaitant interroger les grandes thématiques des frontières en Europe. Die Reihe «　Grenzen und Europäische Integration　» schließt eine Lücke in den Geisteswissenschaften, indem sie zwei bisher unabhängige Forschungsstränge miteinander verknüpft: die Europawissenschaften und die Border Studies. Die im Wesentlichen von den Geographen angestossenen und ursprünglich in den USA angesiedelten Border Studies interessieren sich vor allem für die Erforschung von Grenzen und Grenzgebieten, bzw. Nachbarschaftsräumen, während die Europawissenschaften sich der Analyse des Europäischen Integrationsprozesses, dessen Akteure, Institutionen und Politikfelder widmen. Obwohl die Idee eines Europa ohne Grenzen auch Teil des Projektes der Europäischen Wirtschaftsgemeinschaft war, wurde die multidimensionale Rolle der Grenze nicht immer ausreichend von den Europawissenschaftlern berücksichtigt. Anderseits haben die Border Studies nur wenig die Spezifizität der Grenzen und Grenzräume Europas im Vergleich zu anderen Regionen in der Welt erforscht. Am Wegkreuz zwischen den Area Studies und den Internationalen Beziehungen bietet die Reihe daher einen pluri-disziplinaren Ansatz zu Grenzen und ihrer Rolle in der Europäischen Konstruktion. Durch die Berücksichtigung der Perspektive verschiedener Disziplinen aus den Geisteswissenschaften, der Diversität der Akteure der Europäischen Integration und der Grenzräume (lokale, regionale, nationale) ermöglicht sie eine neue multi-level und dezentralisierte Betrachtungsweise der Konflikte und Kooperationen an europäischen Grenzen. Die Reihe wendet sich an Forscher und Universitätsdozenten aus allen Disziplinen der Geisteswissenschaften und möchte die großen thematischen Fragestellungen zu Grenzen in Europa erschließen.
