This series aims to promote specialist language studies, both in the fields of linguistic theory and applied linguistics, by publishing volumes that focus on specific aspects of language use in one or several languages and provide valuable insights into language and communication research. A cross-disciplinary approach is favoured and most European languages are accepted. The series includes two types of books: Monographs – featuring in-depth studies on special aspects of language theory, language analysis or language teaching. Collected papers – assembling papers from workshops, conferences or symposia. Each volume of the series is subjected to a double peer-reviewing process. Kontrastive Linguistik / Linguistica contrastiva

Ziel der Reihe ist es, Monographien und Sammelbände zur kontrastiven Sprachwissenschaft unter einem Dach zu vereinen. Im Bereich der Monographien ist dabei sowohl an Überblicksdarstellungen und Detailstudien als auch an Qualifikationsschriften (ab Dissertation bzw. tesi di dottorato) zu denken. Die Themen können aus den Bereichen Lexikologie und Semantik, Lexikographie, Phonologie, Grammatik, Pragmalinguistik, Textlinguistik, Diskursanalyse und Übersetzungswissenschaft stammen. Sie sollen methodisch und theoretisch und/oder empirisch sprachvergleichend ausgerichtet sein. Bei den zu untersuchenden Sprachen muss entweder Deutsch oder Italienisch eine der Vergleichsbasen sein. Arbeiten zu Deutsch und Italienisch sind ebenfalls sehr willkommen. Weitere Vergleichssprachen sind andere romanische Sprachen und das Englische. Die Anzahl der beteiligten Sprachen ist dabei nicht auf zwei begrenzt. La collana ospita pubblicazioni monografiche e miscellanee dedicate alla linguistica contrastiva. Come monografie possono essere pubblicati compendi e manuali di linguistica contrastiva, studi su temi specifici, tesi di dottorato (Dissertation) e di Habilitation. Gli ambiti tematici previsti sono: lessicologia e semantica, lessicografia, fonologia, grammatica, linguistica pragmatica, testuale e conversazionale, traduttologia. Le ricerche devono essere riconducibili a approcci metodologici, teorici ed empirici di stampo contrastivo. Lingue di contrasto potranno essere il tedesco o l’italiano. Altre lingue oggetto di studio su base contrastiva possono essere le lingue romanze e l’inglese. Altrettanto graditi saranno studi su italiano e tedesco e ricerche che tengano conto di più lingue. The series Linguistica Philologica aims to foster dialogue across boundaries among the different fields and paradigms of linguistics in a broad philological and historical context. The edited volumes, monographs, and congress proceedings cover the linguistics of the entire spectrum of languages, focusing on describing and explaining languages as systems, the oral and written use of language, and language variation, its precipitating factors and outcomes. The double-blind peer-reviewed volumes are published in English, French, Spanish, German, and Russian. Die Publikationsreihe Linguistica Philologica will den Dialog über die Grenzen der unterschiedlichen Bereiche und Paradigmen der Sprachwissenschaft hinweg in einem breiten philologischen und historischen Kontext fördern. Die Sammelbände, Monographien und Kongressdokumentationen beziehen sich auf das gesamte Spektrum der linguistischen Philologien, mit Fokus auf die Beschreibung und Erklärung von sprachlichen Systemen, den mündlichen und schriftlichen Gebrauch der Sprachen sowie die sprachliche Variation, deren auslösende Faktoren und Ergebnisse. At a time when German Studies faces a serious challenge to its identity and position in the European and international context, this new series aims to reflect the increasing importance of both culture (in the widest sense) and linguistics to the study of German in Britain and Ireland. GLCS will publish monographs and collections of essays of a high scholarly standard which deal with German in its socio-cultural context, in multilingual and multicultural settings, in its European and international context and with its use in the media. The series will also explore the impact on German society of particular ideas, movements and economic trends and will discuss curriculum provision and development in universities in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland. Contributions in English or German will be welcome. "Die Publikationsreihe Potsdamer Linguistische Untersuchungen bietet ein Forum für die Bereiche der Linguistik, Germanistik, Anglistik, Romanistik, Slavistik und Baltistik sowie der Balkanistik. Die Monographien, Tagungs- und Sammelbände der Reihe widmen sich dabei dem gesamten linguistischen Spektrum, mit Schwerpunkten auf Syntax, Semantik, Pragmatik und Sprachphilosophie. Die Bände erscheinen in deutscher und englischer Sprache. Die Qualität der in dieser Reihe erscheinenden Arbeiten wird vor der Publikation durch einen externen, von der Herausgeberschaft benannten Gutachter im Double Blind Verfahren geprüft. English Corpus Linguistics

English Corpus Linguistics comprises studies that use a corpus-based methodology for the linguistic analysis of English-language real-world texts. The corpus methodology permits both synchronic and diachronic research. The outcomes may be primary linguistics research, or studies utilising concordancing tools to advance lexicographic, morphological or syntactic analyses. The series additionally supports academic study of the corpus methodology and the implementation of corpora in language teaching.

The volumes will provide a forum for research and discussion of the many related developments between the disciplines of linguistics and philosophy, featuring their respective contributions to the understanding of natural language.

Studies in Historical Linguistics

Studies in Historical Linguistics brings together work which utilises the comparative method of language study. Topics include the examination of language change over time, the genetic classification of language, lexicography, dialectology and etymology. Pronunciation, lexis, morphology and syntax are examined within the framework of historical linguistics. Both synchronic and diachronic approaches are used so that language is examined both at one time and across time. Historical Linguistics is still a young area of academic study, but it has its foundations in one of the oldest - philology. This series recognises both the seminal importance of philology, and the recent development through the conceptual framework provided by linguistic science. Studies in Historical Linguistics is based at the Department of Media, Culture and Languages at the University of Roehampton.

Catalan Studies in Culture and Linguistics Edited by Antonio Cortijo Ocaña The book series Catalan Studies in Culture and Linguistics offers an interdisciplinary approach to the analysis of the culture and language of the Catalan-speaking world. The aim of the collection is to foster the study and interpretation of Catalan culture from a historical, literary, social, and linguistic perspective within a larger European, Iberian, and Mediterranean context as well as within a later Trans-Atlantic and global mileux. Contemporary Studies in Descriptive Linguistics

This series provides an outlet for academic monographs which offer a recent and original contribution to linguistics and which are within the descriptive tradition. While the monographs demonstrate their debt to contemporary linguistic thought, the series does not impose limitations in terms of methodology or genre, and does not support a particular linguistic school. Rather the series welcomes new and innovative research that contributes to furthering the understanding of the description of language. The topics of the monographs are scholarly and represent the cutting edge for their particular fields, but are also accessible to researchers outside the specific disciplines. Contemporary Studies in Descriptive Linguistics is based at the School of English, University of St Andrews. The Literary and Cultural Stylistics subseries aims to explore the intersection of descriptive linguistics with the disciplines of literature and culture. The techniques of stylistic analysis offer a way of approaching texts both literary and non-literary as well as all forms of cultural communication. The subseries offers a home for this research, where literary criticism meets linguistics and where cultural studies meets communication. It welcomes a wide range of data sets and methodologies, with the intention that every book in the subseries makes a new contribution to the disciplines that support them.

This series provides an outlet for academic monographs and edited volumes that offer a contemporary and original contribution to applied linguistics. Applied linguistics is understood in a broad sense, to encompass language pedagogy and second-language learning, discourse analysis, bi- and multilingualism, language policy and planning, language use in the internet age, lexicography, professional and organisational communication, literacies, forensic linguistics, pragmatics, and other fields associated with solving real-life language and communication problems. The series Posener Beiträge zur Angewandten Linguistik was established in 2011 by Prof. Waldemar Pfeiffer and, until 2018, has been co-edited by Prof. Waldemar Pfeiffer and Prof. Camilla Badstübner-Kizik. From 2019 on, Prof. Maciej Karpiński is co-editing the series under the new title Poznan Studies in Applied Linguistics / Posener Beiträge zur Angewandten Linguistik. The series has been established in order to disseminate research by publishing monographs and edited collections of texts from the broad field of Applied Linguistics. The thematic range of books includes foreign language teaching, multilingualism, translation studies, linguistic aspects of culture, intercultural communication and mediation, multimodal communication, applications of spoken and written language resources and technology, application-oriented studies in psycholinguistics, sociolinguistics and pragmalinguistics. The series is intended to reflect and promote new trends in the applications of linguistic knowledge. We encourage contributions from young researchers and interdisciplinary studies, texts presenting new empirical research as well as new theoretical approaches. Die Reihe Posener Beiträge zur Angewandten Linguistik wurde 2011 von Prof. Waldemar Pfeiffer begründet und bis 2018 von ihm in Zusammenarbeit mit Prof. Camilla Badstübner-Kizik herausgegeben. Seit 2019 ist Prof. Maciej Karpiński als Mitherausgeber tätig, der Titel wurde erweitert in Poznań Studies in Applied Linguistics / Posener Beiträge zur Angewandten Linguistik. Until the publication of volume 42 the series was edited by prof. Jacek Fisiak (1936-2019). The Crossroads and Interfaces: Studies in Linguistics and Literature series presents monographs and collected volumes on Linguistics, Literature and Culture in the fields of English Language and Literatures as well as Linguistics. Topics include (among others) problems and methods of SLA (Second Language Acquisition), English-Polish contrastive linguistics, intertextuality, and studies on 19th-century literature and authors. The series was formerly known as Polish Studies in English Language and Literature.

The series Studies in Linguistics, Anglophone Literatures and Cultures focuses primarily on various aspects of both theoretical and applied linguistics. Based on a broad understanding of Anglophone literature and culture, it approaches its topics either synchronically or diachronically. In principle, its monographs and collections of articles are devoted to the English language, literatures and cultures of the English speaking countries. However, comparative or contrastive studies are also welcome. The editors, as well as numerous contributors to its volumes, are affiliated with the University of Rzeszów, but researchers representing other academic centres are by all means invited to contribute individual monographs, or collections of papers. The range of topics and theoretical approaches remains unlimited in the case of all three disciplines.

Textbooks in English Language and Linguistics (TELL) is an introductory series covering the core areas of English linguistics and its most important sub-disciplines. Written in English, the TELL volumes are 200–250 pages long and serve as excellent works of reference and course material at every stage of English study programmes and are ideal literature for students preparing for examinations. The content, made accessible by clear explanations and concrete examples, is rounded off with exercises and tips for further reading. Research methods pertinent to the subject area treated by each volume are also presented and discussed. This series has been terminated after vol. 6. They tend to be written on topics that would not be suitable for our more specific series within each discipline. Many of the titles have won national and international awards. Professor Hans-Jörg Schwenk (1959–2020) und Professor Janusz Golec haben die Reihe „Lubliner Beiträge zur Germanistik und Angewandten Linguistik” mitbegründet und bis zur Veröffentlichung des Bandes Nr. 14 mitherausgegeben. In der Reihe werden Arbeiten zur Literatur-, Kultur- und Sprachwissenschaft, sowie zur Fremdsprachendidaktik und angewandten Linguistik veröffentlicht. Die Schriftenreihe erscheint seit dem Jahr 2013 und präsentiert aktuelle Forschungsergebnisse in diesen Bereichen. Sie umfasst Monographien und Sammelbände über einzelne Autorinnen und Autoren, Gattungen und Themen aus dem Gebiet der deutschsprachigen Literatur- und Kulturgeschichte. Der Schwerpunkt linguistischer Reflexion in der Reihe liegt auf der eingehenden Erörterung applikativer Fragen, die in den Teilgebieten der Linguistik thematisiert werden. Die Reihe bietet auch Studien über die Relationen Sprache –Text – Diskurs an.
