Literary and Cultural Theory

The objective of the Literary and Cultural Theory series is to publish works, collections of articles, and conference proceedings which aim at transgressing boundaries of single disciplines and at creating common space within which themes and methodologies of those single disciplines merge and contribute to the production of a novel approach to culture, literature, and philosophy. Within thus conceived area of the humanities we place particular emphasis on: first, interdisciplinarity (both in terms of topics and methodology) and, secondly, on theoretical (or theorizing) approach, i.e., an approach which not only aims at describing cultural and literary phenomena, but also at revealing their mechanisms and multiple interrelationships, visible sometimes only when boundaries of disciplines are transgressed, and when areas of overlap are identified. Those priorities do not exclude publication of volumes within what has traditionally been considered the realm of literary studies, as long as the critical and theorizing attitude is maintained. German Linguistic and Cultural Studies

At a time when German Studies faces a serious challenge to its identity and position in the European and international context, this new series aims to reflect the increasing importance of both culture (in the widest sense) and linguistics to the study of German in Britain and Ireland. GLCS will publish monographs and collections of essays of a high scholarly standard which deal with German in its socio-cultural context, in multilingual and multicultural settings, in its European and international context and with its use in the media. The series will also explore the impact on German society of particular ideas, movements and economic trends and will discuss curriculum provision and development in universities in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland. Contributions in English or German will be welcome. This series is mainly focused on English literature produced in Britain and Europe between the 1750s and the 1830s. It aims to explore the key concepts regarding Romantic texts and aesthetics, such as the relationship between the writer and the natural world; context and history; sensibility and the sublime; gender roles; language and the power of the imagination; studies of genre; slavery and abolition; migration literature, consumer literature; social transformation; critical reception; and transnational relations. The series welcomes studies on major as well as less well-known authors and literary genres, and on historical and cultural contexts of the period. Within this framework, volumes included in this series will not only expand the canon beyond traditional authors and genres, but also provide opportunities for exploring texts and contexts from new perspectives, including those of gender, cultural and translation studies. The series includes monographs, collection of essays, conference proceedings, critical editions and translations, and aims to address an international community. The Crossroads and Interfaces: Studies in Linguistics and Literature series presents monographs and collected volumes on Linguistics, Literature and Culture in the fields of English Language and Literatures as well as Linguistics. Topics include (among others) problems and methods of SLA (Second Language Acquisition), English-Polish contrastive linguistics, intertextuality, and studies on 19th-century literature and authors. A Critical Introduction to Media and Communication Theory

The study of the media has led scholars to apply a humbling array of theories in their efforts to analyze messages, media systems, audiences and media themselves. One of the strengths of media studies has been its flexibility as it incorporates humanist and social scientific ideas in our work. This series is focused on theories, methods, schools of thought, domains of intellectual struggle, and individual thinkers whose importance to the study of the media can be reconfigured, reinvented, and refocused. Each of the specially commissioned books in the series shares a concern for the heritage of thought in the field of communication. These books provide sophisticated discussions of the relevance of particular theorists or theories, with an emphasis on reinventing communication and media studies, whether by incorporating ideas thought by some to be 'outside' the field, or by providing fresh analyses of ideas that have long been considered　central to media studies. Though theoretical in focus, the books are at all times concerned with the applicability of theory to empirical research and experience, and are designed to be accessible, yet critical, for students - undergraduates and postgraduates - and scholars.

Ziel der Reihe ist es, Monographien und Sammelbände zur kontrastiven Sprachwissenschaft unter einem Dach zu vereinen. Im Bereich der Monographien ist dabei sowohl an Überblicksdarstellungen und Detailstudien als auch an Qualifikationsschriften (ab Dissertation bzw. tesi di dottorato) zu denken. Die Themen können aus den Bereichen Lexikologie und Semantik, Lexikographie, Phonologie, Grammatik, Pragmalinguistik, Textlinguistik, Diskursanalyse und Übersetzungswissenschaft stammen. Sie sollen methodisch und theoretisch und/oder empirisch sprachvergleichend ausgerichtet sein. Bei den zu untersuchenden Sprachen muss entweder Deutsch oder Italienisch eine der Vergleichsbasen sein. Arbeiten zu Deutsch und Italienisch sind ebenfalls sehr willkommen. Weitere Vergleichssprachen sind andere romanische Sprachen und das Englische. Die Anzahl der beteiligten Sprachen ist dabei nicht auf zwei begrenzt. La collana ospita pubblicazioni monografiche e miscellanee dedicate alla linguistica contrastiva. Come monografie possono essere pubblicati compendi e manuali di linguistica contrastiva, studi su temi specifici, tesi di dottorato (Dissertation) e di Habilitation. Gli ambiti tematici previsti sono: lessicologia e semantica, lessicografia, fonologia, grammatica, linguistica pragmatica, testuale e conversazionale, traduttologia. Literary and Cultural Studies, Theory and the (New) Media provides a forum for discussions on a variety of topics in literary, cultural, and media studies. Open to comparatist approaches, the series main venue is in anglophone literature and media, with a special emphasis on narratological, postcolonial, film and media studies. Dedicated to promoting innovative and theoretically informed analyses, the series publishes monographs as well as edited volumes versed in media and literary theory. It also encourages explorations within, as well as dialogues between, narratological, postcolonial, feminist and queer approaches. Other theoretical approaches (stylistics, New Historicism, ecocriticism, etc.) are welcome as are works on literary and cultural theory. All volumes in the series are peer-reviewed. Monographs: Only complete manuscripts are accepted for review. Textbooks in English Language and Linguistics (TELL) is an introductory series covering the core areas of English linguistics and its most important sub-disciplines. The series Studies in Linguistics, Anglophone Literatures and Cultures focuses primarily on various aspects of both theoretical and applied linguistics. Based on a broad understanding of Anglophone literature and culture, it approaches its topics either synchronically or diachronically. In principle, its monographs and collections of articles are devoted to the English language, literatures and cultures of the English speaking countries. However, comparative or contrastive studies are also welcome. The editors, as well as numerous contributors to its volumes, are affiliated with the University of Rzeszów, but researchers representing other academic centres are by all means invited to contribute individual monographs, or collections of papers. The range of topics and theoretical approaches remains unlimited in the case of all three disciplines.

A BOOK SERIES FOR EQUITY SCHOLARS & ACTIVISTS Beth Powers-Costello, General Editor Globalization increasingly challenges higher education researchers, administrators, faculty members, and graduate students to address urgent and complex issues of equitable policy design and implementation. This book series provides an inclusive platform for discourse about – though not limited to – diversity, social justice, administrative accountability, faculty accreditation, student recruitment, admissions, curriculum, pedagogy, online teaching and learning, completion rates, program evaluation, cross-cultural relationship-building, and community leadership at all levels of society.
