La collection « Recherches en littérature et spiritualité », fondée en 2001 par Gérard Nauroy, est dirigée par le centre « Écritures » de l’Université de Lorraine (Metz). Elle rassemble les travaux de ses chercheurs – ouvrages collectifs, éditions de textes, monographies – dans les domaines de l’Antiquité tardive, de la littérature française du Moyen Âge à nos jours, de la littérature générale et comparée. Elle accueille aussi des études sur la poétique et l’esthétique des textes littéraires et sur leur relation avec le fait spirituel, quel qu’en soit le contenu religieux ou idéologique.

Littératures de langue française

« Littératures de langue française » se propose de promouvoir les recherches sur les auteurs, courants et grandes aventures littéraires qui ont marqué la France et le monde francophone du XIXe siècle jusqu’à nos jours. S’intéressant de manière privilégiée au renouvellement des formes d’écriture et des genres littéraires qui caractérise cette période, elle accueille des études qui abordent auteurs et textes de manière scientifique et originale, selon des méthodes critiques qui recourent à ou concilient herméneutique, approche génétique et archivistique, approche poéticienne. Le roman, le théâtre et la poésie jusqu’à l’extrême-contemporain, mais aussi l’essai ou l’exégèse intéressent cette collection de même que des problématiques et thématiques transversales, abordées éventuellement de manière pluridisciplinaire, qui envisagent l’évolution et la transformation des formes littéraires. La collection accorde une place particulière à la littérature francophone, provenant d’aires traditionnellement francophones ou d’auteurs ayant adopté la langue française pour langue de création. Monographies, actes de colloques ou journées d’études, thèses de doctorat, publication d’inédits et éditions critiques trouvent leur place dans cette collection et manifestent le caractère innovant de la recherche littéraire dans le domaine contemporain.

Méditerranée: Littératures - Cultures / Mittelmeer: Literaturen - Kulturen

Das Mittelmeer ist in den letzten Jahren nicht nur ins Zentrum politischer Interessen gerückt, sondern auch in den Literatur- und Kulturwissenschaften neu entdeckt worden. Seit mehr als 2000 Jahren treten in diesem in exemplarischer Weise transkulturellen Raum Kulturen miteinander in Kontakt, sei es in Form friedlicher Begegnungen, sei es in Form blutiger Konflikte. Das Mittelmeer hat nicht nur die Mentalitäten der Menschen geprägt, die an seinen Ufern leben, sondern Mythologien und Bilderwelten geschaffen, die tief in die literarischen Texte und Filme eingeschrieben sind. Aufbruch und Neuanfang, Reise, die Begegnung mit dem Anderen, die Beziehungen von Mensch, Natur und Geographie sind nur einige der Themen und Motive, die vom Mittelmeer ihren Ausgangspunkt nehmen, um in die Weltliteratur auszustrahlen. Die Reihe nimmt Arbeiten auf, die diesen Themen, Bildern und Mythologien in Literatur und Film nachgehen, die nach der diskursiven Errichtung und Begründung, aber auch nach der Überschreitung und Überwindung kultureller Grenzen im Mittelmeerraum fragen, die die Beziehungen und Bezugnahmen zwischen den einzelnen Kulturen und ihren Artefakten untersuchen. Sie situiert sich im Rahmen einer transnationalen, postkolonial und transkulturell begründeten Literatur- und Kulturwissenschaft, in der auch die wissenschaftliche Analyse von Film und anderen medialen Formen ihren Platz hat. The focus of this series is on studies using the tenets of phenomenology and its various (dogmatic and skeptical) evolutions to elucidate and interpret primarily literary works of art in the contexts of aesthetics, ontology, epistemology, axiology, hermeneutics, communication, reader response, reception, cultural and social theory. Studies of a comparative nature which straddle and/or combine the disciplines of philosophical and literary studies are distinctive features of this monograph series. Emphasis is on subjects that may advance the state of the art, set trends, generate and continue discussion, expand horizons beyond present perspectives, and/or redefine previously held notions. Elle est ouverte à tout type de projet de publication (monographies, ouvrages issus des thèses universitaires, projets collectifs, actes de colloque) et s'adresse en priorité, mais non exclusivement, aux chercheurs provenant de la Pologne ou d'autres pays de l'Europe de l'Est.

Modern American Literature

The books in the Modern American Literature: New Approaches series deal with many of the major writers known as American realists, modernists, and post-modernists from 1880 to the present. This category of writers will also include less known ethnic and minority writers, a majority of whom are African American, some are Native American, Mexican American, Japanese American, Chinese American, and others. The series might also include studies on well-known contemporary writers, such as James Dickey, Allen Ginsberg, Gary Snyder, John Barth, John Updike, and Joyce Carol Oates. In general, the series will reflect new critical approaches such as deconstructionism, new historicism, psychoanalytical criticism, gender criticism/feminism, and cultural criticism.

Transamerican Film and Literature

This series publishes scholarly contributions to the growing and ever-changing fields of film and literary studies across the Americas. Written in English or Spanish, the titles in this series include edited volumes, books by single authors, and translations of scholarly monographs. They typically investigate film and literature of the Americas, examining works and trends in relation to form, genre, culture, politics, historiography, and diverse areas of theory. The term "Transamerican" implies transnational perspectives on creative work from all over the Americas, with an emphasis on new assessments of Latin American work, but is not constrained to studies of multiple national cinemas or literatures, and may venture beyond the Americas for comparative purposes. It also encompasses studies of single works or bodies of work from the Americas whose thematics or aesthetics warrant attention from a broad scholarly readership. The mission of the series is to provide a site of dialogue and new collaborations between scholars working on Transamerican film and literary studies throughout the Americas and other continents, emphasizing the region's growing diversity of critical and theoretical perspectives on film and literature. Esta colección estará dedicada a publicar materiales sobre el cine y la literatura que se producen en el continente americano. Los materiales podrán estar escritos en español o en inglés, y podrán ser libros colectivos, trabajos elaborados por un autor individual, traducciones de estudios especializados, así como ediciones o traducciones académicas de textos literarios. En todos los casos serán textos orientados al estudio del cine y/o la literatura en la región continental, en términos de forma, género, cultura, política, historiografía o diversas áreas de la teoría. El término "transamerican" implica una perspectiva transnacional en los estudios sobre trabajos creativos de todo el continente americano, con énfasis en la región latinoamericana, pero no se limita a los estudios sobre los cines o las literaturas nacionales de múltiples países. Francophone Cultures and Literatures

The Francophone Cultures and Literatures series includes studies about the literature, culture, and civilization of all French-speaking countries except France, i.e., studies on the Francophone areas of Africa, the French-speaking islands in the Caribbean, as well as studies that deal with the French aspects in Canada. Cross-cultural studies between these geographic areas are also encouraged. The book-length manuscripts may be written in either English or French.

Contextualising Literature and Media

The series was founded and edited by prof. Dorota Filipczak (1963–2021) until the publication of volume 2. The aim of the series is to introduce new, incisive analyses of literature and media in different cultural contexts. The series will focus on the phenomena that are inderdisciplinary and dissolve the boundary between literature and media such as film, music video, computer games etc. The idea behind the series is to show how our traditional understanding of literature can be transformed by the cultural, social and technological contexts. The successive studies will be informed by the scholarly background of contemporary literary theory and media studies, while seeking to relate literature and media to the challenges of contemporary world. The books published in the series will bridge the gap between diverse discourses and involve different fields of study, e.g. philosophy, gender studies, cultural studies etc.

Studies on Themes and Motifs in Literature

The series is designed to advance the publication of research pertaining to themes and motifs in literature. The studies cover cross-cultural patterns as well as the entire range of national literatures. They trace the development and use of themes and motifs over extended periods, elucidate the significance of specific themes or motifs for the formation of period styles, and analyze the unique structural function of themes and motifs. By examining themes or motifs in the work of an author or period, the studies point to the impulses authors received from literary tradition, the choices made, and the creative transformation of the cultural heritage. The series will include publications of colloquia and theoretical studies that contribute to a greater understanding of literature.
