Mass Communication and Journalism
The series focuses on broad issues in mass communication, giving particular attention to those in which journalism is prominent. Included are examinations of the product of the full range of media organizations and of individuals engaged in various types of communication activities. Each of the commissioned books deals in depth with a selected topic, raises new issues about that topic, and provides a fuller understanding of it through the new evidence provided. The series contains both single-authored and edited works.

Düsseldorfer Schriften zur deutschen LiteraturDie Reihe verfolgt das Ziel, die problematische Bindung von Wissenschaft an Ethik mittelbar und unmittelbar anzusprechen. Die Zeitschrift Maß und Wert war in den Jahren 1937 bis 1940 eines der Mittel, mit denen Thomas Mann sich der Verkennung der deutschen Entwicklung entgegenstellte. Inhaltlich sollen die germanistischen Studien ihr Maß aus dem Wert des Menschen gewinnen, sich systematisch im Hinblick auf Alexander Popes Vers The proper study of mankind is man begründen lassen. Euch ist kein Maß und Ziel gesetzt das sind Worte Mephistos, nachdem Faust den Pakt mit ihm geschlossen hat, zugleich aber Ausdruck der objektiven Gefährdung des neuzeitlichen Forschens. Sie wird im Werk Friedrich Nietzsches mit dem Kollektivsingular im Menschen ist Geschöpf und Schöpfer vereint vielfach variiert ausgeführt. Methodisch ist die Reihe für alle Zugänge offen.
