Restoration Drama

This series attempts to illustrate the richness and diversity of Restoration drama, a thriving theatrical production which has been long overshadowed by the brilliance of the Age of Shakespeare. The aim of the collection is to bring to light dramatic texts that have not attracted much critical attention but display the most popular generic formulas of the time and introduce a wide array of suggestive topics. The series consists of modern spelling, fully annotated editions, complete with textual commentary, glosses, as well as historical, cultural and literary references. Each of the volumes includes a critical introduction which places the text in context, discussing aspects such as authorship, the play’s response to the historical circumstances of the time, its use of theatrical conventions and stage history.

The peer-reviewed series provides a forum for first-class scholarship in the field of English and American Studies and focuses on English and American literature, drama, film, theatre and communication. The series welcomes critical perspectives on the reading and writing of texts, the production and consumption of high and low culture, the aesthetic and social implications of texts and communicative practices. It publishes monographs, collected papers, conference proceedings and critical editions. The languages of publication are both English and Spanish. Scholars are invited to submit their manuscripts to the editors or to the publisher.

Ibero-American Screens / Pantallas Iberoamericanas

This series approaches the Ibero-American audiovisual field—cinema and television—from an interdisciplinary perspective, with special emphasis on studies stemming from Media Studies and Cultural Studies. We are especially interested in those volumes that examine audiovisual production in the Iberian Peninsula and/or Latin America from a comparative perspective. In addition, the collection will include studies on the production, distribution and circulation of audiovisual artifacts in the digital era. Consequently, we include works that explore the relationship between audiovisual media and other fields of popular culture, such as music and sports. We accept both theoretical proposals on audiovisual media and historical approaches that scrutinize a specific period of cinema or television in one or several geopolitical spaces. The series includes volumes on industrials aspects and political economy and reflections on key aspects for the articulation of both national and transnational imaginaries, such as memory and representational templates. The featured volumes can be monographs or collections of essays by different authors, in Spanish or English. Esta colección se acerca al ámbito audiovisual iberoamericano—cine y televisión— desde una perspectiva interdisciplinar, con especial énfasis en estudios provenientes de la Comunicación y los Estudios Culturales. Son de especial interés aquellos volúmenes que examinen la producción audiovisual de la Península Ibérica y/o Latinoamérica desde una perspectiva comparativa. Además, son especialmente relevantes aquellos estudios que aborden las transformaciones en la producción, distribución y circulación de los artefactos audiovisuales en la era digital. Por consiguiente, se incluyen trabajos que exploren la relación del audiovisual con otros campos de la cultura popular, como la música y deportes. Se aceptan propuestas de carácter teórico sobre diversos ámbitos del audiovisual y volúmenes de cariz más histórico que abordan un periodo concreto del cine o televisión de uno o varios espacios geopolíticos. La colección incluye tanto volúmenes que se centren en aspectos industriales o de economía política como reflexiones sobre temas clave en la articulación de imaginarios colectivos nacionales o transnacionales como la memoria y la representación. Los libros pueden ser manuscritos monográficos o colecciones de ensayos de diversos autores, en español o inglés.

The Asian American Studies series will continue to contribute to an understanding of the long neglected history, rich cultural heritage, and present position of Asian Americans in society. The series encompasses studies on all aspects of the Asian American experience, and we are committed to expanding the traditions of knowledge within the field to address vast Asian American epistemologies, communities, activities, and practices. We are looking for work which explores various facets of a transnational perspective including for example: diaspora, displacement and migratory identities, cultural hybridity, transculturation, comparative race studies, contemporary community issues, immigration politics, nationalisms, and representation. While seeking the highest standards of scholarship, the Asian American Studies series is thus a broad forum for research on diverse and complex Asian American issues. The Asian American Studies series is committed to interdisciplinary and cross cultural scholarship. The series scope is primarily in the Humanities and Social Sciences. For example, topics in history, literature, culture, philosophy, religion, visual arts, performing arts, sociology, language & linguistics, gender studies, global studies, ethnic studies, etc. would be suitable. The series welcomes both individually authored and collaboratively authored books and monographs as well as edited collections of essays. The series will publish manuscripts primarily in English (although secondary references in other languages are certainly acceptable). Proposals from both emerging and established scholars are welcome. The Postcolonial Studies series explores the enormous variety and richness in postcolonial culture and transnational literatures. The series aims to publish work which explores various facets of the legacy of colonialism including: imperialism, nationalism, representation and resistance, neocolonialism, diaspora, displacement and migratory identities, cultural hybridity, transculturation, exile, and geographical and metaphorical borderlands. This series does not define its attentions to any single place, region, or disciplinary approach, and we are interested in books informed by a variety of theoretical perspectives. This series showcases innovative research, creativity and pedagogy in the interdisciplinary field of medical humanities. Books in the series explore the complexities of human bodies, minds, illness and wellbeing through analytical frameworks derived from humanistic disciplines and clinical practice. The series publishes a range of materials, including monographs and edited collections on scholarly approaches to medical issues in culture; creative works (accompanied by analytical and educational materials) that engage with medical humanities themes; and critical, engaged or radical pedagogies on focused topics for learners in the medical and health humanities.　 Medical Humanities: Criticism and Creativity is intended to provide an informative exchange across disciplines, encouraging theoretical and personal reflections on the condition of the human mind/body and contributing to debates on health-related issues from a broad range of perspectives. ALPH: Arbeiten zur Literarischen Phantastik / ALPH: Approaches to Literary Phantasy

This series has been terminated after vol. 9. ALPH: in Coleridge’s poem Kubla Khan, this is a subterranean river based on the Greek Alphaios, which connects different worlds and thus creates new spaces in secret and surprising ways. The title Alph thus stands for works of fantastic literature/phantasy to which this series devotes new and exciting studies, from all ranges of anglophone writing, but also from other languages. Interdisciplinary and comparative studies are particularly welcome. Band 9 schließt diese Reihe ab. ALPH: In Coleridges Gedicht Kubla Khan ist dies ein unterirdischer Fluss, dem griechischen Alphaios entlehnt, der verschiedene Welten verbindet und dabei auf phantastische Weise neue Räume aufdeckt. Darum geht es in den Büchern dieser Reihe, in der neue Studien zur phantastischen Literatur erscheinen, insbesondere, aber nicht nur, der englischsprachigen Welt. Interdisziplinäre und komparatistische Arbeiten sind besonders willkommen.

This series is mainly focused on English literature produced in Britain and Europe between the 1750s and the 1830s. It aims to explore the key concepts regarding Romantic texts and aesthetics, such as the relationship between the writer and the natural world; context and history; sensibility and the sublime; gender roles; language and the power of the imagination; studies of genre; slavery and abolition; migration literature, consumer literature; social transformation; critical reception; and transnational relations. The series welcomes studies on major as well as less well-known authors and literary genres, and on historical and cultural contexts of the period. Within this framework, volumes included in this series will not only expand the canon beyond traditional authors and genres, but also provide opportunities for exploring texts and contexts from new perspectives, including those of gender, cultural and translation studies. The series includes monographs, collection of essays, conference proceedings, critical editions and translations, and aims to address an international community. The series Linguistica Philologica aims to foster dialogue across boundaries among the different fields and paradigms of linguistics in a broad philological and historical context. The edited volumes, monographs, and congress proceedings cover the linguistics of the entire spectrum of languages, focusing on describing and explaining languages as systems, the oral and written use of language, and language variation, its precipitating factors and outcomes. The double-blind peer-reviewed volumes are published in English, French, Spanish, German, and Russian. Die Publikationsreihe Linguistica Philologica will den Dialog über die Grenzen der unterschiedlichen Bereiche und Paradigmen der Sprachwissenschaft hinweg in einem breiten philologischen und historischen Kontext fördern. Die Sammelbände, Monographien und Kongressdokumentationen beziehen sich auf das gesamte Spektrum der linguistischen Philologien, mit Fokus auf die Beschreibung und Erklärung von sprachlichen Systemen, den mündlichen und schriftlichen Gebrauch der Sprachen sowie die sprachliche Variation, deren auslösende Faktoren und Ergebnisse. Die im double-blind Verfahren begutachteten Bände erscheinen in deutscher, englischer, französischer, spanischer und russischer Sprache.

"inklings - Jahrbuch für Literatur" bildet ein Forum für wissenschaftliche Aufsätze zur fantastischen Literatur von den Anfängen bis zur Gegenwart, insbesondere aber zu den Autoren des Oxforder Inklings-Kreises (J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis u.a.) und deren Anregern. Die Beiträge sind nicht auf literaturwissenschaftliche Themen beschränkt, sondern beleuchten auch philosophische, theologische, kunst- und musikgeschichtliche, medienkundliche, soziologische und pädagogische Aspekte. Zwei Drittel der Aufsätze dokumentieren die Beiträge zu den Symposien der Inklings-Gesellschaft. Band 39 schließt dieses Jahrbuch ab.

La presente colección se hace eco del interés creciente en lingüística hispánica y aborda todos los enfoques teóricos que constituyen hoy día esta materia. Asume el objetivo básico de reunir, bajo un mismo criterio científico riguroso y un mismo epígrafe, la publicación y difusión de un conjunto de obras y trabajos de investigación, tanto de autores consagrados como de jóvenes lingüistas. Sus títulos se dirigen a un público amplio, que va desde el especialista avanzado hasta el estudiante en general que se interesa por un determinado tema o enfoque. De esta manera, la colección aspira a consolidarse como una referencia importante dentro de las diversas disciplinas que integran la lingüística hispánica.
