Die Buchreihe Historia y contacto en textos indorrománicos widmet sich linguistischen Untersuchungen zu hispano- und lusoamerikanischen Sprachgemeinschaften, in denen sich im Laufe der Zeit klar idiosynkratische Merkmale herausgebildet haben. Das Ziel der Reihe besteht sowohl darin die verschiedenen aktuellen Sprachsituationen in diesen Kommunikationsräumen als auch die verschiedenen Stadien der Herausbildung und Entwicklung der amerikanischen Sprachgemeinschaften zu beschreiben und zu analysieren. Die Beschreibung und Analyse basieren auf der Arbeit mit direkten und metasprachlichen Quellen sowie deren notwendiger soziohistorischer und kultureller Kontextualisierung. Die Herausgeber der Reihe sind Prof. Dr. Martina Schrader-Kniffki (Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz) und Dr. José Carlos Huisa Téllez (Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz). La colección Historia y contacto en textos indorrománicos reúne estudios lingüísticos dedicados a espacios comunicativos hispano y lusoamericanos, en los que las comunidades de habla han ido formando a través del tiempo claros rasgos idiosincrásicos. Se pretende describir y analizar tanto las diversas situaciones lingüísticas actuales en estos espacios comunicativos como también los diferentes estadios de formación y evolución de las comunidades de habla americanas. Tales descripción y análisis se basan en el trabajo con fuentes, directas o metalingüísticas, y en su necesaria contextualización sociohistórica y cultural. The Asian American Studies series will continue to contribute to an understanding of the long neglected history, rich cultural heritage, and present position of Asian Americans in society. The series encompasses studies on all aspects of the Asian American experience, and we are committed to expanding the traditions of knowledge within the field to address vast Asian American epistemologies, communities, activities, and practices. We are looking for work which explores various facets of a transnational perspective including for example: diaspora, displacement and migratory identities, cultural hybridity, transculturation, comparative race studies, contemporary community issues, immigration politics, nationalisms, and representation. While seeking the highest standards of scholarship, the Asian American Studies series is thus a broad forum for research on diverse and complex Asian American issues. This series is mainly focused on English literature produced in Britain and Europe between the 1750s and the 1830s. It aims to explore the key concepts regarding Romantic texts and aesthetics, such as the relationship between the writer and the natural world; context and history; sensibility and the sublime; gender roles; language and the power of the imagination; studies of genre; slavery and abolition; migration literature, consumer literature; social transformation; critical reception; and transnational relations. The series welcomes studies on major as well as less well-known authors and literary genres, and on historical and cultural contexts of the period. Within this framework, volumes included in this series will not only expand the canon beyond traditional authors and genres, but also provide opportunities for exploring texts and contexts from new perspectives, including those of gender, cultural and translation studies. The series includes monographs, collection of essays, conference proceedings, critical editions and translations, and aims to address an international community. This series showcases innovative research, creativity and pedagogy in the interdisciplinary field of medical humanities. Books in the series explore the complexities of human bodies, minds, illness and wellbeing through analytical frameworks derived from humanistic disciplines and clinical practice. ALPH: Arbeiten zur Literarischen Phantastik / ALPH: Approaches to Literary Phantasy

This series has been terminated after vol. 9. ALPH: in Coleridge’s poem Kubla Khan, this is a subterranean river based on the Greek Alphaios, which connects different worlds and thus creates new spaces in secret and surprising ways. The title Alph thus stands for works of fantastic literature/phantasy to which this series devotes new and exciting studies, from all ranges of anglophone writing, but also from other languages. Interdisciplinary and comparative studies are particularly welcome. Band 9 schließt diese Reihe ab. ALPH: In Coleridges Gedicht Kubla Khan ist dies ein unterirdischer Fluss, dem griechischen Alphaios entlehnt, der verschiedene Welten verbindet und dabei auf phantastische Weise neue Räume aufdeckt. Darum geht es in den Büchern dieser Reihe, in der neue Studien zur phantastischen Literatur erscheinen, insbesondere, aber nicht nur, der englischsprachigen Welt. Interdisziplinäre und komparatistische Arbeiten sind besonders willkommen.

The series Linguistica Philologica aims to foster dialogue across boundaries among the different fields and paradigms of linguistics in a broad philological and historical context. The edited volumes, monographs, and congress proceedings cover the linguistics of the entire spectrum of languages, focusing on describing and explaining languages as systems, the oral and written use of language, and language variation, its precipitating factors and outcomes. The double-blind peer-reviewed volumes are published in English, French, Spanish, German, and Russian. Die Publikationsreihe Linguistica Philologica will den Dialog über die Grenzen der unterschiedlichen Bereiche und Paradigmen der Sprachwissenschaft hinweg in einem breiten philologischen und historischen Kontext fördern. Die Sammelbände, Monographien und Kongressdokumentationen beziehen sich auf das gesamte Spektrum der linguistischen Philologien, mit Fokus auf die Beschreibung und Erklärung von sprachlichen Systemen, den mündlichen und schriftlichen Gebrauch der Sprachen sowie die sprachliche Variation, deren auslösende Faktoren und Ergebnisse. Gender and the History of Institutions

The aim of this book series is to examine the history of institutions around the world through the lens of gender. Of interest are institutions established with the specific purpose of regulating gender and sexuality (e.g. the Magdalen asylums, Magdalen hospitals, penitentiaries, refuges, mother and baby institutions) as well as those with more general purposes where gender has had an important role in their operation and function (e.g. prisons, workhouses, lunatic asylums), including both religious and private organisations. The series supports the increasing interest in these institutions internationally, both in academia and in the treatment of ‘historical’ abuse. The series highlights the range of archives that can be considered in examining this history, not only in English-speaking countries but also in countries where the institutions described above have existed and determined the lives of many people. It will also broaden the conversation by widening the scope of institutions being considered. The series has as its main objective expanding the discussion of gender in reference to these lesser known institutions. At the same time, its purpose is to provide academia with a forum for discussion and a critical approach to the concepts of gender and institutions that attract both researchers and the general public. All projects undergo rigorous peer review before acceptance for publication.

L’arc chronologique va du XVIIIe siècle baroque à l’actualité la plus immédiate. Est privilégiée l’étude des textes et des modes d’écriture dont il s’agit de mettre en valeur le potentiel d’innovation. La pluralité des méthodes mises en œuvre vise à rendre compte de l’apport des textes considérés aux différents genres et discours selon aussi le contexte d’histoire littéraire ou des idées dans lequel ces productions s’inscrivent. Une place particulière est faite aux enquêtes sur le théâtre depuis le XVIIIe siècle, abordé également du point de vue de la performance, ainsi qu’aux relations littéraires et culturelles (parallèles, transferts, réception) entre la France et le monde germanique. Rethinking Education

Rethinking education has never been more important. While there are many examples of good, innovative practice in teaching and learning at all levels, the conventional education mindset has proved largely resistant to pedagogic or systemic change, remaining preoccupied with the delivery of standardised packages in a standardised fashion, relatively unresponsive to the diversity of learners’ experiences and inclinations as well as to the personal perspectives of individual teachers. The challenge of our times in relation to education is to help transform that mindset. This series takes up this challenge. It re-examines perennial major issues in education and opens up new ones. It includes, but is not confined to, pedagogies for transforming the learning experience, any-time-any-place learning, new collaborative technologies, fresh understandings of the roles of teachers, schools and other educational institutions, providing for different learning styles and for students with special needs, and adapting to changing needs in a changing environment.

Publiée en relation avec les recherches regroupées autour de la Chaire "Histoire culturelle du monde germanique" (Institut Universitaire de France/Sorbonne), la collection CONTACTS diffuse en priorité des études de spécialistes français de l'Allemagne. Les travaux publiés touchent à l'histoire, à la civilisation, à la littérature et à la culture des pays de l angue allemande. Une place particulière est faite aux travaux se rapportant aux divers domaines des relations entre la France et le monde germanique.
