This innovative series addresses the pedagogies and thoughts of influential contemporary scholars in diverse fields. Focusing on scholars who have challenged the “normal science,” the dominant frameworks of particular disciplines, Teaching Contemporary Scholars highlights the work of those who have profoundly influenced the direction of academic work. In a era of great change, this series focuses on the bold thinkers who provide not only insight into the nature of the change but where we should be going in light of the new conditions. Not a festschrift, not a re-interpretation of past work, these books allow the reader a deeper, yet accessible conceptual framework in which to negotiate and expand the work of important thinkers.

Postcolonial Studies

The Postcolonial Studies series explores the enormous variety and richness in postcolonial culture and transnational literatures. The series aims to publish work which explores various facets of the legacy of colonialism including: imperialism, nationalism, representation and resistance, neocolonialism, diaspora, displacement and migratory identities, cultural hybridity, transculturation, exile, and geographical and metaphorical borderlands. This series does not define its attentions to any single place, region, or disciplinary approach, and we are interested in books informed by a variety of theoretical perspectives. While seeking the highest standards of scholarship, the Postcolonial Studies series is thus a broad forum for the interrogation of textual, cultural and political postcolonialisms. The series welcomes both individually authored and collaboratively authored books and monographs as well as edited collections of essays.

Lang Classical Studies

Lang Classical Studies includes topics in the history, literature, and culture of the ancient Greek and Roman world. Monographs that challenge currently accepted views or mark out new areas of investigation are especially welcome. Comparative studies that combine various aspects of religion, intellectual history, reception studies, political theory, archaeology, ancient medicine, and the history of science fall within the scope of this series whenever they address the larger concerns of modern Classical scholarship. Contributors to this series, however, need not feel they are confined to currently fashionable topics or approaches. Warsaw Studies in Culture and Society

"The main aim of this book series is to cross borderlines of traditionally defined fields of studies: cultural anthropology, media and communication studies, sociology, political science, social geography and regional studies, history as well as social psychology. Contributions adopting comparative perspective and focusing on Central and Eastern Europe region are preferred; however other approaches and areas are also welcomed. Among a wide variety of topics the series will address issues of a domination of popular culture over classic forms of cultural works, revival and change of regional and national identity, virtual social networks and their impact on “real” group formation and performance, transformation of collective memories and reinterpretation of the past, culturally patterned political attitudes, cultural and social consequences of migrations and globalization of labor markets, grappling with permanent and rapid social changes, depersonalization of social relations in an electronic era, universality of media-affected ways of lives, perpetuation and evolution of political culture, social structure transformations, interrelations of ethnic and cultural minorities with dominant groups, and many others. In short, the series ”Warsaw Studies in Culture and Society” is open for a variety of high-standard academic publications reevaluating old and tackling new problems troubling contemporary societies. Authors are welcome to submit manuscripts of monographs, collected volumes, post-conference volumes as well as dissertations. Studies in Oriental Culture and Literature

The series aims to present contemporary research in the fields of Literary and Culture Studies encompassing the Chinese, Korean, Japanese cultural spheres, and the geographic area of Mainland China and Taiwan, Korean Peninsula, and Japan. Topics of interest include classical and contemporary literature, languages and writing systems, research on historical and modern East Asian cultures, as well as cross-cultural and comparative studies of the region. Of special interest are topics transgressing the traditional boundaries of Sinology, Korean, and Japanese Studies, presenting original, interdisciplinary perspectives. The series welcomes monographs and thematic collective volumes by scholars from around the world. The language of the series is English.

Interdisciplinary Communication Studies

This series publishes research (monographs and edited volumes) of an international standard in the field of interdisciplinary communication studies. It responds to the communication gaps between a range of disciplines in the human and social sciences and humanities and therefore welcomes proposals which integrate a range of diverse approaches (for example, in branches of philosophy, communication theory, social psychology, media studies, and social theory). Particular emphasis will be placed on theoretical innovation, new methodological approaches and the genuinely interdisciplinary work without which communication studies cannot grow. Scottish Studies International

The Scottish Studies International (SSI) series produced by the Faculty of Translation Studies, Linguistics and Cultural Studies of the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz in Germersheim, Germany, publishes high-quality research work from across the broad and varied spectrum of Scottish Studies. Founded in 1982 by the late Professor Horst W. Drescher, the series originally focused on literature and translation studies. Current editor, Professor Klaus Peter Müller, has since extended its scope into the fields of cultural and media studies, a widening of range and perspective that is also reflected in the faculty's bi-annual Scottish Studies Newsletter. The series aims to explore both Scotland's turbulent past and its intriguing present flux in its culture, society, politics, economy, media, art, and literature. In order to evaluate their suitability for publication, all texts submitted will be peer-reviewed by the general editor as well as by members of the editorial board.
