Judentum und Umwelt / Realms of Judaism

In the series Realms of Judaism, founded in 1979, research studies from the fields of Jewish history, culture, religion, literature, philosophy and philology are published. Although the research areas cover the times from Antiquity to Early Modernity, Pre-modern Judaism constitutes the main focus of the series. The geographical space encompasses the Near and Middle East and European Judaism likewise. The editors of the series are scholars with various specialisations within the area of Jewish studies. In der seit 1979 erscheinenden Reihe Judentum und Umwelt werden aktuelle Studien aus den Teilbereichen Geschichte, Kultur, Religion, Literatur, Philosophie und Philologie des Judentums publiziert. Der Schwerpunkt liegt auf dem Judentum der Vormoderne; die Forschungsgegenstände umfassen im Wesentlichen die Zeitbereiche von der Antike bis zur Frühen Neuzeit. Der geographische Raum umspannt den Nahen und Mittleren Osten sowie das Judentum in Europa. Die Herausgeber sind Judaisten mit fachlich unterschiedlichen Schwerpunkten.

Bible in the Christian Orthodox Tradition

This series aims at exploring and evaluating the various aspects of biblical traditions as studied, understood, taught, and lived in the Christian communities that spoke and wrote – and some continue speaking and writing – in the Aramaic, Arabic, Armenian, Coptic, Georgian, Romanian, Syriac, and other languages of the Orthodox family of churches. A particular focus of this series is the incorporation of the various methodologies and hermeneutics used for centuries in these Christian communities, into the contemporary critical approaches, in order to shed light on understanding the message of the Bible. Each monograph in the series will engage in critical examination of issues raised by contemporary biblical research. Scholars in the fields of biblical text, manuscripts, canon, hermeneutics, theology, lectionary, Apocrypha and Pseudepigrapha will have an enormous opportunity to share their academic findings with a worldwide audience. Manuscripts and dissertations, incorporating a variety of approaches and methodologies to studying the Bible in the Eastern and Oriental Orthodox traditions – including, but not limited to, theological, historiographic, philological and literary – are welcome. Die «Erfurter Studien zur Kulturgeschichte des Orthodoxen Christentums» befassen sich mit interdisziplinären Fragestellungen auf den Gebieten vor allem der Religionswissenschaft, aber auch der Theologie. Hierbei liegt das Hauptaugenmerk auf dem Orthodoxen Christentum. Die Bände der Reihe bieten zudem auch themennahe Einblicke in die Geschichtswissenschaft. Herausgegeben wird die Reihe von den Religionswissenschaftlern Vasilios N. Makrides, Mihai-D. Grigore und Sebastian Rimestad. Die Reihe "Beiträge zur Erforschung des Alten Testaments und des Antiken Judentums" enthält Monographien, Sammelbände aus dem Bereich der Theologie sowie Kongressbände der IOSOT-Tagungen. Herausgegeben wird die Reihe von den Theologen Professor Hermann Michael Niemann, Professor Matthias Augustin und Professor Meik Gerhards. Thematische Schwerpunkte setzt die Reihe unter anderem auf die politische, soziale und religiöse Geschichte Israels, biblische Archäologie sowie Lebens- und Alltagswelten in biblischer Zeit.
