Studies in Sociology: Symbols, Theory and Society

"The series has been created by Elzbieta Halas and Risto Heiskala in order to stimulate and develop cooperation in research on the meaning, forms and functions of symbolism in society. The series is open to various theoretical and methodological orientations in the studies of social symbolism. The aim of the series is to show the central place of the problems of symbolization and symbolism in sociology - processes of symbolization in everyday life, in collective actions, social movements, organizations, in the public sphere of institutions, as well as in the construction of collective memories and identities, in the construction of the state and the nation, and in international relations and in globalization processes. The series presents theoretical and empirical questions of symbolic power, symbolic hegemony, symbolic control and symbolic politics; integrating as well as transforming and liberating functions of social symbolism in the processes of interactions and communication which shape knowledge, values and social sentiments."

Studies in Early Modern European Culture / Studi sulla cultura europea della prima età moderna

The scholarly series Studies in Early Modern European Culture aims at publishing scholarly works in the areas of Venetian studies, early modern and modern history, and cultural studies. The publications in the series originate from research work conducted at the CIES (Center for Italian and European Studies), the Boston University research centre located in Padova, Italy. The series includes monographs in English and Italian which reflect the interdisciplinary activities of the CIES. In exceptional cases, the series will accept also works produced by scholars not working at, or affiliated with, CIES. La collana Studi sulla cultura europea della prima età moderna comprende monografie, raccolte di saggi ed edizioni di testi nell’area degli studi veneziani e veneti, di storia delle idee della prima età moderna, e nell’area, sempre relativa alla prima età moderna, degli studi culturali. Le pubblicazioni della collana nascono dalle attività di ricerca condotte al CIES (Center for Italian and European Studies) della Boston University, sede di Padova. La collana pubblica testi in italiano e inglese, che riflettono le ricerche interdisciplinari condotte al CIES. In casi eccezionali la collana accoglierà anche testi di studiosi non affiliati con il CIES. The purpose of this series is to present innovative, in-depth, and provocatively critical literary and cultural investigations of critical issues in African American literature and life. We welcome critiques of fiction, poetry, drama, film, sports, and popular culture. Of particular interest are literary and cultural analyses that involve contemporary psychoanalytical criticism, new historicism, deconstructionism, critical race theory, critical legal theory, and critical gender theory.

Deutsche Sprache und Kultur in Mittel-, Ost- und Südosteuropa

Die Reihe widmet sich der deutschen Sprache und Kultur mit einem sprachwissenschaftlichen, literatur- und kulturwissenschaftlichen sowie sprachdidaktischen Schwerpunkt. Sie soll in besonderer Weise ein Sprachrohr für Mittel-, Ost- und Südeuropa sein und den vergleichenden interkulturellen Aspekt in Publikationen aus und über diese Region berücksichtigen. Die Mitglieder des Herausgeberteams sind selbst in diesen Regionen verortet. Durch die Initiierung　internationaler Tagungen und editorischer Kooperationen haben sie den wissenschaftlichen Transfer mit　Fachvertretern　diverser germanistischer Standorte gefördert. Die Reihe richtet sich vor allem an Autorinnen und Autoren, die regional und transnational zu einem wissenschaftlichen Austausch beitragen wollen.
