Occasional Papers in Swiss Studies

The Centre for Swiss Cultural Studies in the Department of Modem Languages at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow (GB) was set up in 1996, formalising a long tradition of publication, research and teaching irr Swiss studies there. As part of the expansion of activities in publishing and in creating outlets for scholarly work, it was decided to launch a series, Occasional Papers in Swiss Studies. lt is envisaged that each volume of the series, which will appear at intervals of about a year, will bring together approximately six essays relating to a single theme and written by scholars in the field of Swiss studies. lt is the aim of the editors to select themes which have a contemporary dimension and, whilst the majority of the essays will have a literary focus, each number will contain at least one essay by a scholar in a discipline such as history or cultural studies. lt is hoped that the series will both present aspects of Swiss culture and contribute to general debate on matters Swiss. This series of art historical studies concentrates on the periods from the Renaissance to Modernism. Topics classified under Contemporary Artwill only be included only in exceptional cases. Papers on Art are primarily aiming at the monographic investigation of sculpture, painting, graphic art, and arts and crafts, comprehensive studies will be incorporated on a case-by-case basis. The term monographic is used broadly, comprising monographs dealing with the œuvre of one artist, treatises considering partial aspects, as well as studies of a particular work. Diese Reihe kunsthistorischer Studien ist zwischen Renaissance und Moderne angesiedelt, die Kunst der Gegenwart sollte indes nur ausnahmsweise berücksichtigt werden. Primär steht diese Reihe für monographische Untersuchungen zu den Themenbereichen der Bildenden Künste (also Skulptur, Malerei, Graphik, Kunsthandwerk) offen, im Einzelfall können auch übergreifende Darstellungen aufgenommen werden. Zudem wird der Begriff monographisch bewusst weit gefasst: So kann es sich sowohl um Studien zum Gesamtœuvre eines Künstlers als auch zu Teilaspekten desselben handeln, desgleichen um Monographien zum einzelnen Werk.

Based in Prague, the series "Prague Papers on Language, Society and Interaction / Prager Arbeiten zur Sprache, Gesellschaft und Interaktion" primarily covers the sociolinguistic reality of Central Europe as well as the territory of the former Soviet bloc, which is still underrepresented in international linguistics scholarship. Theoretically and methodologically, the series continues in the sociolinguistic heritage of the Prague School of Linguistics, enriched by contemporary sociolinguistic, discourse analytic, ethnographic and ethnomethodological approaches.

DASK – Duisburger Arbeiten zur Sprach- und Kulturwissenschaft / Duisburg Papers on Research in Language and Culture

DASK presents a forum for linguistic research on the interrelationship between language and culture. The series is interdisciplinary in nature and consists of monographs and collections of papers. The main purpose of the editors is to initiate a dialogue between linguistic science and neighbouring disciplines such as sociology, anthropology, semiotics, literary studies and intercultural communication. The aim of establishing a series at the intersection of linguistic and cultural studies is to provide academics and interested students with a scientific framework for studying the interaction of language and culture. The series has been founded by Ulrich Ammon, René Dirven and Martin Pütz.
