    Die Buchreihe “Methodology of Music Research“ präsentiert aktuelle und grundlegende Studien aus der Musikwissenschaft. Die Sammelbände und Monographien decken dabei ein breites Themenspektrum ab, von der Musiktheorie, interdisziplinären und pädagogischen Aspekten der Musikwissenschaft, musikwissenschaftlicher Methodik bis zur kritischen Auseinandersetzung mit Trends und Perspektiven der Musikwissenschaft. Herausgeber der Reihe ist Professor Nico Schüler.

  • Musica poetica

    Musik der Frühen Neuzeit

    Musica poetica widmet sich der Erforschung musikalischer Phänomene der frühen Neuzeit. Ästhetische, philologische, musiktheoretische, analytische und aufführungspraktische Fragestellungen stehen ebenso im Fokus der Reihe wie kulturwissenschaftliche Ansätze. Die frühe Neuzeit wurde in dichter Folge von katastrophischen Ereignissen, gesellschaftlichen Umwälzungen und wissenschaftlichen 'Turns' erschüttert. Leitfrage der Reihe ist nicht zuletzt, in welcher Weise fundamentale Verwerfungen wie der Dreißigjährige Krieg, der Durchbruch des galanten Paradigmas, cartesianische Wende oder Aufklärung ihre Spuren im Komponieren und Nachdenken über Musik hinterlassen haben. Musik avanciert als fester Bestandteil menschlichen Handelns zum klingenden Spiegel der frühen Neuzeit. Ivana Rentsch Seit 2013 Professorin für Historische Musikwissenschaft an der Universität Hamburg. Forschungsschwerpunkte sind u. a. kulturhistorische und ästhetische Fragestellungen zur Musik und Musiktheorie der Frühen Neuzeit, das Musik- und Tanztheater des 17. bis 20. Jahrhunderts, die Gattungsgeschichte des Liedes und die tschechische Musikgeschichte. Oliver Huck Professor für Historische Musikwissenschaft an der Universität Hamburg. Er ist Leiter des Integrierten Graduiertenkollegs "Manuskriptkulturen" im Sonderforschungsbereich 950 "Manuskriptkulturen in Asien, Afrika und Europa" und Mitglied des Graduiertenkollegs 2008 "Interkonfessionalität in der Frühen Neuzeit".

  • Interdisziplinäre Studien zur Musik. Interdisciplinary Studies of Music

    "Interdisziplinäre Studien zur Musik / Interdisciplinary Studies of Music" is a publication series that emphasizes the transdisciplinary and international nature of musicological research. The series editors, Tomi Mäkelä (Professor of Musicology at Martin-Luther-Universität Halle-Wittenberg) and Tobias Robert Klein (Privatdozent at Humboldt Universität zu Berlin) are equally interested in manuscripts with a historical, systematic or transcultural orientation. Hitherto published volumes (both monographs and edited collections) cover a wide range of topics from musical multilingualism to current debates in performance theory. Languages of publication are English and German. Die Reihe "Interdisziplinäre Studien zur Musik / Interdisciplinary Studies of Music" umfasst Arbeiten in deutscher und englischer Sprache, deren über Fächergrenzen hinausweisende Perspektiven den interdisziplinären und internationalen Charakter der Musikwissenschaft betonen. Die Herausgeber, Prof. Dr. Tomi Mäkelä von der Martin-Luther-Universität Halle-Wittenberg, und PD Dr. Tobias Robert Klein, Musikwissenschaftler und Afrikanist an der Humboldt Universität zu Berlin, interessieren sich dabei gleichermaßen für historisch, transkultulturell und/oder systematisch orientierte Studien. Erschienen sind in der Reihe bislang sowohl Dissertationen und Habilitationsschriften als auch sonstige Monographien und Sammelbände, deren Themen sich von musikalischer Mehrsprachigkeit bis hin zu aktuellen Diskussionen der Performance-Theorie erstrecken.

  • Music and Spirituality

    Music and Spirituality explores the relationships between spirituality and music in a variety of traditions and contexts including those in which human beings have performed music with spiritual intention or effect. It addresses the plurality of modern society in the areas of musical style and philosophical and religious beliefs, and gives respect to different positions regarding the place of music both in worship and in the wider society. The series will include historical, anthropological, musicological, ethnomusicological, theological and philosophical dimensions and encourages multi-disciplinary and cross-disciplinary contributions. It looks for well-researched studies with new and open approaches to spirituality and music and encourages interesting innovative case-studies. Books within the series are subject to peer review and will include single and co-authored monographs as well as edited collections including conference proceedings. The use of musical material in either written or recorded form as part of submissions is welcome.
