Cultures in Translation. Interdisciplinary Studies in Language, Translation, Culture and Literature is a series engaging in issues of liaisons between culture and translation as well as translation-related themes within comparative studies. Books published in the series will concern the mediating role of translation in the construction of our understanding of both one’s "own" culture and the cultures of "others". The problem of the cultural dimension of translation will be addressed from a broad range of languages and cultures. The series will provide theoretical and practical guidance towards the development of culture-sensitive strategies of translation. The language of the series is English. However, we are also willing to consider relevant manuscripts in other major languages.

In today’'s globalised society, translation and interpreting are gaining visibility and relevance as a means to foster communication and dialogue in increasingly multicultural and multilingual environments. Practised since time immemorial, both activities have become more complex and multifaceted in recent decades, intersecting with many other disciplines. New Trends in Translation Studies is an international series with the main objectives of promoting the scholarly study of translation and interpreting and of functioning as a forum for the translation and interpreting research community. This series publishes research on subjects related to multimedia translation and interpreting, in their various social roles. It is primarily intended to engage with contemporary issues surrounding the new multidimensional environments in which translation is flourishing, such as audiovisual media, the internet and emerging new media and technologies. It sets out to reflect new trends in research and in the profession, to encourage flexible methodologies and to promote interdisciplinary research ranging from the theoretical to the practical and from the applied to the pedagogical. New Trends in Translation Studies publishes translation- and interpreting-oriented books that present high-quality scholarship in an accessible, reader-friendly manner. The series embraces a wide range of publications – monographs, edited volumes, conference proceedings and translations of works in translation studies which do not exist in English. The editor, Professor Jorge Díaz-Cintas, welcomes proposals from all those interested in being involved with the series. The working language of the series is English, although in exceptional circumstances works in other languages can be considered for publication. Proposals dealing with specialised translation, translation tools and technology, audiovisual translation and the field of accessibility to the media are particularly welcomed. This series is based at the Centre for Translation Studies (CenTraS), University College London.

The series explores issues in theoretical and applied linguistics, psycholinguistics, psychology of language and translation studies. While the volumes published in the series may present research in language, mind and translation seen as separate provenances, the overall aim of the series is to pinpoint possible interfaces occurring between them (for example between psycholinguistics and translation studies, psycholinguistics and cognitive linguistics, cognitive linguistics and translation, etc.) as well as to uncover mutual interaction between these branches of science and other research areas, such as philosophy, media studies, education, multimodality and culture. The series presents studies conducted by Polish scholars, in particular by those affiliated with Bydgoszcz, and by our colleagues and research partners representing other universities. We also welcome submissions (monographs, collections of articles and post-conference volumes) from all those interested in issues remaining within the broad scope of the series themes. Studien zur Translation und Interkulturellen Kommunikation in der Romania

La série de livres est conçue comme plateforme d’orientation pluridisciplinaire, destinée aux études des domaines de la translation et de la communication interculturelle. Elle comprend autant des monographies que des recueils et des actes de colloque. Dans cette collection sont publiés des travaux qui font avancer la réflexion théorique, mais des études empiriques portant sur une problématique particulière sont également bienvenues. Le spectre thématique prend en compte la complexité de la communication interculturelle. Outre que des travaux des domaines de la linguistique, de la traductologie et des sciences de la communication, la collection prend en considération la pertinence des travaux d’orientation pratique du domaine de la recherche sur l’interculturalité. En ce qui concerne le domaine de la translation, la série comprend des études portant sur des aspects de la linguistique comparée ainsi que des analysés détaillées sur des langues de spécialité, la translation audiovisuelle, la didactique de la translation et la traduction automatisée. Die Reihe ist als interdisziplinär orientierte Publikationsplattform für Studien zur Translation und Interkulturellen Kommunikation konzipiert, wobei das Format sowohl Monographien als auch Sammelbände bzw. Tagungsakten umfassen kann. In der Reihe erscheinen einerseits Beiträge, die die Theoriebildung voranbringen, aber auch empirisch angelegte Einzelstudien sind willkommen. Die „Innsbrucker Beiträge zu Sprache, Kultur und Translation" bieten ein Forum zur Diskussion von Fragen aus der Linguistik, insbesondere der Anglistik und Romanistik. In times of globalization and cultural contemporaneity, the series China, Europe and the World – Literatures and Cultures in Dialogue, is an intercultural forum for the communication of academic voices regarding the "China dialogue". It builds a world-wide bridge between scholars and varied academic traditions, continuing the dialogic research between and among Chinese, European, and those scholars from other parts of the world. As a research network, the series also serves as a platform for academic exchange in fields of cultural, literary, linguistic, translational and historical studies. Manuscripts within the series’ range of topics are welcome and will be published after peer review. Vol. 1 and 2 have been published in the series Chinesisch-deutsche Jahres- und Tageszeiten. Übersetzung – Vermittlung – Rezeption. In Zeiten der Globalisierung, aber auch der Erfahrung kultureller Identitäten versteht sich die Reihe China, Europa und die Welt – Literaturen und Kulturen im Dialog als ein interkulturelles Forum für die Vermittlung und den Austausch von Primärliteratur, Übersetzungen, Forschungsergebnissen, Rezeptionen und Kommentaren zum „China-Dialog". Sie schlägt eine Brücke zwischen interessierten Wissenschaftler/inne/n und einschlägigen Wissenschaftstraditionen in Fortführung des dialogischen Forschungsauftrags zwischen China, Europa und anderen Ländern auf der Welt. The series Language, Literature, Translation (LeLiTrad) will gather research papers on the various fields related to humanistic and specialized translation approached from multidisciplinary perspectives. In the present collection, therefore, the collection would bring together papers on the translation of literary works from assumptions related to comparative studies, discourse analysis, or the relationships between literature and other arts; Also, the collection would be hosting research papers on disciplines like terminology, applied linguistics, and specialized translation in a variety of fields (such as legal, bio-sanitary, agri-food, technical, hybrid texts, veterinary sciences, economic sciences, translation for citizen security and translation for social affairs, audiovisual translation, para-translation, etc.). Next to these, research papers focused on different aspects of translation like theoretical essays and work on inter-language interpretation will also be accepted and assessed for publication. In short, the series Language, Literature, Translation aims to offer the specialized readers all theoretical and practical aspects hinging around the translation of texts and interpretation of speeches, so that they may contribute to the critical debate and the resulting enrichment of the discipline both in Spain and in the wider European context. La colección Lengua, Literatura, Traducción (LeLiTrad) reúne los distintos ámbitos relacionados con la traducción humanística y especializada desde una perspectiva multidisciplinar. En este sentido, abordamos desde esta colección la traducción literaria de obras desde presupuestos relacionados con la comparatística, el análisis del discurso, o la relación de la literatura con otras artes; por otro lado, la colección acoge trabajos sobre terminología, lingüística aplicada, y traducción especializada en sus múltiples ámbitos (jurídico, biosanitario, agroalimentario, técnico, textos híbridos, ciencias veterinarias, ciencias económicas, traducción para la inclusión, traducción para la seguridad de la ciudadanía y traducción social, traducción audiovisual, paratraducción, etc.). Die wissenschaftliche Buchreihe "Saarbrücker Beiträge zur Sprach- und Translationswissenschaft" (Sabest) wurde im Jahr 1999 anläßlich des 50jährigen Jubiläums der Fachrichtung Angewandte Sprachwissenschaft sowie Übersetzen und Dolmetschen der Universität des Saarlandes gegründet. Den ersten Band bilden somit die 560seitigen Kongreßakten dieses Events, die unter dem Titel Modelle der Translation – Grundlagen für Methodik, Bewertung und Computermodellierung einen Überblick über die verschiedenen Perspektiven vermitteln, aus denen sich die Wissenschaft heute den Fragen der Translation zuwendet. Diese weite Sicht und die Vernetzung der Translationswissenschaft mit anderen Disziplinen charakterisieren die Ausrichtung der Buchreihe. Zugrunde liegt die Überzeugung, daß die eigentümlichen wissenschaftlichen Fragestellungen des Übersetzens und Dolmetschens ihren Ausgangspunkt im Phänomen der Sprache und des Schrifttums nehmen, so daß die Sprach-, Literatur- und Kulturwissenschaften im Zentrum translatorischen Geschehens stehen. Zum Kernbereich von Sabest gehören ebenfalls die neueren Entwicklungen in der maschinellen Übersetzung und Sprachdatenverarbeitung. Mit Band 27 wurde die Reihe abgeschlossen. Particular attention will be given to the development of Christian theology during the first five centuries of the Church and to the different types of Biblical interpretation which the Fathers used. Each study will engage with modern discussion of the theme being treated, but will also break new ground in original textual research. In exceptional cases, a volume may consist of the critical edition of a text, with notes and references, as well as a translation. Revised doctoral dissertations may also be published, though the main focus of the series will be on more mature research and reflection. WGS Pathbreakers

WGS Pathbreakers is a subseries of Women, Gender and Sexuality in German Literature and Culture (https://www.peterlang.com/series/wgl), edited by Helen Finch and Katherine Stone, that seeks to showcase the cultural contribution of women, queer, non-binary, trans and gender non-conforming writers and artists to German studies, making important aesthetic, scholarly and political developments accessible to a wider audience. We welcome new proposals for both: Critical editions, which may include single works, selections from the corpus of an individual author, or multi-author anthologies by, or that offer fresh perspectives on, pathbreaking female, queer and trans culture. Critical editions should have the potential to initiate novel scholarly conversations and include a substantive introductory essay, glossary and contextualising annotations, where appropriate. Translations into English, which may include single works, selections from the corpus of an individual author, or extracts from the output of multiple authors that will serve to illuminate significant issues in the representation of gender and/or sexuality in German-language culture. Each submission should include a rigorous scholarly introduction, as well as a translator’s note or essay, glossary and explanatory annotations, where appropriate. Parallel texts will be considered. In the case of new translations of works with existing English-language editions, proposals should make a cogent case for the shortcomings of previous translations and the added value of the new translation. We welcome enquiries from translators. The series editors are primarily interested in works that merit intensified scholarly attention, but which have been overlooked by conventional publishers, censored or fallen out of print. The subseries therefore reflects our desire for a more diverse understanding of German-language culture for the purposes of research, teaching and performance. We ask that the volume editor or translator take responsibility for securing the rights to all primary material and covering any costs required for reprinting or translating the work.

The series Gdańsk Studies in Language focuses on all areas of theoretical and applied linguistics, especially on semantics, pragmatics, historical linguistics, first and second language acquisition, English language teaching, ethnolinguistics and translation. In the series, we publish monographs (including outstanding doctoral dissertations) submitted not only by scholars affiliated with the University of Gdańsk, but also by researchers representing other academic centres in Europe and elsewhere. Collections of papers are considered for publication as well. The language of the series is English.

Scottish Studies International

The Scottish Studies International (SSI) series produced by the Faculty of Translation Studies, Linguistics and Cultural Studies of the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz in Germersheim, Germany, publishes high-quality research work from across the broad and varied spectrum of Scottish Studies. Founded in 1982 by the late Professor Horst W. Drescher, the series originally focused on literature and translation studies. Current editor, Professor Klaus Peter Müller, has since extended its scope into the fields of cultural and media studies, a widening of range and perspective that is also reflected in the faculty's bi-annual Scottish Studies Newsletter. The series aims to explore both Scotland's turbulent past and its intriguing present flux in its culture, society, politics, economy, media, art, and literature. In order to evaluate their suitability for publication, all texts submitted will be peer-reviewed by the general editor as well as by members of the editorial board.
