Edited By Marta L. Wilkinson
The time has come to express my gratitude to my mother for raising me in a world in which one language is simply not enough. A world in which trans- lation, code- switching, and multiple forms of expression are constant, neces- sary, and natural. Thank you. I thank all of the teachers and professors who helped me in my French language education, an odyssey without which this translation would have been impossible. Of these instructors I owe particularly thanks to Catherine Nesci, for introducing me to Delphine de Girardin’s work and for her help on the final manuscript. I will forever be your student! Appreciation for my institution, Wilmington College, should not be ne- glected as works of this nature cannot exist without the support for such fac- ulty endeavors.
